NP Uptime

Recommended Posts

Alright I'm struggling with a few things.
I made the transition from Frost 2h (which I've always played, regardless of the state of Frost OR unholy,) to Unholy, and am using Redfellas

We're running Heroic progression in BRF, currently on Blast Furnace. We're approx ~100 wipes in over Two weeks. Tonight we brought in another DK as a pug.
I'm not a pro by any means NB Weak aura's rotation. I know it takes some work setting it for your own stats, which I need to do still.

But I can't keep up NP to save my life. It's between adds dying on my side to bad RNG. But this other DK, whos gear was worse than mine, did a ridiculous amount more damage than me, which it seems like was JUST from considerably better NP Uptime.

That's the log from our best pull (about 7%)

Any ideas?

Try blood boiling your NP duration to the next target before current target dies. NP naturally spreads stack by stack, but it won't spread the duration and the via death transfer is buggy at best.

Another suggestion is to try and be the side the Foreman is on and keep a healthy stack on him and it will jump to the security guards and others when they spawn, I try to save unholy blight for the phase change use it at the start to get a quick fresh 15 stacks on Foreman Feldspar and it will be up for phase 2, use it when you have the slag elemental stacked by the elementalist as it can be pre dotted and then use UB on CD there are so many adds it should run rampant during phase 2 as some quite useful cleave

Also it looks like his pet did loads more damage is he using the 2 set? Cause that's quite a damage boost

I wish I could be on the Foreman side. Raid lead has me on right side to control the adds and interrupts if needbe. I think that's a lot of it. I'm suffering downtime, especially at the first set of adds due to burning them down so fast.
But no, the other guy didn't have his 2 set.

He also has a bunch more Mastery and a decent amount more Multistrike than you. You say he has worse gear, but he really doesn't. ilvl isn't everything.

His average NP tick is 2k more than yours and he's getting 7%+ more multistrikes from it.

He also had 20+ more Death Coils and twice as many Soul Reapers, which is a significant chunk of damage.

And he had more Festering Strikes than you, which is obviously a big part of NP uptime. I'm always burning a couple sets of Death Runes early on to stack up my NP duration, and I'm not afraid to use FS when I need to to keep NP up. Its such a huge chunk of damage, its okay to not spend every Death Rune on SS.

You're NP uptime could be better and that's definitely part of the difference, but I think Mastery and Multistrike are also playing a big role.

So if I BB a 15 stack 30 seconds NP every add get's a 15 stack 30 second NP? Even if they have another NP on them (let's say 15 stack 15 seconds one)? I didn't know the exact way of BB usage with NP, would love to get some insight as beastlord/BRF style fights this could surely make a huge difference.

It would probably make foreman feldspar my main target in BRF for NP duration stacking for example, and 100% uptime on multiple adds shouldn't be a problem that way.
