Enhancement Shaman 7.3

Recommended Posts

Generic comment being mass posted over the comments threads guys.

We are aware of the changes and our writers are working hard to update the guides to suit what has changed. Currently, there is a lot of work still to be done and it's unlikely that every guide will be up-to-date immediately. Expect a flood of updates over the coming days that will answer all of your questions about what is now best after X change, in time for the reset next week.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I'm having a very hard time figuring out trinkets. Simcraft & mr robot say contradictory things. Some questions:

1) does the brutal haymaker total damage show up in skada/recount, or only the initial burst and is the vulnerability counted under 'attack'?

2) Is horn of valor actually worth it? 30s/2min for the stat gives quite a poor average increase.

3) is the six-feathered fan really worth the farm?

4) when are raw stats better than a dmg proc?

1 - Damage meters are only showing the initial hit, on the other hand Logs are currently adding the damage contributed by additional hits while active.

2 - Horn of Valor syncs up with Feral Spirit, but generally speaking is quite average

3 - Six-Feathered Fan can't really be farmed as it's a world drop. It is however the best trinket choice assuming equal item level. Whether you can get your hands on one that titanforges that high however is another question.

4 - That's a really arbitrary line to draw, it depends on the items and the procs. There's no hard rule for something as fluid as trinkets.

I may be blind, but the hailstorm talent enhances frostbrand, but I cannot see the abitlity even mentioned in the abilities section of the guide for enhancers....

Am only a starter on Enhancer but saw many posts elsewhere that it's used in raids. So when am  I using it? Is it worth using if you do not use the hailstorm talent? The guide does not say....

Copy and pasted from the rotation guide:

Quote
  1. Maintain the Boulderfist Icon Boulderfist and Landslide Icon Landslide buffs.
  2. Maintain the Hailstorm Icon Hailstorm buff (if talented) with Frostbrand Icon Frostbrand.

Hope this helps!

Hi guys, are the changes they are doing to doomwinds and windfury a dps increase for us? I imagine the burst might be lower on those 6 seconds but in overall, is it better? Does it encourage even more Hailstorm over Ancestral Swiftness?

Hello everyone,

Little question about BiS list : Why some pieces of the BiS list have crit / mastery instead of mastery / haste which is, according to the stat weight / priority, better ? Do we need some crit at EN Mythics end gear level or it's because haste start to drastically decrease after a certain % ?

Sorry for my english :3

Thanks in advance !

Judging by the update to the guide yesterday, it looks like Furty has now updated the guide with any changes. I will double check with him and let you know.

Is it important to cast Doom Winds just as the main hand swing timer is about to complete? I.e. Since Windfury procs on main hand attacks, we want to activate Doom Winds just before a main hand auto attack..?

Thanks!

The most important time to cast Doomwinds is when you get the attack speed buff from Doombringer. That trumps everything

If you can time it that well, then yes. Most important thing is to try dump your Maelstrom so you don't cap out.

Guest Stat Weights

Are you able to post the actual stat weights calculated between each. Similar to what was done for the fire mage stats? I know the ratio was given, but I'd like to see the relation between all if someone has 'em!

Thanks!

I may be wrong but... log says last update is in august, by the launch of Legion, but I would swear I saw as second priority haste until 17%, and now it says 1 int, 2 mastery, 3 haste... Is there any mistake or am I the one missing something? :O

Hey there!

I can ask to see if general weights can be put up, but they are only as accurate as a "general" weight can be (weights can't apply to an 810 and 870 Shaman in the same way). Your best bet for getting correct weights would be to simulate your own character using SimCraft.

There have indeed been updates since then. Your best bet for finding the most up-to-date listing of changes is via this link:

It shows every change made to the guides of the sites for WoW.

Hi guys,

First, thanks a lot for the guide. Really appreciate it.

Second, I've got 2 questions about rotation:

  1. What do you do if you're about to cap maelstrom and Boulderfist/Landslide buff is about to expire. Do you just go ahead and hit Boulderfist?
  2. I still kind of confused with Doom Winds. It says that it triggers Windfury for all auto-attacks and increases damage for Windfury procs. Does that mean that I should just auto-attack when Doom Winds is active, and nothing else?

Thanks

  1. Lava Lash to burn a small amount of Maelstrom, then refresh.
  2. Your auto attacks continue regardless of what you are doing, as long as you are in-range of the boss and not casting/channeling a spell.

 Hope this helps!

