Major DPS Drop since Legion

Recommended Posts

My first post here, and I hate it being one of complaint but I don't know where else to turn for advice right now, and that's what I am looking for, advice, I'm not just whining ;).

I'm an experienced BM and MM hunter pre-legion. My dps was running on average 50K as per recount. I went with the talents suggested here and am using the stat rotation but my MM dps has dropped to like 25K,

I tried running on my BM and while I did experience a bit of a DPS drop, I think I can contribute most of it to my being slower and not "automatically" going to the proper next spell, which I was so used to doing that I could do it almost on autopilot without even thinking. I believe once I practice that will be fine.

However, such a drop really is killing me on MM and I always preferred to run MM when in raids so I don't have my pet get all dumb and cause trouble.

Do you have any ideas what I maybe doing wrong? Is there something I could have missed?

DPS numbers for everyone are much lower than what they were before the patch.  It does come as a bit of a shock, but Hunters are still a very strong DPS class.  The new rotations will take a bit of getting used to, so don't fret too much.

I'm pushing 60K+ with pvp gear on my hunter.

The only way I see you having a Dps lose is probably rotation issues; if you have 4pc you might want to try waiting a second after each focus usage to save on focus. If you don't have 4pc then it might be haste issue. currently MM hunters have focus management issues resulting in downtime so figuring out a rotation that give you the lease downtime but also high enough dmg is a must.

Currently I don't have 2/4pc and I go Barrage (opener), sidewinder, aim shot x2, marked shot, sidewinder, aim shot, with barrage on CD (can save for Aoe phase if it's a few seconds).

with 4pc i'd imagine it'll be something along the lines of, Barrage (opener and on CD), Marked shot (for rapid fire proc's), aimed shot x3 ( with some delay) sidewinder, repeat.

The trick would be the delay between aimed shot to get x3 with not running out of vulnerability de-buff and focus, but you should be able to easily pull 60K+ doing something like that.

I had a DPS drop just like everyone but shawnyzz.  I found that I do far more damage with BM than MM, which is the opposite of damage before 7.0.3.

Recount indicates this is pretty much an across the board drop in dps, across all classes.

I don't agree at all.  I've been playing MM hunter all through this X-Pac and I actually saw an increase in my DPS since Legion patch. My hunter is sitting in 732iL gear with maxes ring and pre patch I was doing around 75kDPS on average.  Since patch I'm now pulling around 80-90kDPS on average sometimes hitting up to 110k DPS and on large mobs in HFC I can hit 360k up to even 600k DPS.  Check your rotation and for sure check your start priority since that did change but even with the stat change I have my starts for pre patch and I'm hitting those DPS levels. I don't think it's an issue with the patch changes, you have something set up wrong or you're doing something wrong.

Well, here's the thing:  I went from having 2 bosses where I was sub-110k dps (HFA and IR, never got a good parse on IR b/c guild rarely did full clears, and lol HFA) before the pre-patch to having 3 bosses where I broke 100k at all (Xhul, Tyrant, and Archimonde), 4 if you count my one >100k parse on Zakuun as BM.  This is at 740+ ilvl.  Sure on trash packs MM's dps went up through the roof, we passively cleave everything down without sacrificing anything for ST damage, but overall, yes, numbers went down quite a lot.

If you want proof:
Before Pre-patch

Post Pre-patch (make sure you're not just viewing a single spec).

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.
      Raid Schedule
      Wednesday 20:30-23:00 Sunday 20:30-23:00
      Current Progression
      9/9HC 5/9M
What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.
      Contact Information:
      Discord; tomsen and lora1506
Think you'd be a good fit?
If you believe that you are a player that is looking to achieve the same goals as us then why not contact us and see if we can achieve our goals together!

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes.
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM to 8:30PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.
We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a *filtered*, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing. You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights.  Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://gow.gg/fun-is-for-casuals under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.

      <Tempest> of Khaz'goroth/Dath'remar is recruiting!
We are a laid back 21+ guild based in Australia for the most part. We understand that some don't have a large amount of time to commit to raiding due to real life commitments- jobs, kids, hassles etc 😛
Because of this we are dedicated to providing a stress free raiding environment 2 days per week in addition to an active social community.
Social apps are available for all classes and levels! If this sounds like the guild for you please contact us!
Previous tier progression was 1/7M and 3/3H
      Raiding info:
We raid from 8pm sharp server time Sundays and Wednesdays for 3 hours and predominantly use loot council for loot distribution.
      Recruitment openings:
1x Tank- any class - must also be comfortable dpsing
      DPS with healing offspecs
      -WW Monk
      -Shadow Priest
      -Ret Paladin
      -Enh or Ele Shaman
      -Feral or boomkin druid
We would also consider the following DPS classes without a healing OS
      DH
      warlock
      rogue
      DK
      druid
We will of course give consideration to those who fall outside our recruitment needs if you think you may be a good fit for Tempest.
If this sounds like you, or you would like some more info please pst or mail Aereth (Aereth#1439).
