Comparing the best enh shaman

8 posts in this topic

Hi

I came to learn that icy veins guides are now certified as the best from the best ( kudos ). And the first thing I did was look up the best enh shaman noted in the article as purge. When I looked up his gemming I am totally confused. I thought agi was the main gemming requirement for enh shaman but Purge has only haste and very little agi.

Can any one explain how it helps and if it is a high level trick I would like to understand how I/anyone can learn off from it.

How does it improve DPS... haste???? !!!!

1) Purge has a 531 ilvl, which means he has almost full heroic T15 gear. Even without gemming for agility, he has almost 19,000 unbuffed. The stat priorities on Icy-Veins are usually tuned around high-end raid gear and might not always be the best solution for your situation.

2) You get more of the secondary stats from gems than you do primary stats, by a 2:1 ratio. 320 Haste on a yellow gem takes the place of 160 Agi from a red gem, or 80 Agi and 160 Haste from an orange gem (IIRC). If 2 Haste is better for DPS than 1 Agi, then it's better to gem straight haste. Also, Enhancement mail has a ton of yellow sockets in it.

3) Playing properly and using trinket procs, potions, etc. properly gives you a much bigger DPS increase than simply using the right gems, anyway. The very best players could probably do whatever they wanted and still stomp the meters.

I wanted to add something to what Tarazet already said. In our Enhancement Shaman guides, you will notice that we give two statistic priorities and two gemming strategies, depending on whether you have RPPM trinkets or not. In the case of Purge, he does have RPPM trinkets and his gemming strategy is exactly what we are advising for players with RPPM trinkets.

RPPM stands for "Real Procs per Minute" and refers to trinkets which have a random proc chance to give you a significant buff.

I found this explaining how haste helps in proc..http://us.battle.net...ic/6893549789#1

on a side note. I didnt execpt this but this post got 240+ views.. Quite an achivement for me :)

So basically if you have really high enough gear haste helps with procs that helps in dps. So the question now is how do we know how much AGI is enough for a enh shaman? Is there a number that you can say is the maximum agi you need. after that move the rest to other stats

So the question now is how do we know how much AGI is enough for a enh shaman? Is there a number that you can say is the maximum agi you need.

This question is rarely easy to pin an answer to for most classes. At a very high ilvl, you have to do very personal math to find out when enough is enough. Many great damage dealers have to do a lot of personal math to squeeze a little more damage out of their gear.

I do not have a geared enhancement shaman but I presume that once you start entering the tier of heroic gear, you can experiment and find out what agility level works best for you, but it regretfully might not be accurate for another shaman due to different item choices and opportunities.

How much Stamina is enough for a tank? Generally, enough to survive the biggest unavoidable hit. How much main stat is enough for a DPS? That's harder to say. It's just one coefficient of several, and while you can use a priority list to say "this stat will improve your performance by X% and this one by X%", every build is compromised in some way. There will always be better builds for some situations against others.

Just to give one example: let's say you are a Retribution Paladin, and your 10-man raid composition somehow managed to not have any class that can apply ability_warrior_sunder.jpgWeakened Armor. Normally, you will stack Haste in T15 gear. But if you don't get the extra 12% armor penetration from that debuff, it's going to impact the damage from your white hits and you might stack Strength or Mastery instead to compensate by boosting your Holy Power attacks.

      Guild Info:
[Emerald Dream][A] <Scrub Squad> is a casual raiding guild, currently at 7/7H 3/3N 2/3H. We need a few more solid people to start Mythic!

      Raid Times:
Our raid nights are Tuesday/Thursday from 8-12pm eastern.

We're looking for people wanting to have fun while raiding and downing content. - No stress.
We are looking for ranged and melee DPS for Mythic Progression.
Also we run Mythic + all week and have several groups downing 11's and 12's. We hope to get up to 15 soon!
      Currently looking for:
      Tanks: No demand
Melee DPS: Low demand (Warrior, Havoc, Windwalker, or anyone exceptional)
Ranged DPS: High demand (Mage, Hunter, Shadow Priest, Warlock, anyone exceptional)
      Healers: No demand
We're at 19 members looking to get a few more to sit around 20-23. New members should be ilevel 860+ but that's not firm.

      About Our Current Members:
Most have extensive raiding backgrounds, and some come from previous hardcore raiding guilds. We're looking for a casual environment for less stressful and more fun raiding.

      What Want In Members:
Reliable - At least 80% attendance
      Friendly - fun loving!
Self-motivated - players who can look up boss fights and class information on their own. With limited raiding time we can't afford to spend it all explaining boss mechanics multiple times.
Chill - we're not looking for people who cause drama or place blame on people for failure.
Attitude - Don't be a jerk, not just to guildies, but to everyone.
Mature, Thick skinned - we can say some pretty offensive jokes.
Ideally skilled - but that's something that can be helped.
On the Emerald Dream server, or willing to transfer. For running Mythic raids, players have to be on our server.
Feel free to pop into our recruitment discord to talk to an officer or leave a message!

      Who we are
<Hollow> is a semi-hardcore guild created by a group of friends, experienced players, that raided HC together in WOTLK. We reunited and transfered to the same realm to create a guild, or more accurately, a home. We keep a very friendly environment in and out of raids, oftenly joining discord to chat even if we aren't doing anything. Guild activities include but are not limited to mythic dungeons, mythic + and raiding.
      Our goals
Our current progress is 7/7HC and 3/3N. Our goal is to form a better composed raid team and down ToV HC. During which we want to get everyone experienced and geared for mythics and next content. Mythic raiding is also in our plans once we get the right group for it.
      What we are looking for
We are currently planning to expand and size up our raid team to progress ToV HC and in the not too distant future, Mythic raiding. We are strongly prioritizing priests of any spec, and healers are highly considered in general.
RDPS: Most wanted all (Spriest); MDPS: Also welcome; HEAL: Need one or two (dont have monk, Dpriest); TANK: Main tank spots filled, still we could use one extra with DPS spec. Less geared people are also welcomed.
We also welcome social players as it can help our guild expand even further in other aspects of the game.
      Our raiding schedule
Our current raiding schedule is 3 raids a week for 3 hours:
Wednesday 8pm to 11pm server time - ToV Heroic Sunday 8pm to 11pm server time - EN Heroic Tuesday 8pm server time - ToV Normal & EN Normal The guild is using DKP system
NOTE: We have added a catch up system for new recruits. When you get past the trial phase and join the ranks as an official member of our guild, you also earn 200 dkp as bonus. If thats not enough we will consider more options. We wont leave anyone behind no matter how new while at the same time, drawing a line for our core, active raiders.
Thank you for taking your time reading through this post. If you have any further questions or if you are interested in joining us, feel free to contact us in game on Solidz, Hotbez or add us on BNET at Solidus#2642, bez#21193.

Hello, so I started playing DK at the launch of legion, and have enjoyed it so far. I was initially unholy but then changed to frost recently, and am enjoying both specs except for one thing, namely my performance. So there are three frost DK's in my raid and lately the other two are always towards the top of the meter while I'm towards the bottom. There is no large gear difference (I think they both have a couple ilvls on me, but I have the legendary belt), so I was wondering what I was doing wrong. Upon looking at logs I found they both casted significantly more spells than me on all fronts (FS, obliterate, etc.). I also noticed that I need to keep icy talons up more, but can someone tell me why I'm casting so many fewer spells than them (there is no large haste difference, the armory has us all at 30something% haste, even though one of them (Hungerghost) and I only have 20something, and I'm sure the same applies to the other DK), or if there is some other problem, then what is it and how can I fix it? Thanks.
