Siege of Orgrimmar Holy Priest Style

Recommended Posts

This thread is meant to collect useful pieces of information for Holy Priests attempting bosses in the Siege of Orgrimmar. We will add some contributions ourselves and hope that the rest will come from comments in this thread smile.png

Table of Contents

Immerseus

Tips:

Talents: (Angelic Feather);  From Darkness comes Light; Power Infusion; Cascade

Glyphs: (Binding Heal)

Chakra: Serenity for the entire fight. You will usually be to spread to use your big AoE heals anyway.

Tips: You can only heal the blobs with single target spells, binding heal doesn’t count for this. FDCL  will help with the burst you need and can get you another  blob “kill” if you get lucky. Use PI if you have a lot of blobs. During the boss phase, use cascade to heal as many people as possible. I find Angelic Feather great to move around and throw some heals where they are needed. Use Divine Hymn towards the end of fight, to get people up fast after a blob phase.

(From a 10m Holy/Disc Priest progression raider:

* First, i would like to say my build (pure spirit/haste) revolves around the 2/4 set bonus; as a result my perspective is different from most. I always use inv_glyph_majorpriest.jpg Glyph of Renew.

* Second, you should (exclusively) be using spell_priest_voidtendrils.jpg Void Tendrils(15), ability_priest_angelicfeather.jpg Angelic Feather (30), and spell_holy_testoffaith.jpg Desperate Prayer( 60).

* third, I rate Twist of Fate higher than most other players would.

* Lastly, I am open to criticism.)

Talents:

(Optimal):

*spell_holy_surgeoflight.jpg From Darkness, Comes Light (45)

*spell_shadow_mindtwisting.jpg Twist of Fate (75)

*ability_priest_halo.jpg Halo (90)

-- Using Halo at the right distance, and the right time will not only heal a huge amount of the Contaminated Puddle's health, but will also grant you the ToF buff AND slow them. In addition, you can easily heal 1-3 (HW:S + 0-2 FD,CL procs) almost instantly.

(Options):

*N/A

Glyphs:

(Optimal):

*inv_glyph_majorpriest.jpg Glyph of Fade/inv_glyph_majorpriest.jpg Glyph of Inner Sanctum

*inv_glyph_majorpriest.jpg Glyph of Binding Heal

-- Damage reduction and more reliable Contaminated Puddle healing

(Options):

*inv_glyph_majorpriest.jpg Glyph of Prayer of Mending

*spell_holy_summonlightwell.jpg Glyph of Lightwell

Chakra:

*priest_icon_chakra.jpg Serenity

-- Too spread out to Chakra: Sanctuary

Overview:

-- Fight is extremely simple. Don't stand on puddles. Keep high uptime with Renew on everyone around you (100% uptime on tanks). Max uptime on PoM (try not to overwrite the spell). CoH after every Sha BoltVoid Tendrils on Sha Puddle. Use strong heals on Contaminated Puddle (Make sure you're beside them before they reach full health). DPS when you have free time.

Tips:

* Use Holy Fire on the adds/boss when theyre sub 35% to increase healing.

* If glyphed, use Fade before adds recreate the boss, and/or before you get hit by Swirl to minimize damage.

* Don't be afraid to use Guardian Spirit on a DPS!

Both the healing and the mechanics should be easy with the appropriate gear. The only difficulty would be how you (the healer) move around, to increase your heal range; and how they (DPS/Tank) move around, to minimize your movement.

Note: your job is to keep the DPS and Tank alive. If one of them die because you were too lazy to move, it is your fault.

Good Luck!

Tips:

Talents: Cascade

Glyphs: (Prayer of Mending)

Chakra: Use Serenity for most of the fight, switch to sanctuary during Sun’s Dark Meditation.

Tips: A pretty easy fight as a healer. Make sure to keep your tanks up and heal the random incoming damage. Prepare to spend some mana during Desperate Measures (Flash Heal, Cascade etc.). Divine Hymn should be used during Dark Meditation (coordinate with your other healers).

Norushen

Tips:

Talents: Divine Insight, Cascade

Glyphs:  Circle of Healing, if you have enough regen to support it

Chakra: Sanctuary for most of the fight, Serenity when inside the golden orb

Tips: A very mana intensive fight. Make the best out of all your regen abilities. Use Hymn of Hope straight after you used mindbender/shadowfiend and try to channel it as long as possible. Get the most out of your Legendary Meta Gem, try to use cascade, PoM and glyphed CoH when it procs.

Sha of Pride

Tips:

Talents: Angelic Feather, Divine Star

Glyphs:

Chakra: Serenity until the boss gets to 30%, then Sanctuary. You can also use sanctuary to heal up Swelling Pride.

