6.2 Boomkins

Recommended Posts

Hello guys

I've been skimming through 6.2 boomkin changes and found that we've recieving some changes (nerfs). I'd like to hear your info if sth changes in our playstyle. Imo it will remain roughly the same, just a bit lower damage %.

And what about gear stat prio? :) Keep stacking mastery? :)

Hello guys

And what about gear stat prio? smile.png Keep stacking mastery? smile.png

Mastery: Total Eclipse now provides a 2.5% increase to the maximum damage bonus from Eclipse per mastery (up from 1.9%). This buff is counter-balanced by reducing the damage of Moonfire, Starfall, Starfire, Starsurge, Sunfire, and Wrath.

Moonfire (all-specializations) now deals 4% less damage.

Starfall now deals 4% less damage.

Starfire now deals 4% less damage.

Starsurge now deals 4% less damage.

Sunfire now deals 4% less damage.

Wrath (all-specializations) now deals 4% less damage

Since we're going to get even more mastery on 6.2 this might be a slight damage boost.

Ok.now i am totally confused!
AskMrRobot says about balance druids atm tha stat prio is : Int>Haste>Mastery>Critical>Multi>=Vers
IcyVeins's guide says : Int>Mastery>Critical>Haste>Multi?Vers

I know that you guys at Icy Veins work with askmrrobot,so i need to ask why there are 2 different stat priorities?

No, Mastery is still the best stat.  According to Mr. Robots tests, they found Haste is best for single target.  Seeing as there are VERY FEW fights in this instance that are actual pure single target, you're going to want to put haste last just like before.  Use Mr. Robot's Multi-Target weights.

But in reality, in the end, just gem mastery and go for the best Item level piece.  Worrying about playing the spec better is worth 10x more DPS than worrying about having the right gear.

AskMrRobot got those 2 weights :

1)Single Target that we Gem/Enchant as AskMrRobot says haste

It says that : Mastery and Haste are your strongest single-target stats. Multi, Crit, and Mastery are strong for multi-target. Our testing has found that Haste > Mastery > Crit gives good theoretical damage for both situations.

2)T18 Class Trinket(Multi Target) we Gem/Enchant as AskMrRobot says Critical

It says that : Your T18 class trinket is not a DPS gain (or loss) for single-target, but it is a significant upgrade for multi-target. These stat weights are optimized for having T18 and the class trinket - the main difference being that you will want to stack Crit.

So now i Gem/Enchant : Mastery and when i get T18 gear(4/4 or 2/2 set ??) and a trinket(Which one ??) i Gem/Enchant critical?

You can change the stat weights yourself and put master ahead of crit.  (Should just be Mastery > Crit Multi >= Haste)

Really the best thing is to sim yourself to get your personalized weights for your gear.  But again.  It does not really matter.  Just get the better ilvl gear (try to avoid versatility unless its like a 20+ ilvl upgrade)

You can also use this simple spreadsheet to compare 2 items.  Just make a copy of it and change the weights to something similar to what Mr. Robot has: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xqzOy8S6GdGmruqnUx_3PJq43rH3lYPMFg8M0YaocsQ/edit#gid=0

As for trinkets, I'm not sure. I haven't kept up with any of the trinkets for boomkin.

Ok i got it now,but i have one more question i was looking "Gearing Up And Best In Slot" for balance druids here at Icy Veins!
https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/balance-druid-pve-dps-gear-loot-best-in-slot

It goes from the least good to the better ones until BIS at all lists (except trinkets that goes from the better ones to least good)?
Cause if it goes like this i will check only Icy Veins for my BIS and not AskMrRobot anymore :D
AskMrRobot too confusing!

Should i swap out my 4set t17 for 2set t18?

