Unholy Tier Gear

Recommended Posts

Picked up some tier pieces last night in HC BRF and been lurking on here for a while and read somewhere they got a buff that increases pet damage? and wondered if they actually were worth using now and if so which tier pieces say if were were only going for the 2 set or if the 4 set is again worth it cheers

In general you want to prioritize tier sets over anything else. The bonuses are usually worth the effort. Now, if you get a higher ilvl piece that's above your tier set, that's when I would either A) use a sim program to figure out which is a better dps gain, or B, hold off until you get another tier piece.

Now for unholy, the two piece is what boosts your pets damage and is really the bigger dps increase. The 4 piece basically gives you more runes which is nice. So, without checking numbers atm, I would say break 4 piece but don't break 2 piece.

I don't have access to any said programs on my work computer so if anyone can offer further insight that would be lovely

2PC is worth it, 4 PC is not. simple as that :P

I would avoid going for the gloves and the legs, they are pretty bad because they have crit as a secundary stat.

WoWBiS has all tier pieces except the hands in their list, so I guess the 4P bonus is worth more than a better individual armor piece. I don't think this takes into consideration Warforged or socked bonuses, you'll need to use SimCraft in those situations.

@Anfauglith, for me personally I have a warforged mythic highmaul head for example, so it doesn't really compare to heroic BRF's "bis" list. The general rule of thumb still remains that the 2pc is a major dps increase, and the 4pc is only a slight one. In a realistic scenario this could mean that with 670-680 ilvl you could get a dps increase off a 665 and 680 2pc combination. With the 4 piece bonus it's just not worth it to go drop ilvls/bis stats just to get the tier bonus.

@Impurex That is why I said the list does not take into consideration WF/socket bonuses (or even ilvls, for that matter). It is made assuming you have items with the same ilvls, in which case having 4P is better than 2P + 2 other items with better secondary stats.

In every other situation, you'll need to use either SimCraft, or calculate whether it's a DPS increase or not by hand.
