PTR 7.1.5 Hotfix: Unholy Death Knights & Marksmanship Hunters

Recommended Posts

Following PTR Class Feedback discussions on the forums, Blizzard will be releasing an update for Unholy Death Knights and Marksmanship Hunters in a future hotfix.

Blizzard will be pushing two hotfixes for Unholy Death Knights and Marksmanship Hunters to Public Test Realms, where Patch 7.1.5 is currently tested before being deployed to live realms.

Unholy Death Knight

Blizzard LogoSigma

An upcoming PTR hotfix (unsure of timing) will increase the damage of Portal to the UnderworldPortal to the Underworld and proc rate of Armies of the DamnedArmies of the Damned.

One other set of changes is meant to help free up a little space in the rotation, or at least get back to the point where you're not frequently wasting resources due to not having enough time to spend them all. We're reducing a few effects that inject large amount of resources into the rotation (such as Pestilent PustulesPestilent Pustules) and increasing overall damage slightly. The net result is that people playing busy builds like CastigatorCastigator/Pestilent PustulesPestilent Pustules/Infected ClawsInfected Claws will likely still be using most or all of their global cooldowns on abilities, but will less often be in a state where they ignore or overcap Runic Power.

Marksmanship Hunter

An upcoming PTR hotfix will increase the proc rate of Marking TargetsMarking Targets significantly. Our expectation is that in stationary situations, it should be straightforward to have a VulnerableVulnerable ready when you need or want to spend Focus on Aimed ShotAimed Shot, and the primary factor in full or near-full Aimed ShotAimed Shot effectiveness is good Focus management. In addition, a Vulnerable window that's ineffective due to movement, freshly spawned targets, or similar issues will be much less punishing.

We are also testing a subtle change that should address one of the flow issues that's been discussed. If Marking Targets appears very shortly (a split-second) before an Arcane ShotArcane Shot or Multi-Shot cast, it will no longer be consumed by the cast. When you're using Arcane ShotArcane Shot to build focus on a target that's Marked, if Marking TargetsMarking Targets lights up, you will more reliably be able to react and cast Marked ShotMarked Shot, rather than overwriting the Mark with a new one.

ah yes, not ignoring death coil will fix all scaling issues and rng problems with spec,

also dk picture looks rather frosty :P

The hope is not yet completely lost because the increased proc rate can make a big difference. So far, it's very rare in the fight, but if they raise the chance drastically, it's a huge buff you should not underestimate.
The random problems are not solved, of course, but this makes it more interesting to play in my opinion.

The "new" Wound-Cap for Apocalypse is, I think, also a Buff, because you can already reach it with one Festering Strike and thus again all runes for a next strong burst available.

That's not Frost. That's mounds of salt, pouring out of from the DK :D

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale

We've looked at the Mythic+ Tier List for the first time in Patch 10.2.6!

The tier list of each spec is determined by its effectiveness and prevalence at the highest levels of Mythic+ play.
