wow New WoW Site is Live!

The new layout has just gone live for the World of Warcraft site! Check it out!

The easiest way to take a look at the layout is by going to this link, which will take you to the main homepage. It seems to have taken inspiration from the Overwatch layout, but this is by no means a bad thing. It looks fantastic and seems to really highlight some of the newer updates to the game, but is it too simple for a game like WoW? Have they sacrificed important information just to make the site look clean and futuristic?

can't say i'm a fan of it, everything is too big, its like a kids bedtime story book, one sentence and huge pictures. certainly its pretty but not sure its informative.

It really skips out on the whole fantasy look in my opinion. Great for Overwatch, dunno if it works here.

As a web designer I think the layout is great, it's a common layout these days, big boxes with the major content of the website in it.

And the design is modern too, these days flat design is the way to go, because we think the content of the website is important not the colors, design and logos, these things shouldn't distract you from the content that you're supposed to follow. Yes It's simple and the reason is, as someone mentioned above, that even a child can follow the content. Flat is the new Black :-P

I agree that this is a Game Website, and should have more graphics and wow related designs everywhere, but remember that most of the people surf the web from their phones and tablets these days, simple websites like this is very easy to use on a phone or a tablet and is fully responsive (means it looks great on any device), I'm not saying it's impossible to create a responsive layout with beautiful, creative and wow related template, but it's really hard, I mean really... every phone or device has it's own resolution and fixing all of these with the design, specially when you design something outside of a frame or a div, you need to even consider 5 pixels of difference.

Eh, I'm not too impressed by it.  I honestly think its too busy.  The background is constantly changing with clips from the expansion and it pulls your eye away from the information that you want.  The big tabs at the bottom seemed crowded to me as well.  Like you said, great for Overwatch, but WoW is a different type of game.

Agreed, I feel like the tablet comment is a huge factor here. It seems more and more sites are moving towards that "tablet/mobile friendly" look. Big, simple, easy on the eyes.

I honestly did not consider that.  But now that it's out there, perfectly in tune with 'common sense.' 

The old site was NOT mobile friendly.  IMO

I honestly think it seems like a trainee designed web. I'm not a designer, I'm a developer, so maybe I'm not someone to judge, but it feels A LOT to be done by a practising web designer. Don't know if another web dev/designer feels the same.
