wow Physical and Digital Legion CE Pre-Orders

1 post in this topic

Many users had issues with the pre-ordering of Warlords of Draenor due to the fact that they wanted to benefit from the online rewards, but also receive the physical collector's edition. Check out the latest Blizzard post and their plans for Legion!

For those of you that aren't aware, there has been issues in the past in regards to purchasing the game as a physical copy or as a digital one. Players that wish to get a physical collector's edition will often have to wait to play the game, rather than logging in at midnight with everyone else on launch.

The solution to this was essentially to buy the game twice, once as a digital standard edition and then as a physical collector's edition. For many players, this was a problem since they were expecting Blizzard to reimburse them for the initial edition they had purchased. Instead, they were left with a second key to pass around to a friend. They would still benefit from all the bonuses of the CE, but they were left with a SE key rather than a refund.

While this was a problem in the past, it seems it's going to be more of a problem with Legion. Not only are Blizzard going to stick with the same model as with Warlords of Draenor, but they now have time sensitive bonuses. When Legion is released, players that have bought the game in advance will be able to experience the Demon Hunter early, allowing them to play it and level to 100 before the release. The problem is, how can players that have ordered physical edition receive these same rewards?

They have no way to receive their physical copies earlier than the release currently, so they cannot upgrade their accounts without purchasing a second key. As expected, the community is extremely unhappy.

This was the blue post that was put out by Nethaera on the US forums:

Blizzard Icon Nethaera on Legion CE

With the digital version of World of Warcraft: Legion currently available for pre-purchase, we know many of you are interested in getting your level-100 character boost now and early access to the new Demon Hunter before launch. We also know many of you are planning to get the Collector’s Edition of Legion once it’s in stores, but would still like to get in on the action with your boost sooner rather than later.

To help you do both, we’ve set up a process similar to the one for Warlords of Draenor to receive a replacement Legion game key once you upgrade to the Collector’s Edition. Just follow these steps:

1. Pre-purchase a digital version of Legion now and begin using the included character boost immediately.
2. Pick up your Collector’s Edition pre-order once Legion releases.
3. Enter your Collector’s Edition key on your Battle.net Account Management page.
4. Contact Blizzard Customer Support for a replacement of your original Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition Key.
5. Give the shiny new digital key to a friend!

We’ll provide more information, including additional details on what’s inside the Collector’s Edition, in the near future.

You can also check out the discussions on Reddit.

Patch 7.1.5 brings new Artifact Knowledge catch-up options for both mains and alts.
We'll be able to catch up on Artifact Knowledge in Patch 7.1.5 using Order Resources.
The main source of Order Resources is the Blood of Sargeras trader in Dalaran. You can buy Order Resources Cache that will give 200 Order Resources for one Blood of Sargeras. Bloods are farmed via World Quests and Heroic+ dungeons.
      Main Characters
A new quest was added to your Class Hall called Knowledge is Power. You need to turn in 500 Order Resources to get Artifact Research Synopsis.  The quest is repeatable and can be completed until you reach Artifact Knowledge level 15. After that you will need to place work orders as usual. A total of 7,500 Order Resources is thus required to reach said AK level. That's 37.5 Bloods of Sargeras.

      Alts
Depending on the Artifact Knowledge level of your main, you can purchase research compendiums and mail them to your alts. These items are bound to your Battle.net account.
Artifact Research Compendium: Volume I Artifact Research Compendium: Volumes I & II Artifact Research Compendium: Volumes I-III Artifact Research Compendium: Volumes I-IV As an example, if you have Artifact Knowledge Level 15, you can buy Artifact Research Compendium: Volumes I & II for 1,000 Order Resources. I think every 5 levels of Artifact Knowledge will unlock a new compendium. If you use the item without any research documents, you instantly reach Artifact Knowledge level 10 (it's like that on PTR right now).
