[Balance] Glyph of Moonwarding - Low survivability with and without the glyph

Recommended Posts

Hi,

since Balance Druids only have spell_nature_stoneclawtotem.jpgBarkskin to reduce incoming damage while in spell_nature_forceofnature.jpgMoonkin Form, I died various times due to Marked for Death in P3 on Blackhand Heroic with my Balance Druid.

I tried it with and without the glyph and I tried to use Bear Form, but I always died. Is there anything I can do or is this unavoidable as a Balance Druid? Or should I  use Renewal and a Healing Potion? Or should I request external cooldowns usually used and also required for the tanks?

My main character is a warlock wich has more options to reduce incoming damage and self-heal, so it was and is really hard for me to survive critical moments with a class/specc less able to do.

It is generally better to use glyph of Moonwarding or not? Or it is dependent on the fight?

I sometimes also cound not see the circle around the tank that is targeted by ability_smash.jpgShattering Smash. Is that possibly caused by my grahpic preferences?

Do you have any other tips for Blackhand? The Tips and Tricks thread is quite empty.

In general, Glyph of Moonwarding will improve your survivability due to most raid damage being magical. It's more beneficial for DPS to have higher hit point pools; you're going to be vulnerable regardless if something decides you taste good.

In handling Marked for Death in P3, you first want to make sure you're in a clear area so that you are the only one hit, and second make sure that you are properly positioned to be knocked back but not off the platform, as that will kill you instantly. It isn't so damaging that it should one-shot you with Barkskin active, but afterwards, the healers should be prepared to focus more healing on you until the Impaled bleed drops off; it is very nasty and can finish you off in one tick if you're low.

Best survival thing at P3 impale is blink (tier 1 talent). As odd as it might sound, I consider it a survival talent, as it completely negates knockback effect. As soon as you're knocked back into air - blink. You will get back in your very same spot you "took off" and you will be in range for everyone. If you die in this case - put the blame on healers.

Also as you mentioned, use Barkskin.

P.S.: Afaik glyph of barkskin is redundant, as it does nothing in PVE.

It is possible for mobs to crit you if you aren't a tank, increasing with the level difference. The solution to that problem is not to tank the boss, rather than to glyph Barkskin. Magic damage to the raid and special effects shouldn't crit you.

Personally I didn't use that glyph on our Blackhand progression, simply to reduce damage taken. There are no mechanics on Blackhand that will one-shot you anyways, so the increased health pool doesn't do much imo.

Marked for Death shouldn't be able to kill you with or without the glyph as long as you're topped off. If you're not getting topped, scream for heals or start healing yourself. At least that is better than dying thus dealing no damage at all.

If you have a Brewmaster Monk they sometimes bug the animation for Shattering Smash.