No

Update: I think I'm wrong. I've had some differing opinions recently, but I think its safe to say that yes, the 2 pc is good to have.  I'm sorry for my miscommunication.

hello ! on simcraft i saw that Soul of the forest is the best dps talent, is it right ? is it because we leave the t17,or something with t18 ?
Also, i would like to know i've used a bislist like this :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uqNqltiA3nidAvPZa6PMNIT2IJI493vCh6bL2crBRAo/edit#gid=0
For the past raid, did one of you guys made one or have one for the new raid ?

What do you mean, you were 'on simcraft'? did you run your own sims? how many iterations / fight settings did you use? Did you use any specific trinkets?

Over long single target fights (where you use 0 starfalls) and lasts more than 6.5~ minutes, SotF may start to pull ahead, of which there are maybe 2 fights in HFC now that are like this.

Anytime you cast starfall with SotF speced, you're losing out on a lot of potential DPS with the talent.  The last time we had SotF 'debate' was with the Butcher and with Gruul, but both were found to be too short of a fight to warrant the use of SotF.

For BIS gear go at AskMrRobot...It has and mastery build not only critical and haste!

If you need any other help write it here, about AskMrRobot BIS list i will try to help you!

BTW,you can check here at Icy Veins the gear list BUT you have to find BIS gear yourself cause Icy Veins's list is placed alphabetically and by item level!

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Gear does not matter. Get the higher Item level piece, then switch to more mastery/crit if it doesn't already.

Getting better at your rotation is worth 10x as much DPS than a single piece of gear,

It's not a new thought, and it's also been said before as well in other forums, but let me just, as a recent balance convert, second what Krazyito is saying: work your rotation before worrying about secondaries. Secondaries most likely won't help get the kill, but perfecting the rotation most certainly will.

A short list of my 'issues' after taking up balance (which I last did probably in the middle of wotlk; it's not quite the same these days smile.png):

  • Since starfall is a lunar spell I kinda figured it was best to only do it in lunar phase. And while this might be theoretically correct, in reality it doesn't seem to be for me. On AoE fights just keep it up 100% if you can, no matter the phase, and then focus priority target(s) with main rotation - worked wonders for me on Xhul'horac
  • Practice the rotation. It's simple enough, but I still find myself doing wrath in lunar and vice versa.
  • Especially after adding Euphoria I had to re-practice, since it changed everything I was settling into, but it helps a lot in managing the dots (the SF every peak, MF every other peak I'm doing now might not be optimal, but it's quite easy to maintain with some addon (= WA for me) support
  • In single target mode, I tend to try to save my starsurges for lunar phase, since Starfire is the max DPET'er of the two; I like to always reserve one for the next lunar, which is usually easy enough with shooting stars procs, thus not using them often in solar phases; kinda of a filler phase for me really
  • Trying to get the timing right of starsurging for starfires at peak is very tricky; there's also a built-in annoyance in the spec imo, that sometimes it's just not possible using Euphoria, since the cycle is so fast paced, that casting a starfire can often mean that you're very close to the peak when it lands, and just the GCD used on starsurge is enough that the next starfire will never be very close to the peak - I suspect this is even worse when the T17 set bonuses are gone. Long rant, point is, I think the advanced play here is to be able to consistently time this correctly, so you cast 'fillers' close to peaks as much as possible.

I'm not claiming these points are optimal; not even claiming they're close to that, I don't know really, but it works for me, and this is just added to this thread in the hope that some might find inspiration or help in this, and that's it's not too off optimal play wink.png

Greetings

I am talking about the "official" simcraft this one http://www.simulationcraft.org/reports/Raid_T18H.html(the mythic one is not out yet so)
About bis list, i feel pretty confident about what i'm gonna have but i prefer have some "paper" confirmation ^^ i like mr robot i use it very often but it's not as fast as a table for looking quickly to my bislist (like in raid)
Off-set looks like to be gloves,

Bis trinket : Desecrated Shadowmoon Insignia + Seed of Creation

according to this post http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1808537-Balance-Practicality-of-AOE-trinket-vs-SoC-in-HFC-fights
