Help with my Destro DPS

7 posts in this topic

HI Motiv,

A few minor issues in your logs:

Immolate uptime. Perhaps you had to move a lot/boss was out of range but your DoT fell off several times during the ground phases.

Generally quite a few missed casts (aka you were not casting anything) during the ground phase. Are you banking Conflags for movement? At one point (which I assume was the air phase) you did not cast a damaging spell for 26 seconds.

As a result damage on bombs very very low. Havoc and SB usage low. This can be a bad luck thing if you are never near spawn points but did you seek them out? (Running through fire is possible though probably should not let my healers see me do that!).

Resource wise you tend to stay too high as you still have the T17 2 set. You don't want to miss out on free embers.

Overall number of CBs during DS too low. It seemed you had to move once or even twice but do you think that you could have timed better?

During procs I'd advise to dump more/all embers (assuming you are not going to DS very soon).

Do you feel you really need Unending Resolve? A constant 10% reduction would save more of the healers' mana. Do you really feel that you need Dark Bargain? Could you use your teleport and/or gateways for something?

Hope this helped and good luck.

Spikey, I appreciate the feed back. However, I realized there was another lock in the group. My locks name is Pingesee. I just wanted to make sure you looked at the right one because you mentioned the 2 piece when I had the 4.

I am pretty sure he was looking at you. The other lock was affliction and has none of the spells that Spikey pointed out.

Yeah it was Pingesee that I was looking at and if you haven't realised yet I was looking at your Iron Reaver log smile.png

I only said 2 set as I saw from the logs that you have it still and that is what gives you the free embers. The 4 set doesn't matter in this instance.

As to multi-target fights your possible DPS partly depends on your raid group for example how many people are stealing your executes and if the tanks stack nicely. So again "Always be Casting", watch DoT uptimes and minimise movement by using your tools. Then on top learn to maximise Havoc use, more CBs! (especially F&B ones as appropriate), snipe SB kills with a mouseover and it will be even faster paced so watch your resources carefully.

Oh and edited to add during progress priority target damage>overall damage,

First all, glad to be here.  Secondly, I have some friends playing and they need me to play a single target DPS machine.  Right now, I'm thinking Rogue, or Arms Warrior.  Possibly Mage or Shaman as a backup selection.
Warrior can also tank if need be.  I had considered Paladin, but I have heard they can't do well in Mythic stuff?

      ABOUT US
We are a very social guild LFM for progression/semi-casual raiding and leveling.
When we say "semi-casual," we mean that we raid two days for three hours, can laugh about a wipe but are still serious about progression. We plan to do Normal raids (not for long) before going on to Heroic and Mythic.
New players and all levels welcomed. We are VERY new player and new role friendly and have a few new players in the raid group already. We will work with you and get you trained up. So don't worry!
We do have some PvPers and an experienced RBG leader so PvP isn't out of the question.
We're almost always on Discord and we joke around a lot. Some jokes aren't appropriate so keep that in mind. (Recommended 18+)
Currently we are using the EPGP system ( The addon EPGP (DKP Reloaded), DBM, and GTFO are required to be downloaded and kept up-to-date on raid nights.
Fridays & Sundays 8pm - 11pm PST. (10pm - 1am Server Time.) NOTE: Flasks, foods, potions, and enchants will be provided for raiders on a first-come first-serve basis. People who contribute to the guild bank will also have preference. Guild repairs provided on raid nights. Trials will be provided with the aforementioned items if we can spare them after the main raiders. CURRENT PROGRESSION
Emerald Nightmare, [7/7N] [1/7H] OTHER EVENTS

Hey guys, I've been playing Fire mage for the first time since Legion. I did my research on almost everything you need to know on Fire Mages. I've spent hours on the rotation and I believe that I've almost mastered it.
Now, the reason I am posting on the forum is because I need advise...
I can't seem to exceed as much as I am suppose to as a fire mage. If I compare myself to what I see on Warcraft logs, fire mages of my ITL, are almost always first or second DPS. And even my fire mage guildie that is slightly under gear does much more damage then me on every fight...
I believe that my gear is decent and so is my artifact tree... I do have decent trinkets ... So my conclusion is that I am missing something in my rotation, or that I am prioritizing something that I am not suppose to...
Could anyone help me out? I have my latest Warcraft logs, here is one of them
If you need any more , I could link the entire raid last week.
      Thank you!!
