Empowered Life Tap and health

Recommended Posts

During our last raid I noticed that I was higher than normal on the heal received list.  I thought that was odd.  Then, this afternoon I was working on my rotation on a dummy and kept running out of health.  The culprit was refreshing empowered health tap.  It uses 10% of our health each usage.  Is this causing problems for anyone (or their healers), or am I missing some mitigation that is supposed to offset this?

Destro was lucky in the past as the best talent RE meant that we didn't have to Life Tap (though technically Mana Tap was probably slightly ahead but that was awful to play, in my opinion, and very easy to mess up). Now it is back on par with the other two specs. I play all 3 so I am used to tapping 2+ times a minute anyhow so it's not really a new concept to me though I think 100% takes slightly more taps per minute.

Does it add extra healing, yes however I imagine a lot of that is covered by AoE heals and it would be silly to get direct ones for just a 10% of HP. I also tend to use Demon Skin so I take a lot less damage usually. If you really do not like it return to RE.

Oh sometimes you do have to be a little careful. On Dragons mythic for example I tend to get pretty low with the debuff so tapping right then is never a good choice if healers are already struggling.

Your raid healers shouldn't even notice this increased Life Tap usage.  A Resto Druid, for example, can toss one Rejuv on you and not think about it.  Or you'll be healed up by group heals.  It's not anything worth caring about.  Remember that using Life Tap also reduces the incoming damage you take by 9% for a pretty good amount of time, so it's not a pure detrimental thing.  Keep ELT up 100%.
