Best Talents / Style

3 posts in this topic

Searched the forums and couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I typically raid with a disc priest, holy pally and either a monk or shammy. I can top the meters or come a very respectable second if the disc priest is not there. I understand how powerful the absorbs are with the priest but I feel I shouldn't drop from 1st to 4th or even 5th behind the DK tank. Gruul, Oregorger and Flame are the ones I see the biggest swings in.

What I am looking for is play-style tips not a picking apart of my logs or gear.

As an example I am currently run germination, incarnation and nature's vigil. What combination is better to reduce over healing and not battle the absorbs

Thanks for the help in advance.

Don't put too much stock in the meters; a Disc is always going to hog them during periods of lower damage simply due to the fact that their absorbs prevent health bars from going down. Look at the logs and find periods during the raid when everyone is at their maximum - you should be poring over those moments to determine if your output and efficiency is where it should be, because those are the times where a great healer will shine by being prepared and using the right abilities at the right time, and a poor one will let down the raid.

From the perspective of maximum performance where it counts, the talents you have chosen are good ones. I would not advise you to change it up just to snipe more healing from the rest of the raid. You don't mention which talent you use from T2; Ysera's Gift is my strong preference, as it ensures that at least some healing is always given to you, even if you are desperately trying to keep someone else alive.

Hi Havoclord

The scenario you describe appears to be a scenario where you shouldn't be healing at all! If you're below the tank in terms of HPS and you feel there is nothing to heal because everything is being absorbed, maybe consider you're using a healer too much? The raid encounters are designed in such way that people should drop critically low from time to time. Sadly many people interpret this as a sign of weak healers and they increase the number of healers in the group until the raid frames are kept stable around 90%+. If that is the case, it is impossible to compete as a resto druid, as you don't have many tools to snipe heals.

I'll answer your questions for two different scenarios:

If the purpose is to fight for a good spot on the meters by sniping heals I would recommend the following talents:

Go Soul of the Forest, Dream of Cenarius and Rampant Growth.

During low periods of damage you can spam Wrath and very efficiently snipe any minor heals required. When high amounts of damage occur, you can set up a Soul of the Forest empowered Wild Growth. Thanks to Rampant Growth you can also snipe heals with Swiftmend. If you unglyph your Regrowth you can do significant single target healing by alternating Regrowth and Swiftmend.

The above described advice only works if you're fighting for the numbers on the meters, in a situation where you actually aren't needed (where it wouldn't mean a wipe if you suddenly dc'ed). If the raid actually relied on you to keep them alive, you should go with the talents you mentioned yourself.

      Goooooood Afternoon Droods!
I've healed forevvvver but only been restro'ing since legion (dirty boosted char lol) I concerned about my throughput within HC atm.
It's a weird one, I'm the raid 'healer leader' and coordinate cooldowns and I fill the healer spot between a Holy Priest and Holy Pala. We don't struggle with healing and are progressing just fine...but I feel I can and should be able to give more.
I can clear Mythic+ without problems with a CRIT/MAST build, HoT stacking, and I run a HASTE/CRIT build for raids, using SoF/SM synergy with WG/Dreamwalker to try and blanket, easing the pressure that Priest if feeling on the raid and spot heals of Pala.
Here is a typical HASTE/CRIT build for raiding -
YES - that is a legendary for my OS guardian spec while I was LFR'ing last week -_- seriously salty about it hahaha
Here are my latest rankings -
Here is a log of my guild raid team that I really want to do well for, completed normal -
and here is the most our guild do in HC - (still progression so only three kills)
and here is a complete HC run I managed -
I'm after opinions and thoughts on stat weights, ideas on builds/rotations in general or on specific bosses....mainly though I would like your views on how to synergise my spot within the healer team of the guild, be that for me to squeeze in around them, or to exert my will upon them and get them to change for the greater good...all valid hypnotises will be tested and I will post results and logs back up on here.
Look forward to hearing from you all, hope your loot's all BiS this week!!
      Your friendly Resto friend.....

      ABOUT US
We are a very social guild LFM for progression/semi-casual raiding and leveling.
When we say "semi-casual," we mean that we raid two days for three hours, can laugh about a wipe but are still serious about progression. We plan to do Normal raids (not for long) before going on to Heroic and Mythic.
New players and all levels welcomed. We are VERY new player and new role friendly and have a few new players in the raid group already. We will work with you and get you trained up. So don't worry!
We do have some PvPers and an experienced RBG leader so PvP isn't out of the question.
We're almost always on Discord and we joke around a lot. Some jokes aren't appropriate so keep that in mind. (Recommended 18+)
Currently we are using the EPGP system ( The addon EPGP (DKP Reloaded), DBM, and GTFO are required to be downloaded and kept up-to-date on raid nights.
Fridays & Sundays 8pm - 11pm PST. (10pm - 1am Server Time.) NOTE: Flasks, foods, potions, and enchants will be provided for raiders on a first-come first-serve basis. People who contribute to the guild bank will also have preference. Guild repairs provided on raid nights. Trials will be provided with the aforementioned items if we can spare them after the main raiders. CURRENT PROGRESSION

I'm maining Resto Druid in Legion and I've been browsing the forums for advice and hints to improve my healing. I've found lots of information here so I thought I'd give back. One thing I failed to see anyone mention in a lot of the threads I read is the Artifact trait Dreamwalker. People were discussing ways to save mana and ways to improve their healing and I feel this accomplishes both. It's passive but I feel if you were to play close attention to making sure you have rejuv on the targets that have wild growth, you'll get much more healing out of those expensive wild growth casts. We all know the SW>WG>Flourish>EoG combo but if you prep your targets with rejuv beforehand, you can get even more healing out of this bread and butter combo. I just wanted to bring more attention to the trait because I didn't see anyone mention it. Also please feel free to leave any other tips you feel aren't being brought up often enough. Thanks guys.
