Hello 6.1 ... ramblings

Don’t Make Me Eat My Words…….. of Mending

6.1 cannot come soon enough for my healing Priest. I have had so much Words of Mending since the release of Highmaul, and now in to Blackrock Foundry, that I am begging for something else to eat in the Level 100, Tier 7 choices. As Holy or Discipline, anything at all, as long as it does not taste like Saving Grace. Clarity of Will received a little buff for Discipline and has its role to play in Tectus, Brackenspore, and Ko’ragh. It was borderline taken, not just as a buffer for tanks while our item levels were low, but also to sneak in a little bit of creamer to the black abyss that was the Tier 7 talent choices. Then there were the Discipline players out there who took it anytime it was even halfway viable, to give their Power Word Shield finger a break for 2 seconds at a time.

“Come on Necrotic Breath, I’m cramping!” they yelled as their fingers began to look like Captain Hook shadow puppets.

My fingers’ flashbacks to ICC spam are real, and it is a nightmare they have not recovered from yet. After your raid team learned the mechanics of these three fights and your tanks stopped falling over, you could, theoretically, go back to placing your point into WoM and forget about it for the remainder of your farm nights; IF you felt like punishing it with more PWS for not reaching the Mute button quick enough to avoid that spoiler advertisement! So far, in my experience in BRF, CoW has again found its way into 3 more bosses (though up to this point I have only done Heroic and not any Mythic kills), Operator Thogar, Iron Maidens, and with the right healing team, Flamebender Ka'graz.

All the while, the Holy specialized cloth wearers were dreaming over what it would feel like to move the Immovable Object known as WoM! Holy is waiting for 6.1 to be its Unstoppable Force that uses the power of a 20% Clarity of Purpose buff to displace this In-Law visit, turned to an entire tier length house squatter. There are even whispers from the Twitterverse about some Leftwing Holy’s purposefully passing on Tier 17 to escape, even the notion, that will again marry them to WoM with their 2pc set bonus.

So while we Priest impatiently wait for the improbable, we are relegated to watch for Blue posts containing Discipline Shield nerfs and Holy Clarity buffs, as Devs tools to slowly push this tyrant of a talent out of its unopposed 6.0 Seat of Power. Using the current 6.1 patch notes as reference, the writing is on the wall of how WoM’s little brother, next in line for the Seat of Power, A.K.A. Cascade, will be handled.

See everyone in 6.1! GL!

Nice write up! I chuckled :)

I've only managed to get my hands the 2 part bonus as a Holy Priest. All the dps were first in line(2 Warlocks, 1 SP) and then in competition with a Paladin. What do I think of having 9 Mendings? It's alright, does it make me switch out Twist of Fate for Divine Insight? Honestly no, not quite yet. As of now the Renew/CoH playstyle simply pull bigger numbers and feels stronger. Maybe the 4 set and the change to CoP will make me try it again.

My only worry for Clarity of Purpose and the hype surrounding it is the 10 yard restriction. People are taking the 30 yard on Prayer for granted, despite it's party restriction.

Same story with our guild, DPS 2/4 pc first. I just picked up 2pc on Wed and look forward to trying it next lockout. I did notice in Disc you can build max Evan stacks prepull

I remember reading that Prayer of Mending was going to get a base of 10 jumps, after running through BRF for some Tier drops.. I noticed it was still only 9, which makes me a sad holy priest.

I don't mind that I'm forced to have a set way for my tier 7 talent as there really isn't diversity for my warrior so I'm used to it. Similar to hunters running lone wolf, except that it does something more useful than just a "free" PoM every 10 casts.

Has anyone tried out the number for the new CoP?

Yea, changing PoM to 9 charges was a change on the PTR about three or so weeks ago. I ran 9BRF bosses last night with 2pc Disc and plan on running a handful of Holy 2pc this afternoon. Ill check back in here or create a new thread if CoP blows me away.

Well...  ran a Holy 2pc Heroic run this morning and CoP was poo compared to 2pc and WoM.  I tried some with CoP and PI and other with CoP with DI to fish for procs.  Anyone else having better luck than I did at finding a niche for CoP?

Well, this is disappointing. I had read about CoP and was hoping to pull in some respectable numbers with Holy...no 2pc yet.

yea, I have very disheartened today after raid.  I knew my numbers were down from Disc, but when I started looking at our other Holy and a few fights where I just used WoM w/o 2pc as Holy and focused on Renew....  I raged a bit.

