How much haste is enough for Demon Blades ?

5 posts in this topic

Hi, Does anyone of you know how much haste is enough for demon blades to proc properly ? I'm actually at 20% (crit 40% mast 20%) I can switch to 50% crit but I will have 6% haste.

There is now a debate whether the proc chance of demon blades during GCD is actually a buff or a nerf, if anyone could bring opinion on that too it would be great.

thank you.

As far as I know haste should have nothing to do with Demon Blades proccing.  It can shorten GCD though which is nice.  Currently I have 42% crit and 18% haste.  With my trinket procs, it ends up being a *lot* of haste.  Is it optimal?  No.  Versatility would be good.  But hey, it's not like you go shop for your gear picking out stats, you get what you get.  Unless it's really close, I tend to go with ilvl on gear.  But, Demon Blades should work just fine with lower haste.  Personally I prefer at least 8 - 10% haste minimum, but I go with what I have at the time.

The change to Demon Blades and GCD is definitely a buff.   A lot more usable fury without as much overcapping.  I think it also makes that legendary ring even stronger, since before a lot of the extra fury just went to overcap the way it procced.

IIRC Demon Blades has a flat 75% proc rate, so Haste does affect Fury generation through it, as it also affects Fury generation via Demon's Bite (shortened GCD).

I'd love to have a solid general answer for you, but the question is complex enough that I can't break it down easily. We also generate more Fury from crits on Demon Blades and on Chaos Strike, which is part of why Crit is so good as a secondary stat for us. Like Zilthy, I prefer to have a minimum amount of Haste to reduce GCD / add consistency to Fury generation, but I don't have a hard number. In practice I make gear tradeoffs based on up-to-date stat weights from Simulationcraft. It's the most effective way to figure out what makes sense without having to go into a lot (A LOT) of math.

Thank you for the answers, I'm trying to figure out this with testing on actual raid bosses to see the difference, I have traded some haste for crit (with better ilvl gear), it does not seem to affect much my fury regeneration, with a dps gain ...

Hello,

Critical chance > Haste. So if you can have 50% crit instead of 40% crit, go for it! Don't pay as much attention to the haste. It is important but critical hitting is prio.

      Who we are
<Hollow> is a semi-hardcore guild created by a group of friends, experienced players, that raided HC together in WOTLK. We reunited and transfered to the same realm to create a guild, or more accurately, a home. We keep a very friendly environment in and out of raids, oftenly joining discord to chat even if we aren't doing anything. Guild activities include but are not limited to mythic dungeons, mythic + and raiding.
      Our goals
Our current progress is 4/7M and 3/3HC. Our current goal is to down mythic EN to gear up and also prepare for Nighthold!
      What we are looking for
Recruitment currently closed for Mythic raiding with the exception of 1 Shadow Priest.
People that want only heroics can join regardless of specs. Socials are still welcome!
      Our raiding schedule
Our current raiding schedule is 3 raids a week for 3 hours:

Wednesday 8pm to 11pm server time - NH Normal
Sunday 8pm to 11pm server time - EN Mythic
Tuesday 8pm to 11pm server time - EN Heroic / ToV Heroic
The guild is using DKP system
NOTE: We have added a catch up system for new recruits. When you get past the trial phase and join the ranks as a raider of our guild, you also earn 200 dkp as bonus and when you prove yourself that you are worthy of a core spot, you also get 300 dkp as bonus. We wont leave anyone behind no matter how new while at the same time, drawing a line for our core, active raiders that have been with us since the start.

So I was fortunate enough to get mantle of command last night, and ran some quick sims. Based on my sims, it would seem that crit has over taken haste in the stat priority when using mantle of command. So stat priority is as follows:
      agi > mast > crit > haste > vers

I haven't calculated weights, but the difference in simulations was significant. I'll leave the weight calculating to others. The idea is that with mantle of command and the changing function of dire beast, it is more advantageous to get more dire beasts from crit, than reducing the CD through haste. Maybe someone else can confirm this also.

      Hello there: )

Guyz i've got a question, i've been reading on icyveins forum , that in the new rotation/talents we need atleast 17% of haste just to have a proper DPS on it. It's that true?
