Fury Spec - Haste to Mastery changes

7 posts in this topic

Hello everyone,

First topic on Icy! (English is not my native language so sorry about the mistakes :D)

I am very curious about the massive stat revamp I can observe from 7.1 deployment. I gave a look at several top DPS fury and I saw they prefer now mastery over haste. Can someone explain to me what justify the changes?

Is that only due to the +8% dmg (on BT, RB, Rampage) we got with the patch?

In case if you're interested to "optimize" me (I read this morning a lot of your advices), please find armory and logs (6/7Hm last wednesday - I have looted 5 pieces of gear during the raid)!

Thank you very much!

Some examples:

You can navigate here, you see that most of the Fury warriors are revamping to Mastery.

I don't think that they're stacking mastery over haste, just that mastery is our best stat after haste & str, and a lot of the high-end gear has mastery on it. No one is socketing or enchanting for mastery either, most everyone is still doing the Saber's Eye of Strength and Quick Dawnlights, along with the typical haste/str enchants.

I'm at ilvl 856 with just under 32% mastery without even trying (26.15% haste).

If it's only that, my bad then :p

So it's not really necessary to reach 30% haste anymore ? (soft cap?)

Thank you for your time!

The goal for the haste 'soft cap' is ~24-26%, as that allows an extra GCD during Enrage. Haste continues to be extremely potent beyond that 24-26%, so I consider that the bare minimum goal.

I'm kinda agreeing with OP as well. Here is my armory : http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/ysondre/Blastwaar/advanced

I really focused on haste since everyone was claiming that it was the go to stat for fury. So here i am, sitting with over 12k haste. My mastery kinda went down and my crit is abyssimal. What I see from top raiders is that they are aiming for balanced stats now (ie 6kcrit 8khaste 8k mastery) and their dps is up the roof. Since I got Ceann-Ar charger my enrage uptime is about 75%. I'm wondering if dropping some haste for some mastery and some crit would be better than what I have now.

For the record I'm doing the same Dps on dummies (315k) as I was doing with way lower ilvl but much more mastery.

      Dear All,

      Hello guys,
I play Fury Warrior and I'm having a dilemma in trinket choice. So far I have been using heroic version of Ursoc's Rending Paw and ilvl 845 Nightmare Egg Shell. Today I got HC Warforged (ilvl 875) Ravaged Seed Pod from Nythendra. According to the icy-veins guide and simcraft, the ravaged seed pod is worse than nightmare egg shell, but there is a huge difference between ilvl. I think I do higher dps with egg shell, but should I sacrifice it for ilvl boost from 857 to 859? I would appreciate any advice.
EDIT: I know the best trinkets are Chaos Talisman and Faulty Countermeasure, but I haven't been lucky on drop yet.

Thanks in advance for your replies :-)

      Hey Guys,
I just swapped to fury and not entirely sure if I lose the Rampage damage if I hit another ability too soon. I know there's three hits to Rampage, but I'm not quite sure if I lose the last 2-3 hits if I spam Bloodthirst (or whatever) before Rampage has completed the animation.

      Any clarification would be awesome.

      Thank you,

Hey there, I'm usually bad at those kind of things so I've figured I'd ask my question here.

Today I got an ilvl upgrade but with the wrong stats, would be worth equipping it?

I'm Fury and my stats are:
      Crit 21%
      Haste 18%
      Mastery 35%
      Vers 5%

The item I got is greater by 15 ilevels and gives me 1,111 versatility but I'll lose 525 crit and 490 mastery. Now, crit and mastery are my 2nd and 3rd main stats respectively, and versatility the 4th but it seems to me that it would be a good trade overall, what do you guys think?

      Cheers

I come here seeking wisdom, as I am but a mere newb to Fury Warriors (as in, "I've been playing it for 2 days" new).

From the numbers in the tooltips alone, Whirlwind does more dmg than Furious Slash, especially if you have Wrecking Ball talented (then it does more dmg than Rampage). Considering how you use Furious Slash as a filler already, you might as well get a better one, right? I can't say how it compares to Avatar (its competitor in the talent tier) in dps but it looks promising.
