Fire mage on heavy movement fights

Hey was just wondering if anyone can say how best to handle heavy movement fights/phases of fights. Something like Durumu maze or Tortos heroic where i seem to move a lot, logs from last week normal kill (Durumu) and Tortos heroic. Going after Durumu heroic this week so help appreciated.

I seem to do decent damage when i can stand still and cycle my rotation but the minute i get into heavy movement dps just drops lower than i think it should. Generally try and go through a normal rotation with scorch instead of fireball while moving but just seems lower than i expect.

Current gear is ilvl541 armory http://us.battle.net...shaana/advanced

(I know im missing an enchant right now Posted Image, only got the staff last night off a coin last night, and a friend is making the enchant for me just havent got it from the mail yet:))

I am sorry for not responding for a long time, I am working pretty hard at my worklace at the moment, nut now I have had a little bit of time to have a look at your logs.

Durumu

Firstly, I would strongly suggest going for Living bomb for Durumu. It performs much better on single target fights, also you should aim for 100% uptime. There is nothing that could interrupt your casting opportunities enough to have only 80% uptime of NT.

You seem to be using combustion at the wrong moments. I mean that, you had 13k lower combustion ticks than I had with lower gear level.

You have had less than 80% uptime of Invoker's energy, which is unarguably pretty low. You should have at least like 95-97% uptime, and on Durumu you should evocate at start of every Disintegration phase.

For some reason, I cannot see Molten Armor in your log as well.

Other than these I cannot see any problems. Seems like to be an RNG. Some basic suggestions. I think when you are not moving you are doing fine but you might be constantly moving in disintegration beam phase, instead of move a bit.. Cast 1-2 Fireballs, move again with scorch, cast FB, etc.

Unfortunately I cannot tell anything about Tortos fight, because I have no HC logs on Tortos, yet. But, Vykina made a pretty good video guide that I use as well and I can rock the meters. You should have a look at it. :)

I know my bomb times are not good enough, redone my UI to help with that. Also invokers. I must of changed talent or glyph just before the pull and Molten came off. Unfortunately that happens from time to time with me.

I am generally at outer edge of disintegration beam so have to constantly move. This came from struggling close to the boss on initial progression and just sort of used to being at the edge.

With regard to combustion timing i think i wait a little long sometimes especially when using alter time as i can often get off 6 Pyro fairly quickly and a few times should of started combustion before the last Pyro.

You can use weakauras to shout at you if you are missing Molten Armor. But the non-existance of Molten Armor can have high impact on your DPS, as it happened on Durumu.

You'd better be in the closer circle :P

As far as i remember i had red beam and was focussed on moving it/ killing add so buffs might of dropped.

So Invoker's was at 91.6% which is at least an improvement. Went with Living bomb and the uptime seems lower than it should of been.

I die if i go close to the boss dont ask me why just how it happensPosted Image .

Any advice on how to improve combustion as the numbers just seem low. Currently using combustion helper but any other addon to help?

What kills you when you go close to the boss? Beam or sores? (That's all I can really help with, I raid on a lock).

For that first combustion make sure to use Mirror Images and pre-pot. Some Mages use Mage Armor for the initial combustion (Though I would not recommend it till you are in at least all Heroic gear).

Combustion Generator

1. Get a heating up proc (this can be from your opening hard cast pyro or from fireball)

2. Cast fireball and queue Inferno blast - The inferno blast will hit first granting you a Pyro! proc.

3. Cast fireball until you have both a Pyro! proc and a Heating Up proc.

4. Check the status of your procs. (trinkets, etc...) If good move to step 5. If you don't have the procs you want up then simply cast fireball and queue Pyroblast. Then reset up to a Pyro! + Heating Up proc.

5. Cast fireball and use your Alter Time macro right at the end of the cast. - Look for it here.

6. Cast Pyroblast till you use up all the Pyro! procs and your POM pyro.

7. Use Alter Time macro again.

8. Cast Pyroblast till you use up all the Pyro! procs again and your POM pyro.

9. As your POM pyro is in the air use combustion (typically) - see below.

If you don't have high crit levels you may want to cast combustion at any point in time during that sequence when your ignite is stacked high. (you will simply have to experiment with the right value for you). Also keep in mind when setting up a big combustion like this it is sometimes correct to refresh your bomb early so as not to mess up this "Combustion Generator" combo. Also if your bomb falls off in the middle of this combo, do not refresh it till after combustion.

Eye sores, just seem to run a little to far, can normally survive it. But take a lot of damage.

Im normally fairly good at the opening combustion as i follow the above plus using Synapse Springs when starting the rotation. Can normally get a decent combustion then. The problem one is the inbetween as you have every second combustion without Alter time and always seem very low on the dot. Logs from last night (logs for heroic twins there i didnt link as i do the celestials for the group so numbers come out strange).

Just think i should be able to get the combustion averages higher. For my raid team i am doing decent dps with only an enhance shammy that i struggle to beat on dps. Just think i can do better. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for advice guys numbers on Tortos definately picked up this week, slight change in our strat also helpedsmile.png , with lust right at the start and inferno blasting the 1st combustion to the first 3 turtles that came outbiggrin.png think it is the single biggest damage spike i have ever hadsmile.png

Any advice for Heroic Megara which is current target, have got rid of combustion glyph but not sure if any other major changes need.
