Mistweaver Advice

Recommended Posts

Hey, I've been a Windwalker for the majority of this expansion but with the relase of Hellfire Citadel I was asked to go healing for my guild. I have a 713 ilvl and have cleared heroic and feel comfortable in my healing as i have been healing the majority of my 9 years playing the game, but in the raids my healing seems to always be dragging behind some of the other healers (disc priest and resto shaman mainly). I am constantly keeping renewing mists up and blanketing the raid with it and using uplift on spam when the raid takes damage, keeping soothing mists on the tank with aggro and using enveloping mists on the tank when they drop below 75% and using RJW in aoe healing stacked up situations. So in my mind i am doing everything I can do to be "up there" but thought i would make this post incase there is anything that I have missed.

As for weapon enchants does anyone have any opinions regarding using mark of the frostwolf over the spirit weapon enchant? is it worth while?

Thanks in advance for reading :)

This is the one thing we ask for when someone wants advice, so if you can get some then please do so.

As for general advice, don't bother with enveloping mists, a lot of it will go into overhealing.  A mistweaver's niche is it's ability to do a large amount of raid/AoE healing outside of cooldowns, largely due to ReM, Uplift, and RJW.  Using ReM smartly also comes into play with the t18 4pc, as the extend life buff can very easily save some.  Do note that MW's don't really shine until you have a larger group size, simply because in smaller groups you'll be constantly overwriting active ReM's, which causes it to not jump to other people.  Regarding the weapon enchant, use a spirit one if you feel you need more spirit, and frostwolf otherwise.

I raid with a disc priest and a resto shammy, and I'm always below them so I wouldn't worry tbh , once disc priest pops shields it's sorta game over where you want to get above them, well that's what I've found!!.

There won't be many cases in which you could surpass the disc (although they exist). Especially when overgearing content. Against shamans maybe it's a tie.

About enveloping mists:

There are some fights in which EM is really worth casting - namely: Kilrogg and Soc. In these fights keep an enveloping on one Blood/Mark target and extend life on the other for kickass heals.

About RM usage...

You really wont want to simply spam RM as it comes off cooldown. Its better if you bank it (keep it around 2-3 but avoid wasting CDs) and use it prior big AOE or cleave damage (so you also maximize extend life). It is also good to keep at least one stack in you queue so you can use it for single target healing. **

** Uplift and then throw RM on the injured target as soon as the cast ends. Because extend life has a delay, this new target will get the ~150k+ heal from the previous uplift.

One last thing: Sacred incense is a veeery situatuonal trinket, and on overall it sucks besides 20man+ gorefiend/council/tyrant.

They say Emulsion is the very BiS, but unfortunately it won't count on your meters. Ppl did the math (theres also an addon to measure leech healing) and it shows that the leech healing from Emulsion is really high for monks.

The other trinkets are fine and close to each other. On my toon, I've currently got Phylactery (good mana saving for soothing mist), Intuition's gift (good burst healing) and Iron Reaver Piston (most ppl would say it sucks, but there are actually a lot of cases in which i really don't need the spirit and RJW)
