<WW> reliable high dps during longer fights?

Recommended Posts

Dear icy veins forum users. i need some help with my WW monk. we are currently moving in to Brf heroic and my GMs are on me all the time that i need to improve my dps. i have ok gear and should be doing more dmg than i currently are. this is my current gear

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/frostmane/Dundermunken/simple

i have read all the info on how to actually play WW monk but i still does not seem to improve my dps. i need some help with improving my rotations to be able to keep my dps higher than it is. im very well aware of stat prio and so on but i have not been raiding for more than 4 weeks and have not been able to pick the gear i really want.

i open with about 50-60k dps but i rapidly go down after about 30 sec. i do around 22-24.5k dps depending on the fight and the bosses but i feel like i should be able to do more. could someone plz explain to me in exact detail how the opener + rotation should look like?

more or less every single target fight i go with the specc im currently in.

should i change my spec? should i change glyphs? WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!? plz help me // a WW noob

I've actually linked to the same fight in my own "Help me obi-wan kenobi"-thread, and I think ilevel has been approximately the same. But for AMR to insist you're doing 30% of potential damage for your gear is just ridiculous. I have a snowballs chance in hell to do 60% more damage than I do, I don't know about you. Only thing I can think of is if it compares with monks doing main aoe damage with an aoe build on the adds in the intermissions. I would asssume that damage would ramp up the overall dps drastically.

I get the impression our single target is low, and that is how it is, we really shine in cleave fights and have a chance to do quite well in aoe fights too, but when it's hectic I do seem to struggle with my SEF targetting. One of my questions in the other thread was what kind of dps to actually expect from single target fights on monk - especially the Imperator, but overall would be nice too, to get an idea what to aim for and when I can be okay with my performance.

I'm not sure how or where you see that it says that he is doing 30% of his potential damage. The only 30% I see is the 30% ranking, which means that he did better than 30% (aka 30th percentile) of all of the parses that have been uploaded to AMR's combat log site for this particular fight.

I was looking at the infographic, and tbh I don't know where I got it from. Maybe different wording when it was first released? When looking at it some more it also appears to me to be just a ranking for all characters used on this fight and difficulty, rather than same ilevel as well, which makes this as a tool to see how well you can and should perform, completely useless.

Thanks for pointing that out, now I can sleep better at night. ;-)

Edit: They claim to only match you to others with exact same iLevel.

that is about the same thoughts ive had about WW monks right now. we are not /should not, be able to compare ourselfs with for example, rogues, paladins and shamans in single target. we are halfassed in single target but have potential in cleave fights. something needs to be done to windwalkers to not make them fall out of the raiding scene comletely, i do not see a reason to invite a WW monk in to my raid when we are going to fight a single target boss. they are simply too gimp. why have a WW monk when practically every other class do more dmg/dps on a single target? i do not see the point. blizz needs to get their head out of their asses and do some drastic changes to the class/spec. some slight buff to solo target would be nice.

You can go into more detail by 1/ hovering overing the % and 2/

http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/combatlog/0a681e67-febc-4cbb-9243-d3146de93423/boss/imperator-margok/heroic#f=3,be=overview,c=8

Scroll down to "But is it good for our gear"

top 46% of players for same class/spec/ilvl with your 21383 DPS, [of people who use AMR]

top 50% 21657 [ 1.3% increase ]

top 75% 23790 [ 11% increase ]

top 95% 27272 [ 22% increase ]

But that also shows that "on that pull" you are the top performing player DPS wise, as your 46% trumps the raid average of 26% [and the mages 4%] Although you need logs from actual boss kills to get some "real" information

If you look at WCL to get no1 in the world at below 662 ilvl still ww monk on same fight you would need 33755 [ 37% increase ]

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/jLaVAMhPw4FX9xrY#fight=24&type=damage-done

So the numbers are based on actual player boss kills as opposed to "simulated" dps
