Hello Tegu and everyone else, sorry to take up your time but i was just wondering if it is worth going into Deadliest coil now first instead of going Deadly Durability/Double Doom due to the buff on Death Coil. I am behind on AP and my next selection is either Deadly Durability or Deadliest Coil for the death coil damage.

Any advice is welcome.

I don't see anything wrong with your gear usually more mastery comes with more gear once you balance your haste i don't see second Potion of the Old War in that log also Festering Strike should be doing more damage than your pet, at least for me that's the case usually and the most obvious things are the trinkets get rid of Nature's Call instantly ( craft DMC if you can or keep farming for better trinkets  because they seem to be your weakest link in your gear )

I think Potion of the Old War is slightly ahead of the Strength potion for single target but for AoE & Mythic + you should run the 2500 stat one also  it's way cheaper so it's a good alternative to the PoToW.

You should probably go for the Deadliest Coil unless you play with Dark Arbiter, either way works to be honest.

Usually the people there or well the ones i know can be trusted and sounds believable to me, truth is that we aren't gonna be scaling that good with the PoToW imo but remains to be seen.

If you have Tak'theritrix, does Dark Arbiter become the go-to talent?  Or should you still take Soul Reaper unless you particularly need the burst?

From what I understand, Dark Arbiter hasn't been worth taking since Legion dropped, even once you get the legendary shoulders.  It was only worth it in pre-patch because of the legendary ring in WoD.

 

Now what I'm wondering is if it's really worth it to hold Dark Transformation on boss pulls until I use Apocalypse or if it's better to use it on pull with my pre-pull Army and Gargoyle on pull.  And now I'm wondering if Potion of Prolonged Power might be better for Unholy with all of our pets considered on pull since it's lasts an entire minute, and if it's even better still for us with legendary shoulders.  I'm not sure which stats all of our pets scale with or if it differs between pets, including our Skulker from All Will Serve talent.

Great guide, but i'm having some problems with stat weights. Through simcraft i got these:

Pawn: v1: "Valnor_Active": Strength=8.09, Ap=6.69, CritRating=7.33, HasteRating=5.51, MasteryRating=5.30, Versatility=6.10, Dps=7.54 )
 

Seems pretty weird that vers is so high. My current stats are 20% haste and crit, 54% mastery, 1% vers and 25.5k strength. Annyone know what might have gone wrong?

Nope, Soul Reaper is still they way to go they overnerfed the Shoulders to a point where they are mediocre.

You probably want option A either way.  Haste as low as 14.47% would be so slow it would drive you mad.  It does me.  Just feels like days for each rune to regen.

It is worth to delay sometimes your Dark Transformation so you can line it up with the Apocalypse of your Gargoyle but usually you should be delaying your Gargoyle  instead of Dark Transformation simply because you get 2 Gargyles per fight and first one is easy to pull off while the 2nd can be used when you have everything available. Regarding the potion there were apparently sims showing the str potion being a few thousand dps behind Potow but i can't confirm, i'm still using Potow.

Not sure, i am not simming myself so i can't say if you are doing something wrong but i prefer mastery over versatility especially if you have the legendary bracers.

I can't find which stats all of our pets (ghoul/abom, gargoyle, army, skulker, apocalypse ghouls if they/ differ from army, shambler) scale with.  I think this guide said skulker scales with Str, Crit and Vers.  Does that apply to our other pets/minions as well?  And from the shambler's tooltip it looks like just attack power.  Maybe Str/AP is a safe assumption on all of them at the least?

Depends of the pet, i think Gargoyle / Arbiter / Skulker scales with everything ( Skulker doesn't scale with Mastery ). Shambler should be everything if the explosion is shadow damage and your own pet & army with everything i think because of the Portal to the Underworld trait. Actually i doubt that your own pet scales with mastery ( speaking of gas cloud ).

Not really, don't think anyone has actual stat weights for either Unholy or Frost right now. Sorry!

I see more and more dks choose the frost spec...

I wonder how good is it nowdays (after the buff). 

Is it still Unholy > Frost in terms of single target dps?

Not sure to be honest, i personally switched to Frost because seems to be on par or better than Unholy even if Unholy has the legendary bracers. Without the Legendary bracers Unholy is quite a bit behind compared to Frost i think.

I'm sticking with Unholy no matter what happens. I just got the Legendary bracers. Currently wondering what stats should i increase.

I know mastery is going to be on top, but do we have a cap for mastery like haste does? and how much crit should i get? Currently farming for Chronoshard for one of our BiS and Memento

I also have the braces too and as the guide suggests I am definitely getting better results on single target using Unholy Frenzy (as long as you keep it active) and Infected Claws in order to help apply those FW's (due to no longer using castigator and having less crit). My iLvl is only 867 and am finding having 27% Crit (to still proc ursoc trink), 20% haste and 44% mastery (more if I can get it) seems to be the best balance with my current gear for single target damage sustainment. On short AOE pulls I'm not as effective but I'm purely aiming for single target. Also regarding trinkets, I refuse to use any that doesn't have strength as I'm finding losing 1200+ STR is too much of a dps loss (from what I've found hitting alot of dummies).

There's no doubt though, Frost is FOTM... from the gutter,  to the Frozen Throne (I remember reading somewhere).

