Spam AS while ES on cooldown (FS talent)

Hey,

I was wondering, when you use FS talent. Do you always spam AS to dump your focus?

Example: if ES has about 2 secs left to come off cooldown and you have around 30 focus or less, do you cast another AS or wait untill you can cast ES?

Or in 1 question ,is it ok to cast nothing in certain situations for a few sec, or do you have to cast an ability all the time?

if you wont have the focus to cast ES right when it comes off cd you definitely dont want to cast AS.

 

for those situations Survival hunters can drop in an explosive trap for 0 focus cost to smoothen out the rotation so you dont waste your 2 seconds.

other than that, if you know you need to spend a lot of focus during the next gcds you can aswell cast a FS beforehand to ensure you will have enough focus for for example ES BA and AMoC if they are getting off cd the same time.

This is the perfect time to cast Focusing Shot. Waiting for 2 full seconds is unacceptable. 

 

Rule of a thumb: If ES cooldowns in 2 seconds and:

Focus > 40 then cast AS and Explosive Trap, then cast ES.

Focus < 40 simply cast FS, then cast ES.
