heroes HotS: Europe Spring Regional Results

1 post in this topic

It was a great weekend at IEM Katowice 2016, especially for Heroes of the Storm! We saw the best European teams clash for two spots in the Spring Global Championship.

The two European teams that will be going to South Korea are Dignitas and mYinsanity. Other notable European teams, like Virtus Pro and Fnatic (3rd-4th places) as well as Na’vi and Team Liquid, were left behind.

While both Dignitas and mYinsanity have qualified, it was Dignitas who took the 1st place and earned $25,000 USD, along with the right to skip the first group stage at the Spring Global Championship. Interestingly enough, Dignitas had lost by mYinsanity during the group stage. However, they managed to come out victorious out of the losers bracket and they also sweeped Fnatic during the semi-finals. Dignitas proceeded to sweep the finals against mYinsanity, too, proving why they are considered one of the best teams in the world.

The Spring Global Championship will take place at Seoul, South Korea on April 1st 2016. You can also read the results of the previous week’s NA Spring Regional here.

Lastly, head here if you are interested in the ESL Hearthstone Legendary Series tournament, that also took place this weekend in Katowice.

Blizzard has released a new video and a neat webpage, offering some details on the new league system coming to the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC) in 2017.
A month ago, we offered some primary details on the format of the 2017 Heroes Global Championship. Now, Blizzard has published a rough timeline and some more specific information on the new HGC format.
The qualifiers for the top 4 regions (NA, Europe, Korea and China) will begin in November and December with 6 spots in each region being up for grabs. There are already two qualified teams for NA (Denial Esports, Astral Authority), Europe (Team Dignitas, Fnatic) and Korea (MVP Black, Ballistix), while the China ones have yet to be determined.
After each of the four regions has its 8 best teams, League Play will begin. Teams from all regions will be pitted against each other in weekly, livestream matches. There will be Clashes twice a year, where the top three teams from each regions will be joined by the top teams from ANZ, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan in invitational exhibitions.
Moreover, there will be a Midseason Brawl on May/June; this is an elite global competition featuring 12 pro teams from every HGC region. Lastly, the Crucible events (happening twice a year) will allow teams from the Open Division to compete with the pros.
You can check the website introducing HGC 2017 here or you can watch the video below for a concise summary:

It's time for a new Heroes Brawl and it's truly insane this week!
Hammer Time lets you call down the thunder and claim Belltowers on Towers of Doom with 10 Sgt. Hammers. Oh and by the way, Thrusters will be permanently active for everyone.

Queue up with either Sgt. Hammer or Sgt. Doomhammer and battle on Towers of Doom. The first team to acquire more belltowers to destroy the enemy core is victorious. Thrusters are permanently active for all players. Rewards
No worries, for completing three matches of Hammer Time you will get your just rewards! It's again, 1,000 Gold and a Sgt. Hammer "flex" portrait.

Are you enjoying Heroes Brawl so far? What are your fondest memories?
