Redfella's Unholy Necroticblight WeakAuras

Recommended Posts

UPDATE: This WA has not been updated since 6.1, but it still works well for what it was built for. It doesn't, however, have BoS or Blood Charge support as of yet. I will update it to include both in the future, but for now I simply do not have time to develop this WA.

So to be clear, I haven't tested this WA since 6.1, but Ayrel posted this in my other WA topic:

I'm currently testing it with 4p (726ITL) and 6.1 version works pretty good.
tier bonuses don''t effect the rotation at all, 2p allowes you to use DT more frequently and 4p just adds damage, but RP dumping is the same.
The only thing missing imho is Blood charges.
Red you should consider to put the NP rotation as "ready" for 6.2, as I said I'm testing it and it works pretty well w/o changes.

Before you read any further, check out Demonardvark's Unholy DK Necroblight Guide. For importing you are required to be in Unholy Spec and you need to have both Unholy Blight and Necrotic Plague talents active.

What is it?

A priority order WeakAura that tells you how to play Necroticblight ~pretty optimally in single target situations. For Cleave/AoE, Skullflower wrote the following: "For Necroticblight AoE, extend the duration of NP to match or exceed the cooldown time remaining on Unholy Blight by weaving in Festering Strikes into your Blood Boil usage. For example, you would Blood Boil x2 + Festering Strike x1 or you could extend NP before you begin your Blood Boil spam (i.e. adds are going to spawn in 10 seconds, so you would spend what runes you have on FeS)."

Does it work well?

You decide that for yourself, but here's a screenshot with epic percentiles in my ilvl bracket, from our last alt character raid (also my second raid with the Necroblight build after switching from frost): http://i.imgur.com/SKt5hb6.png?1

Priorities

- Don't look at the order from top to bottom, but look at the icon names instead:

Video of the WAs in action (0.99 version):

Known bugs:

- A Glowing Empower Rune Weapon will be shown on your screen even if you have 6 runes when target health is under 10 Million and you have less than 30 RP. Ignore it for now.

Troubleshooting / Common problems:

- "Error deserializing" - The import failed because there were missing characters or extra characters in your paste.

Version 1.0 rc1 (4.2.2015)

Changelog:

4.2.2015 - 1.0 release candidate 1
- Fixed an import bug causing the WA to become unusable

- Fixed Scourge Strike not appearing when UB was available, you had runes to use and 15 stack NP was still ticking

- Fixed Plague Strike not appearing if no NP on target and Outbreak down (1xPS+UB = fastest 15 Stack build without Outbreak available)

- Coloured Scourge Strike icon texts green/yellow depending on if we are saving one Death/Unholy rune for Soul Reaper or spamming freely

3.2.2015 - 0.99 beta

- Removed hiding FeS/SS on => 90RP and few other small tweaks to decrease total string size from 130k to 105k characters

1.2.2015 - 0.99 beta

- Reworked the WA to match UB cd only when NP duration falls under 15 seconds so 1) we don't overshoot NP duration as much and 2) gain more scourge strikes

1.2.2015 - 0.95 beta

- Fixed a Custom Function LUA error when logging in on other characters than DK

1.2.2015 - 0.94 beta

- Always show FS/US regardless of Dark Transformation, Empower Rune Weapon and Summon Ghoul cooldown

- Show UB regardless of Outbreak status so you can pick which one to use yourself

- Fix the sorting of Status Helper WA

- Move bigger cooldowns from Rotation Helper to Unholy Cooldowns WA

- Show Empower Rune weapon if not on CD and fight is about to end (regardless of resource starvation)

31.1.2015 - 0.93 beta

- Prioritize Death runes for Scourge Strike during Heroism or Strength potion instead of building NP duration

- Colourize icon texts: Blue when Hero/BL, Green when conditions are perfect, yellow when ok and red when critical

- Fix Festering Strike icon sometimes missing when we should be matching UB CD duration

31.1.2015 - 0.92 beta

Throttle Death rune usage so next SR cast is always at least within 2 seconds when target under 45% (for Soul Reaper)

- Show SI stacks on Death Coil when building for Big Timmy

- Prioritize Death runes for Festering Strike if NP failing and UB CD > 15s

- Keep showing FS even after UB is up for Blood & Frost runes

31.1.2015 - 0.91 beta

- Fix Soul Reaper

- Fix Outbreak when 0 NP stacks

30.1.2015 - 0.9 beta

- Published the WA strings

------------------------------------------------------

Installation:

The Rotation Helper string itself is over 115k characters long, and as such might require up to a minute or two to import on an older PC. Lock up is perfectly normal, go make a sandwich while you wait! If your WoW can't handle the full import, paste the string in two or more parts before hitting import (this should not be required unless your PC is old).

If you do not use english wow client, try these instead (Spell IDs in place of Spell names): https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/10380-redfellas-unholy-necroticblight-weakauras/?p=102205

Please backup your WTF folder before importing, failed imports may corrupt your WA settings file.

Updating:

Remove prior versions before importing new versions, then refer to installation instructions.

