[7.1.0] Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor Warlock Tips and Tricks!

NOTE: Since this is basically "old" content the talent lists have NOT been updated for 7.1.5. DO NOT TRUST THE TALENT RECOMMENDATIONS since many talents and their power level have been changed for all three specs.

Much the same as in past tiers, please comment with more tips and tricks and they will be added!

 

Emerald Nightmare

Nythendra

Fight Type: Pure single target, some movement.

Difficulty: Mythic/Heroic/Normal/LFR - 3/10

Spec Recommendation: Demonology

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111123

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Use Demonic Circle to port to MC stack on mythic. Focus on single target DPS. Burning Rush can help you run from danger, but Demon Skin helps you survive everything. Set up gateway across room to avoid breath, on Heroic and lower difficulties place demonic circle on edge of room to place rots and jump over them during swarm phase.

Demo: Using Demonwrath on MCs is a great way to generate shard.

 

Il'gyonth, Heart of Corruption

Fight Type: Lots of cleave and single target burn on priority targets, some movement.

Difficulty: Mythic - 7/10; Heroic/Normal/LFR - 4/10

Spec Recommendation: Demo, Destro, or Aff for Heroic/Normal/LFR - Destro is strongest for Mythic.

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: On mythic placing demonic circle as you enter the eye allows you to exit more easily. Use Gateway to get to far add spawns, save CDs for Dominator Tentacles and Heart phase.

Destro T&T: Havoc targets that need to die that are NOT Ickers, Immolate EVERYTHING but only maintain Immolate on long life targets such as Nightmare Horror.

Aff T&T: DoT Everything. EVERYTHING. Even the Eye (procs are still generated even if the dot does 99% reduced damage).

Demo T&T: Using talent 3211132 on Mythic because implosion is almost never needed, and is also better for burn phase. DoT everything.

 

Elerethe Renferal

Fight Type: Some movement, 90% single target with add phase burn.

Difficulty: 4.5/10

Spec Recommendation: Any on all levels.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Use Gateway to get across the second part of the Bridge between platform 1 and 2. Mythic using burning rush might be needed for getting away from webs on first platform, and getting winds out on second. Demonic Circle can be used to get you close to gate for crossing bridge to minimize down time on boss.

Demo: Shard cap, reapply doom and put pet on passive before crossing bridge (Pet will sometimes despawn if you don't), Life time as you cross. Demonwrath adds if they live long enough for massive shard generation.

 

Ursoc

Fight Type: Pure single target, lots of movement.

Difficulty: 5.5/10

Spec Recommendation: Demonology.

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111123

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Demonic Circle right after barreling impact to cancel out knock back. Dark Pact is super strong as long as you have a demon out, especially for Mythic Progression during late charges. Survive. 

 

Dragons of Nightmare

Fight Type: Massive amounts of cleave, some priority target burning, low movement.

Difficulty: Mythic - 6.5/10; LFR/Normal/Heroic - 4/10

Spec Recommendation: Destruction or Affliction.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Gateway on mythic for the portal team. Place demonic circle in safe, in range, location when rooted.

Demo: Lethon spirits can be stunned by Fel Guard and Demonwrath on them will produce massive shards if stacked on boss, saving HoG for them is a good idea for doom shard generation.

Affliction: Place yourself as close as possible to the mid-spot between the Dragons, stepped a few inches closer to your "main-target" and you can place your DoTs on both of them but only get the Debuff from one. Including Effigy you got normally 3 Targets with your Main Dots running.

 

Cenarius

Fight Type: Some add cleave, lots of priority targets, some movement.

Difficulty: Mythic - 7.5/10; LFR/Normal/Heroic - 4/10

Spec Recommendation: Mythic - Destruction; LFR/Normal/Heroic - Any spec.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Gateway to stack points, personal portal to stack point, BURNING RUSH DOES NOT WORK ON BRAMBLES, be careful with cleave as Destro+Thorns can one shot you once you have enough gear and/or don't have Demon Skin. Gateway for tanks and melee DPS can be extremely helpful for target swapping.

Demo: Demon pets damage doesn't do thorn damage to you.

 

Xavius

Fight Type: Almost all priority targets, light cleave, light movement.

Difficulty: Mythic - 3.5/10; LFR/Normal/Heroic - 3/10

Spec Recommendation: Mythic - Destruction; LFR/Normal/Heroic - Any spec.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Gateway to Blades stack points, personal portal to Blades stack point, DoT/Havoc everything.

Demo: First dream is must, soaking pools is nearly impossible for you due to lack of movement.

 

Trial of Valor

Odyn

Fight Type: Almost all priority targets, light cleave, light movement.

Difficulty: Mythic - ??/10; Heroic - 6/10; LFR/Normal - 4/10

Spec Recommendation: Mythic - ??; LFR/Normal/Heroic - Destro.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111131

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Gateway to Spear of Light stack point, personal portal to Spear of Light stack point, Burning Rush is great for P3 but drastically reduces overall survivability - comes down to player pick.

 

Guarm

Fight Type: Total tank 'n spank, zero cleave, very light movement.

Difficulty: Mechanically Guarm is very easy, however this is a pure gear check and the DPS requirement is VERY high. Difficulty rating based purely on DPS requirement: 

Mythic - ??/10; Heroic - 7.5/10; LFR/Normal - 5/10

Spec Recommendation: Mythic - ??; LFR/Normal/Heroic - Demonology.

Demo Talent Recommendations: 3211132

Destro Talent Recommendations: 1111123

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2211111

Tips & Tricks: Personal Portal and Gateway to the other side of the stack incase your/others color spawns far away. Survive. If you're color blind, check Blizzard settings to change the colors - go to Interface > Accessibility to find the settings.

 

Helya

Fight Type: LOTS of movement. Some cleave...some priority targets...some AoE...some total ST.

Difficulty: Mythic - ??/10; Heroic - 8/10; LFR/Normal - 6/10

Spec Recommendation: Mythic - ??; LFR/Normal/Heroic - Destro.

Aff Talent Recommendations: 2212112

Tips & Tricks: Gateways and personal portals where needed - totally depends on strat, cleave/dot everything, good luck.

Other General and Demo tips:

Nythendra

OP did a great job these are just some more tips and tricks I have found useful.

Dragons of Nightmare