I took Boulderfist out and switched Hot Hand in to test. I know that boulderfist is loved by many but I find myself always waiting  for its cooldown (even if it is only for a small amount of time). I also found myself pretty much never using Lava Lash because of its shit damage. The only time I would use it is if I had max maelstrom, but that usually isn't the case if I'm doing my rotation right. So, I switched out boulderfist for my WQ's for today and put hot hand in. Although I wasn't getting the 5% damage and crit increase, I was doing a lot more damage. Lava Lash was now an actual move that was good. The proc comes a lot because you should always have Flametounge active in fights (no excuse not to). The 100% damage increase on lash really helps and makes it just as/if not more damaging than Stormstrike.

I noticed so many guides have Boulderfist as the go to talent, but if you want to give hot hand a try, I really suggest it.

Just did some quick simming to take a look and see how the two perform. You're losing around 7% DPS by taking Hot Hand, so I'm not sure how you were using Boulderfist previously that was causing problems.

Hello!  Making my way back to the game after a 6 year hiatus and luckily I ran into this wonderful guide.  I am just getting underway and wanted to use the add-ons suggested.  Question - for elvUI, there seem to be several listed at curse.  Do you suggest all of them, or is there just one that should be downloaded.

Thanks!

Now's the perfect time to unlock your missing Plunderstorm rewards with doubled Renown gains until April 30th!
      (Source)
Hoist the sails and batten the hatches; a Plundersurge begins this week with weekly maintenance!
The Plunderstorm event is ending on April 30, but until then, pirating players can double the amount of Renown earned from all sources of Plunder by taking the Plundersurge.
      Set Sail for the Plunderstorm
Plunge into a challenging battle that earns excellent rewards for World of Warcraft® Modern and Classic progression realms. All you have to do is survive…and plunder. Can't seem to stay in the realm of the living? No problem. Plunderers still gain progression that helps unlock new rewards.
Each match is 10-15 minutes long and has 60 players per match, with the winner being the last one standing. Level up and acquire new abilities and spells by killing creatures and enemies, looting chests, and avoiding the encroaching storm.
      A Pirate's Life for You
The Arathi Highlands is the backdrop for this pirating adventure, and you'll have plenty of challenges to keep you busy.
      Prepare to Plunder
Plunderstorm is perfect for pick-up and play! No expansion purchase is required, but a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time is needed to participate in a high-stakes, play-by-the-seat-your-pants match. This means that Classic players can also participate in a plethora of plundering fun by simply installing the modern (Live) World of Warcraft client:
Launch the Battle.net desktop app. Click the World of Warcraft icon at the top. If the icon is missing, click on All Games and select the game from the list. On top of the Install button is a drop-down menu. Confirm that you wish to install World of Warcraft. Click Install. Once you’re in modern WoW:
Select Plunderstorm2 from the World of Warcraft game menu to get into the action. Create a new, ready-to-play character—player characters are unique to this event. You don't need previous knowledge of races and classes to chart your course for mayhem. Choose between Solo or—to play with your Battle.net friends—make a group from the Plunderstorm character screen and select Duo. If queued for a Duo without a partner, you'll be automatically matched with one. You can also access chat, customize characters, and see the queue from the Character Select Screen. Action Bar and Abilities, Worthy Mates
Discover lootable spells, abilities, and upgrades as you plunder treasure chests and defeat enemies. Upon picking up, spells and abilities are automatically added to your Action Bar, with two slots dedicated to offensive skills and two for utilities such as leaps, speed boosts, and crowd-control.
Some abilities are more action-based and require good positioning and player targeting. Have fun discovering and experimenting with different combinations to find what works for you.
Upgrades to Your Spells and Abilities
Your spells and abilities can be upgraded by discovering higher-quality versions from treasure chests or finding the same ability elsewhere and stacking it to Rank 3 (epic). There are also plenty of plundering opportunities—various treasure chests with different rarities that harbor all types of abilities are stashed around the map. Always stay on the lookout for better loot and upgrades.
      Spectating Spectre
Upon death, keep watching the match from the perspective of your teammates (if they're still alive) or other players, including their loadout.
      Rewards A-Plenty for Plundering Pirates
Players can earn cosmetics, pets, titles, and mounts as they progress through the reward track. These include the majestic Polly Roger parrot mount, Bubbles the crab pet, swashbuckling cosmetics, 750 Trader's Tender from "Keg Leg's Crew" for use on the Trading Post, and more. 3 A victory is not required to claim the spoils of a well-fought fight.
To view Renown and apply the Plunderstorm weapon and transmog customizations, change titles, or summon pets, swabbies can click on Da'kash Grimledger standing directly in front of the spawn point in the Plunderstorm lobby.
Customization unlocks are simultaneously unlocked for Dragonflight characters and can be found in your Collection. Each Renown level unlock is noted in colored text under the reward name, whether the reward is for Dragonflight, Plunderstorm, or Classic.
Perch on the shoulders of this parrot instead of him perching on yours! Proper pirate fashion is a must for plundering! There isn't a better first mate on the high seas than Pirate Pepe! Plunderstorm Content Update Notes
Learn more details about Plunderstorm in our update notes.
We look forward to seeing you drop from the skies to engage in pirate-themed mayhem. We'll see you in Azeroth and wherever the adventure takes you!
1 Requires World of Warcraft® Subscription or Game Time.
2Plunderstorm is accessed from the World of Warcraft® game menu but exists outside of player progression in World of Warcraft® and Wrath of the Lich King Classic™.
3Plunderstorm offers rewards for both World of Warcraft® and Wrath of the Lich King Classic™.