Optional / Advanced: Finetune UB CD / NP matching to your haste rating. For me personally with a bit under 1000 haste I like the 15 second emergency setting, but some people might favor a bit less, such as 12 seconds or 10 seconds. It all comes down to your haste rating and preference.

Thanks for the great work! I'll definitely try this when I get back home tonight.

One thing though, wouldn't it be too much of a DPS loss to use festering right at the beginning with all the buffs, prepot and in most cases blood lust? I usually use the first few sets of Death runes to SS with all buffs and prepot then when all the buffs fade, ill go back with using festering with BFD to extend NP's duration.

A very good point! I will modify the helper to look for STR Pot buff and prioritize Scourge Strike instead of SS during it's effect so we can maximize the dps.

Also updated the strings now for the following:
- Throttle Death rune usage so next SR cast is always at least within 2 seconds when target under 45% (for Soul Reaper)
- Show SI ("x/5") stacks on Death Coil icon when building for Big Timmy instead of RP amount
- Prioritize Death runes for Festering Strike if NP failing (less  than 15s) and UB CD > 15s (had NP fall off a few times with 5-8s to next UB, 1-2 Death pairs should sort it out)
- Keep showing FS even after UB is up for Blood & Frost runes

Thanks for this.  I would add, and maybe it's just me, but when I tried to copy and past the Rotation helper code, it locked up every time.  I had to copy and paste it in pieces, but eventually got it working.  Not sure what the error is other than wow just crashing, but awesome WA man!

This is a known issue in many big WA strings, but I'll add a short disclaimer about it in the op, thanks for the input. :)

Wow. I really like how compact these are, plus the slight animation is a nice touch. As for the strings locking up, if you give it like 2 minutes it'll actually go through. Just heat up a hot pocket and the strings can be imported :)

I did notice one weird thing. At a certain point (haven't figured out when/why) it won't give me any suggestions on abilities and I'll literally cap out runes if I follow it to a T. I usually just override this by spamming SS (usually the preferred attack anyway) which will 'reset' the WA's back to normal.

Incredibly helpful to know how many Festering's I need to cap out the cooldowns and this will be helping me throughout BRF I'm sure.

I have not ran in to this problem in the current .92 version any longer, any ideas what part of rotation was active when runes disappeared? (Such as "FS + UB CD Matched" or "UB available but NP still up at 15 stacks").

I'm sure there might still be a quirk or two as the trigger rules are pretty damn complex for some parts of the rotation (like 9 triggers conditions have to match for a skill to show up etc.).

I'll try to test it out and find some pattern to it. As for now it's not a big deal as these are very complex so it's a small concern smile.png

edit: One other thing--not sure if Outbreak adds an existing stack, but after casting UB the Outbreak icon will stay lit up and show the stacks adding up on the target.

If it adds an extra stack, cool. Otherwise, it would be nice if this were taken out. Even if it does, that global might be better used on SS or something as the stack builds quite quickly. Thoughts?

Spotted it. During the second UB when you do not have Empower Rune weapon, the initially built NP is shorter. My "BFD SS to match UB CD" string was set to not show up unless UB cooldown is under 50 seconds, when this should had been 15 seconds so as not to waste Death runes when unnecessary.

Will post fixed strings after I incorporate the Heroism/STR pot change to FS/SS prioritization.

New release (0.93):

- Prioritize Death runes for Scourge Strike during Heroism or Strength potion instead of building NP duration

- Colourize icon texts: Blue when Hero/BL, Green when conditions are perfect, yellow when ok and red when critical

- Fix Festering Strike icon sometimes missing when we should be matching UB CD duration

this is brilliant i will test this in today's Raid

just a suggestion, i like using Blood Tap. Is there any change you can add them to priority list

It's on the TODO list but I want to have the current version working 100% before forking off to different talent choices. That said, what would be the optimal time to BT in Necroblight? When I play frost I mainly BT when stacks are over 5 if it means I can get an instant KM Obliterate out, otherwise I sit on my stacks unless I get to 11-12.

I presume we'd want to 2xBT every time we can get a pair of Death Runes out (so after a FS basicly)?

- BT if 12 charges

- BT if 10 charges

- BT if 5 charges

- BT if SR is off CD and no D/U runes available

Festering already converts runes to Death runes, so using BT after FS would not be optimal unless we at 10 or 12 charges(no need to waste charges :P), so BT would be better use to convert U runes as D, if you can priority this would be better.

But skullflowers on his guide explains it in detail on the talents section.

noticed if you dont pop Gargoyle the rotation wont follow its normal course.

This is particular bad if you waiting to pop gargoyle on a upcoming burning phase or you want to align it with particular procs.

For example on Kargath we use our CD's when he goes the for the first time to the middle to regen his shield, and the rotation wont progress at all until i pop gargoyle.

Maybe a suggestion to add DPS CD's to a different WA.

Also its really a DPS gain to use Plague Strike to bump stacks instead of using SS, i'm really not sure about that at all.

I was under the assumption that not popping Gargoyle on CD would be a DPS loss no matter what raid buffs were coming, but M Koragh is an exception for sure I agree.

I'll remove the restriction, sure. Moving DPS CDs to a different WA might not be a bad idea since the rotation helper is already 150k characters long, will consider it further.