I ran a few things with CoP and was utterly disappointed. The only fight I think it could work on is Gruul and Oregorger. But that'd be it really.

Also, were you raging from the low numbers compared to disc or because of WoM + Renew being the real only viable healing strategy? The 2pc really makes a bit of a difference for our numbers.

Also, Gwen, I have been running my 2set bonus from PVP as well as the 2set from tier, and I just love the 90% uptime I'm getting of +650 versatility. So much that I've been hesitating on replacing my legs or hands from drops. The 660 ilvl is saddening but the secondary stats on them are very desirable. Have you experimented with this at all or would you say I'm being a total doorknob about it? :D

Yea raging from, comparing Holy CoP w/ PI and/or DI to; Holy 2pc w/ WoM > PI (no fishing for procs) and WoM just knocked CoP out of the water. I really wanted CoP to be viable with the buff and it is not.  When you throw in the 2pc w/ WoM...  PoM healing take a nice big jump and there is no chance for CoP.   I just CoP on Gruul and just comparing it to my Renew spam kill it couldnt hold up at all (in lower gear).

Wasnt comparing Disc to Holy at all.  Just focused on CoP.  I have 0 PvP pcs so I cant offer any input of it  :*(

I havent come across anyone or been pointed to logs yet where they have been able to game CoP to outshine or even be comparable to WoM 2pc

Sorry if I missed a discussion elsewhere regarding this, but how does disc stand now as far as stat weighting with yet another PWs nerf?

I run in a small guild raid, usually around 15ish, with sham/druid healers. I find that we do better off with me almost always having CoW for tank healing. Im sure mastery stacking will still hold true at least for my giving scenario, but interested in hearing what the changes did for us. Thanks.

I'm doing the same - our guild usually runs 20-23, but without a consistent pally healer (work issues) and druid/monk/shammy healers. I know WoM is the talent of choice, but I can't afford to use it with our current raid setup.

I haven't changed my stat weights - if they need a little tuning, I'm all ears! :)

Ah I gotcha.

I was reviewing my logs and with the 2pc PVP and it gave me 91.78% uptime on a Gruul kill.

I haven't watched your stream in a while, but do you normally run as Disc main still? I ask as We always have a disc and it drives me crazy that he's extremely competent and doesn't give us a chance to heal anything. On that same Gruul kill, he's at 42k, and I'm at 25k, Factoring Oregorger, Grull and our 5 wipes on Blast Furnace he is sitting at a comfortable 44k to my 30k. While I know I could improve my healing further still, it's just so frustrating to permanently be in the #2 slot.

Yes, Disc is still my main spec. We have a full time Holy in our raid, although i do run Holy in the alt group. Ill be testing 4pv Holy on Gruul Tuesday.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      To all who read,
I am a WoW player and have been since vanilla, I’ve played several variances of classes through the expansions and this round settled with shadow priest which I ran through the majority of Legion and BfA. I have never written a guide or forum post before but decided I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and see how other players in the same position feel as well.

I would like to ask people to respect everyone’s opinion as this forum topic will be a place for unusual class builds, talent choices, and stat priorities. Everyone plays the game for fun and should be able to build a toon that is effective utilizing a multi style approach. I do believe that the simulators are awesome for checking gear and choices when it comes to specific cases perhaps PvP. That being said though, I feel as though sims are not really a good indicator of a talent choice or gear piece’s level of effectiveness. I am by no means a tremendously good player, probably average to be honest, but ask any top tier player and they will tell you very rarely does a pull go “perfect” for their class. these simulations then are only showing if something goes perfect, so I thought why not build a class around what “actually” happens versus the “perfect pull”, so that is what I did.
I would love to hear what other players thoughts on the matter are and list what your individual stat priorities are and maybe discuss why!
      mine are as follows;
      1.) Mastery = Versatility
(both of these boost damage output but versatility is not limited by number of DoTs so it helps if you are struggling to keep skills on targets.)
2.) Haste (this increases the amount of ticks per cast, when paired with high Vers and mastery you deal large DoT damage which is great if you’re in a high movement fight.)
      3.) Critical
This for many reasons is great. First, shadowy app procs, and secondly just plain damage bumps. Lastly, and arguably most important though is the shadow word death damage boost. When we execute (comparing to warrior skill) it deals increased damage naturally to targets below 20% health I believe. When you pair this with high mastery Vers and a decent crit chance you can execute for incredibly high amounts of damage to help that end fight dps chart!
