Holy Priest help!

Recommended Posts

We've just managed to clear EN on Normal (we're a casual raiding guild) and whilst we downed every boss, I feel as though my healing is really low and I'm struggling with Mana management.

Logs: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-ajub5x3d6lvs3gaw/

Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/draenor/Zhorael/simple

My overhealing is really high which gets pointed out on most bosses and whilst I try and watch what I'm doing I just can't seem to reduce it. I think I manage to last at least 2/3's of a boss fight before I start struggling with Mana and my heals start slacking.

Another issue I find I'm having is the Artifact Path, I've read something which tells me one way and something else that tells me another. Is there a certain path I'm supposed to be taking?

Also, are my stat weights where they need to be?

We're planning on starting Heroic next week and i'd appreciate any input that anyone has :)

I'm no further along than you for progression so I'm no Mythic Pro Expert but there's a couple of things I noticed that seem similar to the issues I was having.

CoH is a badass spell, I love it too and I hate giving it up but....it was pointed out to me elsewhere on this forum that it's an expensive spell and that will really add up over the course of a fight.  It looks like you're doing way more Raid healing than Tank, using Prayer of Healing quite a bit.  If that's the case then Apotheosis really is the way to go, if you can Apoth 2-3 times over the course of a fight that'll add up to a ton more FREE Sanctify casts.

This one's a toss up since you seem to use FH way less than I do (I do a lot of Tank healing) but I intelligently stagger/swap and chase my FH casts around to maximize use of the lvl15 Talent Trail of Light.  It's especially good on fights with constant, regular, and predictable Tank swapping mechanics like Ursoc or the Nightmare Horror on Il'gynoth.  I'm actually finishing fights with more mana that way vs using Enlightenment, but again that's situational based off your role in the Raid.

Hard to say with you but I also feel like a LOT of Holy Priests aren't using Divine Hymn enough.  Look at how long your fights last, and if they're long enough you might be able to use Hymn 2, 3, hell maybe even 4 times in a fight depending on how early your initial use is.  If you're only using it once or twice and even then only as a **OH SHIT THE RAID"S ABOUT TO DIE** then I say you're not getting your money's worth out of it.  It's a hell of a play maker and it tops the raid off for way less mana than a shit ton of PoH casts.

Lastly, you seem concerned about your ouput and if I'm looking at your logs right then you and Klott are doing the lion's share of the work.  Maybe the other healers need to step it up a notch, I can sure tell the difference in my mana bar when the other healers are lacking.

I'm not gonna get into Artifacts besides the fact that the generally recommended path is to climb the right side, skip Renew the Faith to race to Blessing of T'uure and then go down the left side to get to Light of T'uure.  After having gotten to Blessing of T'uure I feel underwhelmed by it, a proc off of a proc is just.....meh.

Hopefully one of the guide experts chimes in but in the meantime I hope my personal perspective helps a bit.

Appreciate the feedback on this!

Managed to get Nythendra down on heroic and my overhealing and HPS seemed a lot better, going to see how I do overall on Thursday when we clear Normal again. I think my main issue is going to be Il'gynoth but I'll see how I get on.

Thanks again :)

way op for when u rolling dem flash heals on entire raid is amalgam. i think i regen at most like 400k in a figth mythic nythendra. proccs from trail of ligth secondary heal. prety nuts. but should be healing different targets all the time. but yes. drop coh. u do 1 buffed poh it does way more so its of no use really.  everyone do less healing in normal cause dmg is low. ppl say piety is bad i dont know i got the free flash heals talent. with amalgam again it means u gain mana and free heals ontop of it. seems to be enough with using apotheosis when its needed i do 2x poh with apotheosis and its off cd so, do got the ligth of the naaru. also "saves" mana by letting u cast sanctify/serenity earlier and increase healing ofc, i dont cast anything else when there is alot of raidwide dmg like poh/sanct/serenity cause it dont heal as much. i do use enlightenment if i know i will be doing alot of raid healing like xav or ursoc f.ex. but yeah, u save mana using hymn and use apoethesis to save mana on serenity and sanctify so i try to use as early as i can so i can use twice. got the cocon trinket from renferal seems prety dank compared to amalgam despite lower ilvl if u use it wrong u get fucked cuz u cant do anything for 10 sec lol and the regen is prety bad compared to amalgam wich dont require sleeping for 10 secs at a time. but using it atm anyway, guess it's better for when u use enlightenment and dont use too much flash heals. and also important to remeber mana depends on how much dps your raid have and how much dmg they take from things that are possible to avoid ++ but its kinda normal to feel little short on mana until ppl start getting better gear and all.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      To all who read,
I am a WoW player and have been since vanilla, I’ve played several variances of classes through the expansions and this round settled with shadow priest which I ran through the majority of Legion and BfA. I have never written a guide or forum post before but decided I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and see how other players in the same position feel as well.

I would like to ask people to respect everyone’s opinion as this forum topic will be a place for unusual class builds, talent choices, and stat priorities. Everyone plays the game for fun and should be able to build a toon that is effective utilizing a multi style approach. I do believe that the simulators are awesome for checking gear and choices when it comes to specific cases perhaps PvP. That being said though, I feel as though sims are not really a good indicator of a talent choice or gear piece’s level of effectiveness. I am by no means a tremendously good player, probably average to be honest, but ask any top tier player and they will tell you very rarely does a pull go “perfect” for their class. these simulations then are only showing if something goes perfect, so I thought why not build a class around what “actually” happens versus the “perfect pull”, so that is what I did.
I would love to hear what other players thoughts on the matter are and list what your individual stat priorities are and maybe discuss why!
      mine are as follows;
      1.) Mastery = Versatility
(both of these boost damage output but versatility is not limited by number of DoTs so it helps if you are struggling to keep skills on targets.)
2.) Haste (this increases the amount of ticks per cast, when paired with high Vers and mastery you deal large DoT damage which is great if you’re in a high movement fight.)
      3.) Critical
This for many reasons is great. First, shadowy app procs, and secondly just plain damage bumps. Lastly, and arguably most important though is the shadow word death damage boost. When we execute (comparing to warrior skill) it deals increased damage naturally to targets below 20% health I believe. When you pair this with high mastery Vers and a decent crit chance you can execute for incredibly high amounts of damage to help that end fight dps chart!
