disc priest questions

Recommended Posts

so im a very new WoW player my only 90 is a disc priest. im almost fully geared in tyrannical (9 pieces with 2 malevolent)  and i still seem to go down way to fast if 2 dps jump me. i use heal bot which has power word shield renew binding heal PoM penance and flash heal on it. my bar main bar has psycic scream and psyfiend plus my trinket and my mana regens like hymn of hope and mind bender. but it seems that i still just drop.  am i missing something? all my guild mates and friends say they hate seeing disc priests and can almost never drop them

You are most certainly doing something wrong. For starters, your gear could be wrong, but that is most likely just a minor problem. Could you post your armory link so I can take a look at your character?

It is far more likely that you are not playing optimally; that is most likely your positioning and the use of skills - especially regarding timing. I can't really help you individually without being able to identify the problem zones, but you could start by watching videos of other disc priests, for example Hydra, who is a famous disc priest. But let me tell you in advance that the use of HealBot is probably more harmful than useful; the good, old setup of skills on keybinds and mouse for turning is still the most competitive one to use and clicking your spells certainly doesn't help here, you have to react quickly, especially in PvP.

Disc priests are incredibly tough to take down. Heres kind of what priests do to get away. 1) Use inner fire instead of inner will. 2)cast pw:shield 3)use spectral guise every chance you get 4) when you come out use a renew with a pw: shield again 5) fear 6) depends on the dps you go up against but the talent that roots may be better than the psyfiend (war's are almost immune to fears). You want the talent that grants speed increase when a target is affected by pw: shield so you can run around the map faster. Also you want the glyph that reduces the cd of pw:shield by 2 seconds. Also you have void shift i believe its called which switches health with lowest person. So if you are getting focused and going down, switch with partner then heal up. Lastly, i dunno what class the other ppl you are playing with are using but they should be helping to peel ppl off you. With stuns, disarms, roots, etc. you shouldnt be getting blown up all the time.

not sure how to post an armory link but my gear is almost full tyrannical (the mooncloth set) with the exception of one ring which is a ring of the shado-pan assault(ilvl 522) and my trinket which is the honor one it gives spirit and pvp power in addition to the use which gets rid of a cc. ill look into trying with out healbot but getting that really helped me it seems.

im playing with a mage who is fully geared if that makes a difference

You can post your armory link by going to the WoW community site (for Europe: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/) and searching for your character in the search box. Just send us the link that shows your character's stuff. I just want to check if we can do something on the stats side and maybe your talents and/or glyphs are not optimal. :)
