Just needing help with my Hunter

Recommended Posts

Hi all I'm new to Wow. I'm a good 11 days old to the game but feel like I've force feed most everything I have learned to which most is still written down on about 25 sheets of paper lol

I have read forum after forum and been to every beginners guide there is but still have questions. Most of the content in the beginners guide I understand but after a pat on the head and a welcome to WOW I have found most of the other is over my head. I've had help off and on but a lot of my questions are general. I've tried to learn as much about my Beast Mastery Hunter as I can (Blood Elf) but still run into brick walls. I went from a level 26 to a 100 by boosting and never really got the basics down as well as I should have.

I understand helping a newbie isn't a favorite thing. Most folks help only to become tired of dealing with being ask questions so they slowly start to fade on away from you. I'm doing everything I've been told from my Garrison stuff to daily's. I just learned I could search for groups to help me with the daily's after 4 days of trying to do it myself. You want to talk about frustration. What most frustrated me was that this simple piece of info could have saved me days of getting no where. I want to become a great player who can in turn help others because being a beginner is probably the worst experience I've ever had coming into the MMO world.

So, without killing the interest of folks, can someone please take me under their wing for simple questions. Questions like, I have gear that is higher item level in my bag but I lose some of my beast mastery if I equip it. What do I do? Lose some beast mastery for the item level? Why is it when I go into raids and I have been fighting for 10 minutes and everyone else can loot the boss I can't? These are very simple questions but it isn't explained anywhere on any of the sites.

Thanks in advance for any help. My game play name is Walelawaya

First off, welcome to WoW and more importantly welcome to being a Hunter. :)

If you haven't already experimented with addons, I suggest you do, as many of them are a big Quality of Life improvement, such as adding icons/bars/auras to your screen to be able to track items (Weak Auras 2, has a slight learning curve for the basics and a larger curve for the more complex stuff), or changing the nameplates (Tidy Plates, for example), or being able to quickly see which pieces of gear is better than another (Pawn, note that pawn doesn't take into account any procs or set bonuses, so keep that in mind).  Pawn in particular can help you with deciding on gear choices, provided you have the correct stat weights.  If you decide that you don't want to use any addons, which is entirely fine, then please note which items you have so that we here can see and help you make decisions.  One other website that works is to use Ask Mr. Robot, but you have to be careful that you understand what you are doing when using AMR, but it is generally a good place for gearing advice.

To answer your second question: you can only loot a boss on a particular difficulty once per week, and even on your first kill each week loot is not guaranteed (you will be able to loot the boss provided you participated, but there is a chance to only get gold and not gear).  If you're doing LFR (looking for raid, in the group finder), then there is a yellow triangle warning symbol on the wings which you've already done that says that you've killed X boss already this week and that you won't get loot from it.

Also, remember that everyone begins somewhere, and it's never too late to learn something new.

You have been given some good advice. I too, struggled with my hunter in the beginning. One suggestion I have is to download and install Curse Client to use for getting your addons. There is a hunter specific addon called JSHB. That would be the first I would get. It has been very helpful to me. Another one to use (just until you get your rotation down) is Ovale. I find Marksman easier to play. I'm sure that is just a personal preference, though.  I too, have spent hours researching and sometimes that all just runs together. Good luck to you, it gets easier and easier!