Not sure about PS to bump up the stacks, but thought it would be more important since NP is the biggest part of our damage, especially in 6.1. I personally use BF Death runes for PS in that circumstance and use Unholy and Unholy Death runes for Scourge Strike still. It's more a reminder that you might want to build NP quickly (let's say there are more than one targets around for example, since it's more important then)

Edit: Here's the helper with FS/SS not requiring you to have Dark Transformation or Gargoyle on CD, and the order of icons is changed so that they appear on the right side of FS/SS: http://pastebin.com/jrrDNQXf

How many characters would it drop if you split the big cooldowns from the regular rotation? I actually really like that for situations stated above. It would be nice to have things like Garg, Presence, UB, ERW, plus more that I may have forgotten split from the main rotation like Storm has it.

Think you could whip out two versions? Sorry if I'm asking too much :)

mostdeadlygeist: About third of the big WA strings size was cut out now.

Updated strings in OP:

  • Always show FS/US regardless of Dark Transformation, Empower Rune Weapon and Summon Ghoul cooldown
  • Show UB regardless of Outbreak status so you can pick which one to use yourself
  • Fix the sorting of Status Helper WA
  • Move bigger cooldowns from Rotation Helper to Unholy Cooldowns WA
  • Show Empower Rune weapon if not on CD and fight is about to end (regardless of resource starvation)

I got all the WAs in place except one. The game just freezes and then disconnects me from game when i paste the rotation helper, no idea why that's happening. But i really like the status helper!

Try pasting the Rotation Helper string in smaller parts (for example paste 50% of the text, then paste in the second 50% before hitting import). If your PC is a bit older/has low memory/you run lots of addons, this crash is quite possible due the way WA is designed (the import strings should and could be way shorter, but might be there is no compression/decompression available in the WoW client).

Edit:

0.95 of Rotation helper out, no functionality changes, only fixed the annoying LUA error that pops up when logging on a non Death Knight character.

Yea man I tried pasting the code in segments, which didn't crash me, but it also didn't allow me to import it. There was an error when trying to process it. But it's cool man I'm just using storm's version for the rotation. Really great job dude, keep it up

Should allow to import if you didn't end up with extra lines or some such in between (tried this myself to verify).

To clarify, you do not hit import between pastes, you keep pasting until the full string is in the box, then you import.

It worked out now, thanks for tips. I must've pasted the segments incorrectly, it all works wonderfully now

Enter Eclipse Apply or maintain your Moonfire, Sunfire, and Stellar Flare (if talented) Keep Celestial Alignment / Incarnation: Chosen of Elune (if talented) on cooldown Cast Convoke the Spirits when you have less than 50 Astral Power. Try to pair with your other cooldowns but do not lose a use. Spend your Astral Power on Starsurge or Starfall on multi-target. Do not lose uses of Warrior of Elune, Force of Nature, or Fury of Elune (if talented). Cast the Eclipse-appropriate filler. Item 3 says to cast Celestial Alignment as a higher priority than (presumably that means before you cast) Convoke the Spirits.
The subsection on Convoke the Spirits Optimization says "Generally, you will play around your Convoke and not your Celestial Alignment, as you almost never want to cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up as well."
I'm not quite understanding how I'm supposed to prioritize Celestial Alignment in my rotation but not generally cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up.
Unless Convoke is a special sort of channel, if you actually managed to cast Celestial Alignment during Convoke, wouldn't it interrupt the channeling of Convoke?
If I am supposed to cast Convoke and then cast Celestial Alignment as it's channeling, shouldn't the rotation guide have those reversed?
I'm sorry to be a noodge about accuracy here, but either I'm badly misunderstanding what looks like fairly simple instructions or the two elements of the instructions are inconsistent with one another.

I am new to mmos and I was playing an Arcane Mage but my fiance said frost mages are better so I am trying to learn how to play it and I have watched videos and gone over the icy viens information but it is still very confusing for me. I know this sounds bad but can anyone like dumb it down or like comment simpler instructions right now i am going off this attachment i made based of some advice and off of icy viens and i am only doing 4152 dps total so I am not sure if this is low or not but I am already level 120 right now

This is an introduction to weak auras for beginners. While the addon has definitely improved, I still find a lot of my casual friends becoming daunted of the addon. So I made this video to help them and others. Please let me know if you have any feedback. :)

Hello all! I figured i'd make this thread to get some up to date information on the AOE rotation for unholy.  Currently i'm 935 ilvl, and I run Incstructor's fourth lesson and Soul. (For lack of a better option.) However it is my understanding that these two legendaries make for the strongest aoe rotation. Is this true?

That is my first question. My second is what is the priority for aoe when running these two. Is it to wait for defile to drop, then festering wound a target a couple times, then Scourge Strike? Or is the priority to just put Wounds on then pop them asap, dropping the defile whenever it's available. Typically I wait for defile before I start building Wounds, but given the soul and the extra talent, i suspect it's better to just aoe without Defile if it's unavailable or perhaps just better to rarely spend runes on defile? Curious as to your thoughts!
