Torbjorn appreciation Thread

Recommended Posts

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, we can all be mature and reasonable people here and come to consensus on one important fact

Torbjorn is the most glorious dwarf playable overwatch character.

Look at that glorious beard. He is so dedicated to his craft he keeps a magnification monocle on at all times. How can we make him more awesome? How about a robot hand. YOU GOT IT CHIEF. He has such love for engineering he got a gear tattoo on his arm. Just glorious.

Also, his turrets are the pinnacle of both trolling and intelligent gameplay. Carefully hide a turret to snipe enemies rushing an objective, glorious. Escorting a payload? Slap a turrent on top and turn it into a slow moving jet car of death. Turret insufficient? Just slap it with your magic hammer a couple times and boom its better. He makes things better by slapping them with a hammer.

I realize the more people will play overwatch the more people will come to love and respect his magnificent specism. So, I made a single dedicated post for all love for him.

So come join me. Let us share in our love of this glorious little angry bearded man.

that was glorious XD and also what ends up happening to me sometimes. I'll build my turret just in time to get wrecked by someone. Its really fun though to die with your ultimate and when your respawn (if your turrent is still standing) to activate it and really mess up the enemy team. Managed to save a failing defend the payload mission that way. I need to find the play of the game for it.  You see me at the spawn point getting notifications of everyone dying XD

*Turret

Didn't realize there was no N. This bothers me. Always thought it was pronounced Tur-Ent. One of those glorious misnomers. Just like how when we talk about the big ship that hit and ice burg most people say TI- Tan-Tic, when it was Titanic.

In some ways yes in others no. Paired with a Reinhardt it can make a really devastating combo. In addition, for more aggressive teams it really helps draw enemy fire. They'll prioritize the TURRET over your teammates which can (possibly) give them a few moments of freedom to kill the enemy team.

Now that being said it does have weaknesses. Widowmaker and Zenyatta can wreck it, and any enemy stationed above can easily gun it down. However, depending on team comp I think it does have many niche benefits.

According to Watcher.gg, the hero with the highest win rate is Torbjorn and it's probably because people don't know how to deal with the turret properly :p

A psychologist could do a really interesting study on Overwatch and the relationship between time of day and player ability/skill. Playing in the evening, I can move payloads myself, just literally sitting behind the turret and repairing it. However, once i get to later at night, around 10-11 pm, I can barely build a turret let alone get a kill with it. The second the enemy team smells motor oil and dwarf beard I get bum rushed bad. So, my guess would be the younger crowds habituate the early hours while older are of course later, and the older are the more competitive bunch. However, i'm sure Overwatch youtube channel stars will arise, and many methods will pop up to deal with each character. So we'll see long term what happens to our dwarfy friends ranking over time.

tldr; once more people learn how to counter turrets effectively, I question Trobs long term ranking, especially in the competitive scene. I see Bastion/Reinhardt combos being used for payload attack, but dunno bout Trob.