Check out our first look at MoP Remix coming in Patch 10.2.7!
When Patch 10.2.7 goes live, you will be greeted by the following screen, informing you about the MoP Remix event and its objectives. There will be a button that lets you create your Timerunner (character).

Similar to Plunderstorm, there will be an icon on the character screen for MoP Remix with the number of days remaining.

Timerunners will be marked with a special icon next to their name on the character selection screen.

When you first enter the game, you'll start with a short intro quest on the Timeless Shore. Your character will be affected with the Pandaria: Remix buff.

The quest intro features a few unique quests before you start replaying MoP from the very beginning. It introduces you to Bronze, the event's currency used to buy items and upgrade gear.
Throughout your journey you will come across some very unique gear just like this cloak (Cloak of Infinite Potential) that permanently increases in power (Timerunner's Advantage).

Your char will have access to two important Timerunning abilities.
Extract Gem - Extract a gem from one of your socketed items. Unraveling Sands - Summon Unraveling Sands that transforms your unwanted items into Bronze. Gems offer a lot of customization in MoP Remix and you want to extract them with Extract Gem, because placing a new gem on top of a socketed one will make you lose it.
If you come across unneeded gear, you can scrap it for Bronze with Unraveling Sands.

Things seem to be stabilizing a little, at least at the very top, as our DK-Rogue trio remains solid this week. There's plenty of movement below that though, so let's dive in.
Note: We are using Normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. The u.gg rankings at the bottom are raw DPS. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it's AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.
      Mythic
      Overall Damage 95th Percentile
It seems we have a stable chart at the top, as the DK-Rogue sandwich is exactly where we left them last week! We do see a big mover right after that, however, as Elemental jumps three spots up into 4th, pushing Retribution down one. Fury remains stable in 6th, followed by Frost Mage, which gains a spot at the expense of Outlaw, which is down three. The three A's are still sticking together, with Arms, Assassination and Arcane all moving one up, and the Rogue moving ahead of the Mage at the end of the top 10.

95th percentile Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Overall Damage All Percentiles
It's Survival's week this time around, as the Hunter bursts up nine spots into 7th, with the top 6 remaining the same. Elemental rises here as well in 9th, gaining three spots, as Havoc drops two at the end of the top 10. Marksmanship joins fellow Hunter Beast Mastery in the bottom 3, taking Feral's place.
All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Boss Only Damage All Percentiles
Unholy moves to the top of the pack in the direct damage charts, just barely taking Subtlety down. Survival makes an appearance here as well, moving six spots up into 6th, as Assassination and Shadow push Balance out of the top 10.
All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Heroic
      Overall Damage All Percentiles

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.

      U.GG Raw Mythic DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks. This chart is for Mythic only.
Arms is on the way up, gaining three spots in 6th and pushing Havoc down one, as the Fyr'alaths start compounding here as well. Fire moves three up in 9th, as Frost DK drops those same three spots just outside the top 10.
      Mythic chart by u.gg.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for more information you can check out our Dragonflight class guides, Amirdrassil boss guides, the raid DPS tier list, as well as more data from Warcraft Logs here.

As many expected, it seems everyone's favorite farm won't be making it to Remix: Mists of Pandaria, as spotted by TheYamagato.
This makes perfect sense, since it's a limited time event and the farm is a long reputation grind based on daily activities, and just wouldn't really fit with the shorter runtime. The farm itself is still there, but the NPCs that start the quests are not, replaced by the new Timerunning ones.       And so we're going to have to skip the farm when 10.2.7 comes along, but hey, it's still there on regular old retail if you really feel the need!
