7.0 Demonology Addons

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've been reading up on the new Demo spec and it's become pretty clear that with certain builds, but also in general, keeping track of both the number of, and time remaining on our summoned demons will be quite important. I was wondering if anyone has or will be working on an addon (or weakaura pack) that might keep track of all of our summons.

I'm sure numbers will still be tweaked and that there's still more simming to be done, but in some builds I've seen, there's the potential for multiple HoG cast imps, dreadstalkers, doomguard, GoService to track. Perhaps having a weakaura to track the time remaining on each demon summon might be useful for timing empowerments into thal'kiel casts among other things. I know blizz has this built into the default UI but something a little more obvious and customizable would be great.

As I mentioned this tracking could come in the form of multiple Weakaura icons or perhaps a slider bar (similar to one that tracks spell cooldowns). A similar thing could be used for tracking multiple Doom DoTs without having to look at unitframes, although this wouldn't be as hard to track.

Cheers

EDIT: Now that I think of it, we could probably create a weakaura to track the potential Thal'kiel's Comsumption damage based on the current number of demons up + empowerment, etc.

I think the top tier Warlocks already have this in development.  Zinnin, if not mistaken, made an addon called zPets which does a lot of things you mention.  Check it out.

Not made some really nice weakauras for all specs you can find here: https://notsthoughts.wordpress.com

Note: The demo auras require the zPets addon Zagam mentioned. You should also check out Doom Shards. It's an addon that tracks soul shards and can predict when you'll get your next shard from Doom, which is really nice if you're keeping Doom rolling with Pandemic or even just multidotting.

Does anyone here use TellMeWhen addon ? Trying to figure out how to make it track Wild Imps from HoG and Dreadstalkers from Call Dreadstalkers.

I asked this on the MMO-C forums myself without much luck.  I've been using the set up provided by Not and while nice, I'm so used to Icon+timer vs the bars he prefers.  Unfortunately I've gotten super lazy with WA, usually importing strings rather than making my own, and I haven't touched TMW since the beginning of the expansion when I set all of my DOTs in it.

IcyDemonsIndicator

that's what FurtyIRL used in his latest stream

descriptions drom the UI publisher:

Indicates active demons for demonology warlock

Supports dreadstalkers, wild imps and darkglare

Better indicator, better implosion & Thal'kiel's comsumption, better DPS

Options can be changed by modifying IcyDemonsIndicator.lua Line 12~23.
UI will be added later

Indeed, higher resolution is suggested to use this addon, or it just get too crowded :P

But I still love this addon, it showed all the informations I wanted

I prefer turning on this addon in self-practice or occasions I need good quality of Implosion

Not sure if I'm making this macro wrong or due to the changes it isn't/will not work. But I was trying to make a macro to summon both Grim: Felguard and Doomguard. And it seems to summon which every is typed in to be summoned first. Here is what it looks like.

#showtooltip: Grimoire: Felguard
/cast Grimoire: Felguard
/cast Blood Fury
/cast Summon Doomguard

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Summon Doomguard and Grimoire: Felguard are both on the GCD so that won't work.  I don't know about Blood Fury, but you may have better luck with a castsequence.

/castsequence reset=90 Grimoire: Felguard, Summon Doomguard

I personally don't bother and just have them on separate keybinds due to that.  Plus, if for some reason timing gets off, you could end up waiting longer than the CD, or for shards, since need a shard for each one.

all it basically is, is a dynamic group i added everything i could think of to it. Only the ones currently up will show and they will autopopulate. DoT bars are red, Pet uptime bars are green and buffs are purple. Like i said they are just simple bars but you can change them around if you dont like the format.

My corruption bar is set in reverse so it just stays full since i take Absolute corruption. If you dont take that talent just go to the display page for it and uncheck "Inverse".

One i could use help with if anyone knows is how to track DoTs on a Soul Effigy. There is an option for a specific target, but only works for friendly stuff or group members. The Effigy is technically a enemy npc so i can only track dots if im targeting it, or if i focus it and have separate bars for the focus target and i dont want to rely on that everytime. Im sure there is a custom string to do this but i dont know WA that in depth.

Thanks for sharing!

I track effigy's dot simply by screening the debuff icons of KuiNamePlate

When doing multi-target dot, It's quite necessary to choose Absolute Corruption, that make things easier and saved a lot of GCDs.

I took the liberty to customize this great addon : IcyDemonsIndicator

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9S...ew?usp=sharing

- added all demons with proper icons : 4pt18 procs satyr and felhound, service, doomguard, imps from Dreadstalkers etc... If you want only certain demons, you can comment the lines of the ones you want to ignore a the beginning of the lua file.

- bar color : red if not empowered, green if empowered.

For me it's working well, even when using implosion ( that canceled all bars at the beginning, i had to make it for cancel imps bar only )

Im' not a lua expert, this will probably not be perfect.
Hope this will help and the original author will not be mad at me ^^
;)

Thanks Morranor.  Seems to work great!  Please send a copy of your code to the original developer so that he/she can incorporate it into future releases.

Happy to see it working with others. I did share my code on the addon page. I've tried a WA too and almost succes but can't clone event with custom trigger for the moment ( = iv got only one bar overwritting each time ).

The WA shared by Pixelovsky doesn't seem to work for me because of translation and even after i translate, is very laggy and doesn"t update after use of implosion. No Timers working neither. Is it working for you Pixelovsky ?

As IcyDemonsIndicator seems to work pretty well with no lagg, i will probably drop WA version.

Ok guys/girls, I use Tellmewhen religiously, love its flex abilities and customization.
Answer is, they take lowest 'totem' slot open when they are summoned, so best I get is 4 totems up at any times (3x imps 1x dread) but thats with lots of procs.

Screen shot included to show you how I setup them, but honestly you can track them and set it up how you like. Basically setup Icons as totems and have bar/icon track a single totem, repeat for all 5 (encase or 3 or 4 w/e you feel works).

Currently working on showing which have buffs (empowerment) but havent cracked that one yet.

Mm, I'll try latter to work something based on what you gave. Have you tried to set conditions to track and make the icons shake/blink/whatever if demonic empowerment is up on a specific class of demons?

I guess you can't really track what demons have the buff for a simple reason : your imps have ALL the same GUID, meaning you can't ( i think ) distinguish them.

But you don't need to track the buff, since ALL summoned demon will be buffed, no matter what, if you cast empowered.

Rather than tracking the buff, try to track the empowered cast and make all already existing bar turn green, for ex. That's what i did for the modification of IcyDemonsIndicator addon. I don't know if it's doable with TMW. If you can't, just use IcyDemonsIndicator. You can set the size/position you want. You can see when hounds and satyrs proc to empowered them, and you can really see when your implosion is going to hit HARD, and when i say HARD, i mean it. For the record, building a fast and strong implosion = do not cast empowered, just HoG-SB etc ..
