6.2 Buffs/Nerfs

Recommended Posts

That wouldn't have an impact on Aff 4pc 17M though.

If you have the 4pc, you have the 2pc.

2pc was nerfed.

How does that not have impact on it.

Because you're talking about a nerf in a different tier.

I'm asking why 4pc 17M is 60kdps. That's high. The nerf to tier 18 2 pc shouldn't have an impact on Tier 17 4pc being so high. It's currently 9k dps higher than destro/demo 17M 4pc. Too high, regardless of the nerfs to tier 18.

Or here's another way of putting it: forget everything else. Current tier Affliction 4 pc in mythic is simmed on DI at 60k dps. That seems to me too high.

He is talking about tier 17 Mythic tier bonus, which has remained untouched. The nerfed set was tier 18, which is what you are speaking of.

However, Liarparadox, you are incorrect, as tier 17 Mythic is simming at 50k, as can be seen here:

http://downloads.simulationcraft.org/Gahddo/Warlock_T17M.html

The tier 18 heroic set is simming at 58k. Also, seen here:

http://downloads.simulationcraft.org/Gahddo/Warlock_T18H.html

So, no, tier 17 is not even close to 60k. The tier 18 nerf had zero impact on it, and it only sims 3k higher than destro at the current moment.

Not to be too pedantic, but I'm not incorrect. I was specifically talking about Zag's sims on DI. And I was wondering why Aff 17M was so high in his particular sims. But perhaps I should have emphasized my source more.

Thanks for the links Curinir. Those look more about what I was expecting with affliction in 6.2.

Just checked it out, and yeah, it does seem odd that there is only a 400 dps difference between the two. I'd imagine he was testing them out at the same item level, so the only difference would be the tier pieces, which would have a 10 item level difference.

Just updated all the sims on Dark Intentions.  I'll be copying and transferring data to Icy-Veins, but for now, it's on Dark Intentions.

So, from what I see it's destro all the way? At least until we get more gear? There is a huge difference in numbers in those simcrafts you Zagam posted on your site.

mastery now been changed for Demo:
Mastery: Master Demonologist now increases damage dealt by the Warlock and their demon servants by 1.25% per mastery (up from 0.96%), and further increases damage dealt by Touch of Chaos, Chaos Wave, Doom, Immolation Aura, and Soul Fire while in Metamorphosis by 2.5% per mastery (up from 1.92%)

is it help anything? damage still been reduced by 25%..

Nope, same exact "buff" from page 4 of this thread.

I'm currently playing destro/aff. Seems like those two really cover all that fights pretty well. But I think demo/aff is good too. Some fights you need to be bursty, single burst/aoe burst; others not so much. Destro seems to me the most versatile right now. decent single target, great burst single target adds, great burst aoe adds. And I'm personally sick of demo so I ditched it asap. But, oddly missing it already.

Destro/?

Destro can do well for all fights.  Aff/Demo may be slightly better on a few fights, but Destro Destro Destro

Destro indeed. Only fight where Aff might have pulled ahead for me so far was Council, but Destro ended up working better for me because GM decided to tank Blademaster and Bloodboil all the way to Northrend.

Hi there!

Quite a noob lock here with a noob question:

Yesterday i went in HFC first time and did the first 4 encounters Demo Cata for Assault and Affli for Reaver/Kormrok and Council,

cause i basically only played WoD and manged to learn Affli in HM and Demo in BRF.

A lot of exp players say that Destro is the way to go in HFC, but having a look at warcraftlogs today i'm seeing Demo

is overall still performing well. What do you think about Demo Demonbolt? Can it be more "bursty" than Service/Servitude, still capable of some cleaving and generally much more forgiving in movement in comparison to Destro CR?

Thx!

Hello Alben! Thank you for posting!

Demonbolt is actually the preferred of the three talents for Demonology right now. In 6.1 Demonbolt received a 25% nerf, which made serv/serv superior to it. However, the rest of Demonology's abilities have now received that same nerf, so think of Demo as where it was pre-6.1, with Demonbolt on top. The burstiness of Demonbolt comes from your DB dumps, which occur roughly every 40 seconds, if you are doing it right. Demonology cleave is a little iffy now, mostly coming from HoG and multidotting. The mobility of Demo is fantastic, though. If you are having trouble with standing still and getting casts off, then Demonology is definitely a good option for you.

Demo will be beastly single target damage, and is superior to Destro single target (in my opinion, just for the mobility) up until you get tier/class trinket. Once you get that set of gear, Destro is top dog. If you are playing at the normal/heroic level, you could play just about any spec you want. For the most part, it shouldn't affect much. Just play what you are best at. However, at the Mythic level Destro will be the choice of spec for this tier, because it offers so much more on these fights than both Demo and Aff. Destruction has the ability to quickly switch to targets and do meaningful damage to them, whereas with Demonology, your only truly meaningful damage now comes from Demonbolt, and with Affliction you either do no damage or you spend shards on SS, starving you for later priority damage.

Also, one last thing to wrap this up. Going Cata on Hellfire Assault is a trap. If you AoE multiple Felcasters down, that very well could spell a wipe for your raid.

This was a problem we had early on with Assault. The whole raid just went balls to the wall AoE (because the top of "Damage Done" is the only place that matters, amirite?) and we'd basically get one-shot by 3 or 4 Felcasters. Took a lot of convincing to get people to just ST the things.

@ Curinir, thx for your answer mate, tonight we are resuming our raiding in HFC starting again from the Assault, at the end i've chosen to keep going with Service/Servitude with all fights until we finish Normal mode AND i get some comfortable understanding of mechanics. Our Monday's fights have been very smooth actually so i just want to focus on learning what to do without the extra burden of learning a spec anew (demonbolt or destro for me).

Once we'll move to heroic and after having looted T18 stuff i will eventually think about other setups, LFR mode helped me a lot getting the right feeling with fight timings and rotation in HM and BRF, probably that will be a wise choice for HFC also.
