Throne of Thunder Discipline Priest Style

Recommended Posts

There is still people that read this thread, that don't post. You're doing a great job informing people of these things as you progress with your valuable input.

It's just unfortunate that The IV forums aren't as popular as MMO-C or EJ because, they just haven't been around long enough to have people want to come check out the forums.

I recently have found a little bit of extra time since I just finished school and am hoping to contribute more as I see.

Tips for Heroic Horridon:

Glyphs: Glyph of Holy Fire - the extra 10 yards comes in handy when you've got the pink dinosaur on you!

Talents: Mindbender - can set it on the dinosaur once you get it and then you don't need to worry about the dino for 20 seconds.

General tips:

Try to save Spirit Shell for Dire Call - conveniently on a ~60 second cooldown, so you should be able to SS everyone.

Be wary of holding back SS if the dinomancer is low, few times I get caught out because I've been watching timers instead of checking to see if dinomancer is down. Think it's door 3 where I usually get into trouble with it. If the dinomancer is down and the orbs been clicked, delay spirit shell a few seconds otherwise it'll just go to waste!

I've generally found I can just atonement heal the majority of this fight, given that horridon takes more and more damage each door.

This fight really is a discipline priests dream and perfectly suited for us. Mass Dispel is pretty OP for the 1st door and the 60 second CD of Dire Call means we can spirit shell it each time!

Some tips for Ji-Kun heroic

1. Take Posted ImageAngelic Feather it will help you not to fall when Posted ImageDown Draft starts and you can help people who are having trouble by placing a feather under them.

2. Ask a raid leader to put you in one group with people who you are flying with.

3. Take Posted ImageGlyph of Binding Heal it will help you to top people in a nest.

4. Take Posted ImageCascade it will help you heal people on later stages of the fight when almost all of the platform is filled with slime and it is hard to stack together on Quills

5. Make extensive use of Posted ImagePrayer of Mending.

6. If you have the opportunity to get Posted ImagePrimal Nutriment take it! It will significally buff your attonement healing.

7. Posted ImagePower Infusion is a must have talent for this fight.

PLEASE EDIT THE ORIGINAL POST TO INCLUDE HEROICS!

Hi 8/13 heroic with myself (disc), 1 shaman and 1 druid on most fights. Currently 522 ilvl

Heroic Jin'rok:

As stated, body and soul speed up shield. Atonement heal from the pools. Shield yourself and as many people as you want for ionization dispelling. Use cascade for lightning phases as damage is low in the pools (don't need divine star). Use power infusion and spirit shell before storms.

Heroic Horridon:

Use mindbender on dino. Atonement horridon. Ignore people who say don't use mass dispell you should have plenty of mana and blazing does quite a lot of damage. Use SS+Archangel on dire calls. I prefer Divine Insight to infusion as you end up shielding the tanks all the time so the extra shield really helps (I use penance on cd more or less). Use pom on tanks on cd (as usual). Final phase blow cds for extra boss then focus on tanks - use SS on tanks you can let the other healer/atonement get the raid.

Heroic Council:

We had the frostbite stand separate and use pain suppression and other cds to heal through it. Use rogue's smokescreen to avoid other frostbites. Atonement on sul then use cds on kaz. We 4 healed, 1 tank so recommend using divine insight again as the tank takes tons of damage and extra shield helps. Use Void Tendrils on every add that spawns.

Heroic Tortos:

Switch to holy. Disc is terrible for this encounter.

Heroic Meg:

Divine Star is great for this fight as the rampages are the worst part. If someone gets ice just as you are about to stack, have them call out for a life grip. For rampages use POM on cd, DS on cd, and poh spam the rest. Again I prefer divine insight because of the huge tank damage. I was responsible for the green head tank which takes the most and DI really helps the damage. Try to SS before each rampage. I used mindbender as sometimes I was running around/healing the raid and couldn't use holy fire on cd.

For ccing the adds, use psyfiend but only with the glyph of psychic scream to ensure they stay put. If they start running everywhere it causes too much chaos. I used angelic feathers to help people running from ice without wasting the mana and debuff of a shorter length shield sprint. Also can feather the tanks right before stacking.

Heroic Ji'kun:

Use barrier during quills and set up SS beforehand. I prefer divine insight again as the tank damage is huge compared to the raid for most of the encounter. Other cds should be easy enough to survive every quill. Agree that Angelic Feather is great for down draft. Grip people if they are about to fall off.

Heroic Primordius:

Get 4 stacks of good buffs and use standard tricks to heal the raid then 1 more stack before it expires to get ~3 1/2 minutes of buffs. Cascade is best because of the spread raid. Since the tank is kiting the boss, go to the center to SS as any of the sides lead to range issues. Learn the bosses possible abilities in terms of the amount of raid damage. Tank damage taken is huge here. I kept using mindbender on the boss as the damage reduction does not change the mana return. Barrier is pretty worthless for most of the encounter.

Heroic Iron Qon:

P1: Put all those stacking in one group if you can so that SS and POH work much better. SS before and during stack damage. We had 4 stack each time as the damage is split over the group (instead of 3). Power infusion is great for quick efficient SS. Divine star is useful for this also.

P2: Place barrier right before storm so that he pulls everyone into it! Pre-place feathers for anyone running. Grip people stuck in the storm and be ready to void shift. Dodge frost spikes on the ground. Recommend using Hymn of Hope right after the first frost spike on transition into P2 (will be up again near the end).

P3: Don't atonement on shielded boss. Take the time to restore lost mana.

P4: SS for the transition as it can be rough. Coordinate healing cds. Use power infusion and SS before spears to help buffer damage. Use POM and Divine Star on cd. Barrier is a great cd. Don't let anyone stack who still has the lightning debuff. Had to heal through it tonight and it was awful.

Other Heroics posted as we down them!

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      To all who read,
I am a WoW player and have been since vanilla, I’ve played several variances of classes through the expansions and this round settled with shadow priest which I ran through the majority of Legion and BfA. I have never written a guide or forum post before but decided I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and see how other players in the same position feel as well.

I would like to ask people to respect everyone’s opinion as this forum topic will be a place for unusual class builds, talent choices, and stat priorities. Everyone plays the game for fun and should be able to build a toon that is effective utilizing a multi style approach. I do believe that the simulators are awesome for checking gear and choices when it comes to specific cases perhaps PvP. That being said though, I feel as though sims are not really a good indicator of a talent choice or gear piece’s level of effectiveness. I am by no means a tremendously good player, probably average to be honest, but ask any top tier player and they will tell you very rarely does a pull go “perfect” for their class. these simulations then are only showing if something goes perfect, so I thought why not build a class around what “actually” happens versus the “perfect pull”, so that is what I did.
I would love to hear what other players thoughts on the matter are and list what your individual stat priorities are and maybe discuss why!
      mine are as follows;
      1.) Mastery = Versatility
(both of these boost damage output but versatility is not limited by number of DoTs so it helps if you are struggling to keep skills on targets.)
2.) Haste (this increases the amount of ticks per cast, when paired with high Vers and mastery you deal large DoT damage which is great if you’re in a high movement fight.)
      3.) Critical
This for many reasons is great. First, shadowy app procs, and secondly just plain damage bumps. Lastly, and arguably most important though is the shadow word death damage boost. When we execute (comparing to warrior skill) it deals increased damage naturally to targets below 20% health I believe. When you pair this with high mastery Vers and a decent crit chance you can execute for incredibly high amounts of damage to help that end fight dps chart!
