starting Bossfight Energy Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

well im pretty good with my rogue so this is not a question to get a order of moves i have to press. I play Orange on most Bosses in Warcraftlogs ([email protected]). My Questions goes a little more in the detail.

1) So when i start a fight i normally go ambush - sinster - revealing - sinister - sinister and when my energy is low enough to not cap because of GCD i start Slice n Dice. Sometimes its with 4 CP sometimes its even at first anticipation charge. So the question is if its right. Is slice n dice worth capping maybe 10-20 Energy ?

2) When Bloodlust/Heroism is popped at the start, i might not come around capping some with starting slice n dice and revealing strike too. Here i normally delay Killing spree a lot because that 3.5 seconds capping is huge. Here is the question should i use it anyway and cap energy? With delaying it 20-30 seconds i almost get another one ready for free because of the huge reduce of Cooldown while Bloodlust is running. Should i use Killing spree while capping 3 Sec Energy which regenerates so insane i have to be so careful with Slice n Dice and Revealing Strike to not Cap. With Sinister strike its easy but when i have to pop one of these 2 i first have to get my Energy down with Sinisters, hell even eviscarate sometimes caps me sometimes. On the other Hand when i delay Killing spree i normally use it when i go into deep insight and normally the initial proccs like the haste trinket wore off. After that i hit Adrenalinerush before that it would be a waste.

3.) Goes maybe back to the first Question: If i would use slicendice right after Ambush i dont have the problem later with Deep insight. Yes i cap some initial Energy, but with a 2CP SND the timing is perfect to refresh when i enter deep insight, while now its like i have to refresh with 10-15 seconds left so it lasts through deep insight. You see my dilemma. Should i cap some Energy or waste 1-2 CP on Slice n Dice.

I guess a way around that would be starting like i wrote at the top but before i hit SND i hit Eviscerate and then SND with 1-2CP or so.

4.) Blackhand: Blackhand throws some mines at the start. I could use Killing spree right after Ambush but i cap a ton energy then. If i dont i have to wait until hes pulled out of the mines, then when your tank is slow first proccs might have worn off - not normally, but sometimes - which is better?

Not quite sure I understand what you're asking here - are you just wondering when the best time to use Killing Spree is on opener, and if capping energy is ok?

The first question is if i should start SND earlier, cap some energy and can refresh it later on a lower time left before i go into deep insight or avoid capping as much as possible and therefore delay SND for some seconds and refresh it with 10-15s left on the timer so about 2CP wasted - i think this is the easiest it compares basicly 2CP vs 20-30 Energy (well some +dps autohit and some more energyregen for 2-4 seconds)

-----

the other one is if its better to cap a whole Killing spree Energy and have it back to ready very fast 30-40s in Bloodlust through the Cooldown reduce with each eviscerate or delay it 20-30s and dont cap Energy

-----

The third is just same capping question - Cap Energy while Killing spree with proccs (right after ambush - so basicly the whole duration) or delay it 10s and then do it without capping but also without proccs - this time its a timing question cap energy for a procc heavy Killing spree without bloodlust -

-----

My guesses are the first question cap some Energy and start it earlier, the 2nd question i really dont know, this is the hard one and for the last my guess is the 10s delay is better but not 100% sure,

Opener should be as follows:

> Ambush

> RvS

> SS

> SnD

> SS

> SS

> SS

> KS

> SS

> AR

> Continue with normal rotation

Aim is to get RvS up 2nd global and then get a 4-5 cp SnD up on your 4th Global

SnD is pretty much your biggest source of damage so you want to get this up ASAP and maintain it all the way through the fight.

Regarding your 2nd question, pretty much every time you delay Killing Spree you are losing DPS (unless you need to AOE adds down in a few seconds or a boss mechanic dictates otherwise). If you follow the above opener, you get your main buffs rolling and your first killing spree is used at starved energy and in your first green buff. Yes you cap energy by the end of the spree (unavoidable sometimes while using spree at higher gear levels anyway) but it gets one of your main skills on CD and remember every time you cast a finisher that CD is reduced so by getting KS on CD earlier you are vastly reducing the CD on KS as you will be able to spam those fnishers when you are under the effect or AR and/or Bloodlust.

The Problem with Killing spree is its 3.5 seconds. When the fight starts with bloodlust i am so close to capping all the time and with dragonspine trophy up too i dont cap when i use sinister strike, but put in 1 SND or RvS and i cap a little, so there its basicly impossible to use killing spree with less than 100 energy, so using it would be losing at least 3 seconds energyregen. Thats the problem. I already lost around 600 haste compared to highmaul gear, but still 1500-1600 haste unbuffed and 690 gear. This is very important to me since i have really low burst. At the start of the fight im basicly at the lower end of the dps meter between 39-48k kinda on singletarget, then it stays at around 40k through out the fight and i climb the ladder, but giving some k dps more at the start with all the proccs would be really nice. Maybe dropping more haste and enchant multistrike? shadowcraft tells me its dps loss, but we have another rogue in the raid who goes full multistrike and basicly hits a much higher dps at the start of the fight.

I understand all of that, but ultimately it comes down to using KS once or twice. If you get it off as soon as humanly possible, you can get another one sooner.

Early KS has:

1) Ring proc

2) Beating heart use (if you have it), if not then another trinket proc

3) Prepot

4) Shallow Insight

While the second one will benefit from Deep Insight

3 seconds of energy regen won't give you as much damage as a buffed KS, with a second one in Deep Insight following shortly
