Affliction Macro

7 posts in this topic

I used to play with this macro.

/use Soulburn

/cast Soulswap

This macro instantly applied my 3 dots to my target in one GCD. With 5.1, it no longer works, /use Soulburn uses a GCD and i have to hit twice my macro for the same result.

Did you use a such kind of macro?

I use

#showtooltip Soul Swap

/stopcasting

/cast soulburn

/cast Soul Swap

so, essentially /cast instead of /use.

I'm having no such issue with a simple macro like this:

#showtooltip Soul Swap

/cast Soulburn

/cast Soul Swap

You should not be incurring a global cooldown when using Soul Burn. The stopcasting is likely a fantastic addition to avoid what happens to me occassionally where I inhale DoTs when I don't pay attention and pull DoTs off of a target instead of reapplying them all. Report this as a bug as it should not be happening.

It seems to be a macro issue.

I've read on others forums that pre 5.1 macro were not compatible and has to be recreate.

@Zagam

I don't get the point of adding /stopcasting at the beginning of the macro. What does it do ?

Moreover, i'm looking for a way, to prevent

- loosing shard if the target is out of range

- not inhale dots from my target if i have no shard left.

Any tips on that ?

I'm not sure what you mean, Zagam, I'm still getting the inhale.@ourselin: I was trying to think of a way to do this and I imagine it would have something to do with the [aura] [noaura] crap that's above my head.

Unfortunately, this still happens to me too when I'm being dumb. I'm thinking of actually ditching a macro and just doing it manually since I'm actually using soul swap more in Terrace.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed now that you can no longer Soul Swap your dots off Lei Shi when she has her bubble up? I used to be able SS them onto one of the adds but now you have to do it BEFORE the bubbles up, which is impossible.

      Hello together,
I just came back to playing after a huge break. Basically everyone told me not to play affliction warlock in legion, so I did anyways hehe =(
Ofc I am in a very weak spot now, thank god I have a guild who I can raid with anyways.
My main issue now is: regardless of the weak affliction-specc. Simulation-.-craft.org tells me I can reach 230k DPS. Is this buffed (flask, food etc) because there is no way I can reach this. I can reach like 150k (no buffood, flask etc).
edit: btw I'm not letting dots run out; my gear has the right stats etc
Second issue: No matter what talents I choose -> the outcame is only a minor difference. I am struggling with the use of contagion and soul effigy (here I don't know which dots i keep going - 35% dmg / global cooldown effectiveness?) because of the much RNG I get (shard generation + soulproccs of artifact).
It feels smoother to just go for absolute corruption and soul conduit because I can just use shards+souls together without hoping for frequent proccs of both simultaniously.
Glad I take all advice you can give me.
+ I just hope for another big patch of course. But I guess none is coming before few weeks of raiding.
      Sincere regards a PvE-newcomer/comeback amateur hehe :(

      Welcome brothers and sisters,
Imperium is a casual raiding/leveling guild actively recruiting for Legion on Aggramar and Fizzcrank. We have two scheduled raid/dungeon/general meet-up times at Wednesday 7-10pm EST and Friday at the same time. We are a very active guild and probably alot more organized than most casual guilds especially when it comes our raid teams. We are all very close as a group but always enjoy welcoming newcomers to the guild and hope to work through this new expansions content together. We hope you will consider us as your choice for a raid guild or just a guild to find new friends to play with for Legion and beyond!
We are a guild formed from experienced mature players and looking to add to our roster hoping to fill some of these roles for our raid team:
      1) RDPS
      2) Healer
PLEASE APPLY HERE: Imperium Guild Application

      Hello Shamans!
I figured I'd share this bit of info for those who don't already know about any of this.
I've been using a mount addon for several years now called "LiteMount". It's similar to Blizzard's recently implemented "favorite" system in their mount page. However, this addon also allows you to dictate which mounts you want to use for flying, swimming, and/or running. Going a step further, it also automatically puts you in ghost wolf if you're in a scenario in which you can't mount (indoors, not standing still, etc).
How this addon works when you have it installed and WoW loaded, you just have to type "/litemount macro", then an action button will appear on your cursor that you can place on your action bars.
To achieve "auto" water walking, you just need to make a small tweak to the macro. Type "/macro" to get started. Next, find the macro in question and at the bottom of the macro, type "/cast Water Walking".
What this will do is put water walking on you when you dismount. Ideally, it would be nice to put water walking on you before you mount, but if you use the ghost wolf feature in this addon, this won't be possible as they share GCDs (where mounting doesn't). So the next best thing is casting it on you as you dismount. This way you pretty much almost always have water walking on, and refreshing it on the run is as simple as changing in and out of ghost wolf :)
      Enjoy!
