The Month Ahead in World of Warcraft: April

Recommended Posts

19737-the-month-ahead-in-world-of-warcra

Unsure of what's going on in April in World of Warcraft? Here's our survival guide for this month!

Most of this month's action happened at its very beginning with the various April Fool's jokes by Blizzard. The Legion patch notes was by far the most popular one, while you can vote for your favourite one in this poll until April 11.

Since there are no major world events in April (apart from Noblegarden, which ended on Monday), make sure you make the most out of this month by participating in the weekly events. Here they are:

6th-11th April: The Pet Battle Bonus Event started today and we will have an article about it very soon! During this event, battle pet experience is increased by 200%.

13th-18th April: Arguably, Cataclysm was the expansion with the most challenging dungeons ever. Remember a time when dungeons were actually hard with the Cataclysm Timewalking Event!

20th-25th April: As usual, at least one week per month the Apexis Crystal Bonus Event is up.

27th April - 2nd May: The last event of this month, which carries on for two days in May, is the Arena Skirmishes Bonus Event.

Darkmoon Faire

Darkmoon Faire is currently underway and it will run until the 9th of April. If you haven't grabbed any of the pets, mounts or achievements yet, the time to do it is right now!

Don't forget to check out our guide for Darkmoon Faire.

Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza

Like we've said, April is a quiet month and doesn't feature any major world events. As an alternative, you can try your luck in the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing competition that happens every Sunday.

The competition can get pretty hectic, especially if you are in a high population server. However, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you make it through:

  • Bind your inv_misc_rune_01.jpgHearthstone to the Inn in Booty Bay for a quick return.
  • Track fishing nodes in your minimap via inv_misc_fish_02.jpgFind Fish.
  • inv_potion_166.jpgElixir of Water Walking can be useful in some situations.
  • Get your friends to help you. If you have a Warlock in the party, they can summon you back at Booty Bay (although the first tip is still recommended). They can also scout for fishing nodes for you, kill of the opposite faction competition or post fake announcements in the map chat.
  • Everything is allowed! This is war!
  • Make sure you know which reward you want and select it quickly in the end. Don't waste any time deciding.

Speaking of the rewards/prizes, here they are:

1st Place: You can choose between inv_fishingpole_01.jpgArcanite Fishing Poletrade_fishing.jpgHook of the Master Anglerinv_boots_cloth_21.jpgBoots of the Bay, inv_fabric_mageweave_02.jpgHigh Test Eternium Fishing Line and inv_jewelry_ring_39.jpgDread Pirate Ring.

2nd Place: You can choose between inv_boots_cloth_21.jpgBoots of the Bay or inv_jewelry_ring_39.jpgDread Pirate Ring

3rd Place: You will merely get a inv_fabric_mageweave_02.jpgHigh Test Eternium Fishing Line as a reward.

Lastly, there are various interesting streaming community events and podcasts this month. If you want to learn more about them, head over to the official site for an overview of everything WoW-related happening in April.

Cache of Timewarped Treasures obtained from Black Temple Timewalking quest this week has a chance to contain Ashes of Al'ar!
Don't forget to complete this week's Timewalking raid! If you're having trouble getting into a group, create your own one, invite 2 tanks 4-5 healers and around 14 DPS and you are all set! Visit Shattrath, and talk to the Timewalking NPC to queue up for the raid.
The raid is extremely easy to compete and what's more, you get item level 493 loot along your way.
Upon defeating Illidan Stormrage and completing the quest, you will receive Cache of Timewarped Treasures that has an increased chance of containing Ashes of Al'ar or another piece of gear.
Demon Hunters shouldn't forget to get their warglaives transmog arsenal from Illidan and the reputation buff will help you add a couple of mounts to your collection!

Tama's Dragonflight Helper is a Weakaura that displays a weekly to-do list in the game and it's been updated for Dragonflight Season 4!
The WeakAura is very useful for keeping track of everything in the game at max level. It shows you a to-do list with the weekly tasks, provides you with the locations of rares, super rares, information about your current Renown standing, and more.

You will find Tama's Dragonflight Helper at wago.io. Please note that you must first download and install WeakAuras 2 to import the string.

Cataclysm's Grim Batol has been added to the Mythic+ Dungeon rotation in The War Within Season 1, and one boss received a brand new model recently on the Alpha.
General Umbriss, the first boss of the dungeon, got a shiny new model, which is quite different from his previous one. Below is a screenshot of the old a new model.

Blizzard have clarified why players are able to get a full Spark of Awakening through the two available Splinters in the first week of Dragonflight Season 4, and it seems it's only for this week and only due to catch-up rules being enabled!
      Splintered Spark (Source)
Just want to confirm this with some details.
Everyone essentially started Season 4 in catch-up mode. Players were able to get 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening from the weekly quest, whether that’s the weekly “Last Hurrah” quest or the PvP weeklies offered by Malicia.
And then you’re able to get another splinter / half-spark from any valid catch-up sources, such as Mythic+, Awakened Raids, and PvP wins.
Next week and thereafter, only one Splintered Spark is obtainable every week. And like Seasons 2 and 3, with the increasing cap on Splintered Sparks per week, and if you ever fall behind you will be able to get Splintered Sparks from any catch-up source.