Hi, seeing as Unholy Frenzy gains more value and could in fact be better than Castigator when the legendary bracers are acquired, how would the stat priority change? With Castigator we stacked crit to maximize it's effect, what would be more beneficial to let's say, an Unholy Frenzy and Infected Claws combo? I'd imagine that haste would increase both the benefit from the Unholy Frenzy attack speed buff as well as increase the abomination's attack speed and generate more wounds, so could that still add more value even after hitting the 19% cap? In terms of the other 3 stats I guess mastery would be the preferred choice because of the effect Bursting Sores has on Festering Wound damage in combination with the bracers?

I don't have the bracers so i can't say for sure but from what i've been seeing  top parses go for like 30 % crit, 18/19 % haste and then heavy mastery. You still need the crit for Castigator.

Once again i don't have the bracers and i'm not sure but like i wrote above Castigator still has the best results and regarding the stats i assume it's gonna be something like haste to some point and then mastery.

My understanding from the DK discord is that UF sims higher in ST situations with no movement, which never happens.  Having to leave melee range on your target tanks your dps and tanks it hard.  In actuality, you maintain much higher dps with Castigator because you're not severely punished for movement.  Once you have the bracers, you definitely go with Infected Claws whereas Shadow Infusion was the suggested talent prior to obtaining legendary bracers.

Well yeah like you said there's no such situation where you get to smack the boss and never move.

I would go Human or Worgen as both of them got bonus crit (Humans got all stats though) while worgens got only crit but resistence to shadow and nature dmg and a dashlike ability for speed

Hey Guys,

Silly question, if one happen to get the bracers AND the shoulders, should he go back Shadow infusion from Infected claws, to try to have both timers (dark transformation and Apocalypse) matching, or rather keep Infected Claws and enjoy the Dark Transformation's enhanced ghouls when they match ? (1apocalypse over two 2 then.)

Tried both but I must admit I'm a bit confused (and exhausted). The shoulders don't seem like that of an increase to me (having 30% bonus for a bit less than 10% of my damages isn't what I would call a godlike increase).

Im pretty sure that for AoE you wanna go with IC. Your pet during DT applies TONS of wounds, and when you burst them on DnD, you deal TONS of damage. I don't have bracers but i assume you still wanna go with Castigator build (moar crit), not only to burst more wounds, but to apply more with FS crits. I usually switch IC to SI when single target but i also run with All Will Serve since i dont have bracers. With them, i will never switch from Bursting Sores. SI should be better with shoulders but i still doubt that this increase going to be better than more wounds on the target. Tier 19 4-piece bonus set seems to be very useful. you can try to add wounds one by one with death coil if you have like 6-7 wounds and then burst them all with SS and wrists or Apoc :)

On the subject of Scourge of Worlds (SoW), it is said through the guide and comments section that to use SoW correctly you must have Festering "Wounds" applied before using Scourge Strike.

My question is (assuming you're using Castigator and SoW is applied on target) do you need to have the minimum of 3 wounds on the target before using Scourge strike? Or is one wound acceptable while SoW is applied?

Eagerly waiting reply, been wondering about this for a while. Thanks.

      Well that didn't take long! We found out someone had broken the 700,000 Plunder milestone yesterday evening, and we're already done with the full amount now! Soularpower_ managed to grind it out a couple of hours ago in duos, and grabbed the Plunderkind achievement, so huge congratulations! It's been a week and a day since the event was released, and despite there being plenty of Plunder drop buffs since then it's still great to see someone get it all done already. 


      Unsurprisingly, the first thing Soularpower_ after reaching that goal was... play more Plunderstorm! He's actually still at it if now you want to check the stream out.

      Here's our first post-patch look at the Mythic+ log rankings. While the patch didn't really touch any of the DPS or tank specs, there's still some movement there, especially in the raw DPS chart. Healers got some solid changes in the patch, and the definitely had an effect.
      Warcraft Logs Points
      The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
      The top percentiles are extremely stable, which makes sense since the patch didn't really bring any significant changes for DPS specs. We have to go down to number 7 to see the first bit of movement, as Destruction moves two up, leaving its fellow Warlock down in 9th, as Arms gets between them, gaining 3 spots. Havoc closes out the top 10 three down, and right behind it we find the newly buffed Elemental moving three up. While Augmentation is being properly calculated, we still find an Evoker in the bottom 3, as Devastation drops one down and takes Marksmanship's place.

      All Percentiles
      It took Shadow a little longer to get into the top in the generalist bracket, as we find it in 3rd now, pushing Outlaw down one. Balance also moves up, 2 spots into 6th, as it and Arms take advantage of Havoc's fall. The Demon Hunter finds itself 3 down in 9th, while Fury remains stable at the very end of the top 10.

      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
      U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
      While Outlaw remains at the top, pretty much everything's changing beneath it. Shadow and Retribution joined forces and moved two up together, breaking into the top 3. Fire is also on the rise, gaining 3 spots, and right behind it we find another big leaper, as Arms moves a whopping 5 spots up.

      There's actually some solid movement here, as we see Paladin take 2nd away from DK and Druid take Monk down, with Warrior remaining in last place and DH being far ahead of the pack.

      Healer (Points)
      Healers had some significant changes with the patch, but it hasn't stopped Monk from remaining at the top. Druid moves into 2nd, taking Discipline Priest down a peg, and it seems the Holy Priest patch reworks helped it out, as it gains a spot in 4th.

      In Dragonflight Season 4, Awakened/Fated raids will be on a weekly rotation.
      Upon accessing the Adventure Guide and navigating to the Raids section, you'll notice a green gem icon beside the raid that's Awakened for the current week.

      When a raid is Awakened, bosses are more powerful and loot drops are upgraded to a higher item level. The upcoming season revisits the Fated system introduced in Shadowlands Season 4.