Tips: Since your raid will be mostly stacked for this fight, Divine Star is great. Place your feathers before the prison is cast, to make sure people can use them if you get imprisoned. When you have gift of the titans, dispelling is your main priority, but you should try to use the buff to get the raid fully topped up. Make sure you have all your cooldowns ready for the final phase and try to dispel everyone before going into it (since your pride will reset).

Galakras

Tips:

Talents: Twist of Fate, Divine Star

Glyphs:

Chakra: Serenity for adds-phase, but switch to sanctuary for bonecrushers. Sanctuary for the boss-phase.

Tips: Divine Star will give you a great uptime on Twist of Fate during the adds-phase. You can also proc ToF on the faction leaders and their soldiers, should they get low. Guardian spirit can be used to save a faction leader. Make sure to have all your cooldowns ready for the boss-phase. Take special care of your lightspring placement, if you intend to move the boss after it lands.

Iron Juggernaut

Tips:

Talents: Divine Insight, Cascade

Glyphs: Circle of Healing, if you have enough regen to support it

Chakra: Serenity for assault phase, sanctuary for siege phase.

Tips:  Be prepared to heal out of your current chakra. Make sure you make the best use of your Serendipity, it stacks easily since you will need quite some flash heals . Make sure you don’t get knocked back during divine hymn.

Kor'kron Dark Shaman

Tips:

Talents: From Darkness comes Light, Cascade

Glyphs: (Binding Heal)

Chakra: Serenity for pretty much the entire phase

Tips: As much as I love my holy spec, I would recommend to go Discipline for this. Holy just isn't very suited for this fight. If you do it as Holy, you will need to pay close attention to your mana and make the best of everything at your disposal. Don't let renew drop off the tanks, never let Serendipity and FDCL stacks go to waste. Use divine hymn when the raid gets low from the falling ash and you can afford to not move for a while.

General Nazgrim

Tips:

Talents: Cascade

Glyphs:

Chakra: Serenity most of the time, Sanctuary if you need to heal up the raid for the AoE

Tips: Not a very challenging fight as a healer. Make sure people are topped before he casts his AoE, pay special attention to people with the debuff. Don't forget to dispel people who get hit by the caster adds. Use fade when the adds come out, so you don't take unnecessary damage.

Malkorok

Tips:

Talents: Desperate Prayer, Power Infusion, Halo

Glyphs: Circle of Healing

Chakra: Sanctuary for the entire fight

Tips: Holy's moment of glorious healing.During miasma phase, spam prayer of healing to keep shields on everyone as high as possible. Prayer of Mending isn't worth casting, since the shields won't allow it to jump. Desperate prayer is by far the best talent here, since it allows you to shield yourself up very quickly, when taking a puddle. At the pull, use Halo and Power Infusion to get people shielded asap. Don't forget to use levitate when you get thrown in the air, it will drop off very soon due to the aoe damage, so try to use it just before you land. When Malkorok goes into blood rage, use power infusion and divine hymn to keep people alive and make sure to have lightspring up. Halo is not really useful during this phase unless you have to run out with the debuff. Try to save it to get people shielded quickly for when the miasma phase starts again.

Tips:
Talents: Divine Star (assuming raid stacks at least in P1), FDcL, Angelic Feather or B&S
Glyphs: Binding Heal; Deep Well; CoH
Chakra: Sanctuary
Tips:
P1: Think instas for later part of P1 i.e. PoM/CoH/DS (screech will come faster and faster and will interrupt/lock out your spells , so casted heals will fail). Use Divine Hymn early on when breaks between screech are longest, or together with paladin's Devotion Aura to prevent interruption. Proc'ing FHs and BHs will help to build up Serendipidy stacks which then let you cast fast PoHs. For 2nd P1, use Massdispel to get rid of Corrosive Blood (SPs can help here).
/Edit: 3 min Cds will be up every second P1
P2: Place feathers along kite path (we stack in middle and kite around edge 3 times, then take portal into long hallway). B&S shield right after someone gets Fixated.

Tips:

Talents: From Darkness Comes LIght, Cascade

Glyphs:

Chakra: Serenity, consider switching to Sanctuary if the raid gets low after an overload.

Tips: Healing is pretty straightforward. Don't lose track of your tanks (both of them!), they take by far the most damage in this fight. Renew is king, keep it up on everyone taking damage and use Cascade, FDCL-procs and Holy Word: Serenity to refresh it.

Tips:

Talents: From Darkness Comes Light, Power Infusion

Glyphs: Binding Heal; (Prayer Of Mending)

Chakra: Serenity

Tips: Renew is great again. Use Void Shift and Guardian Spirit for when the Korven the Prime uses his Stun on his tank. Try to use them for seperate casts! The only other things to watch out for is Iyyokuk the Lucid's Diminish (keep Renew rolling!) and possibly Hisek the Swarmkeeper's Aim, which can severly hurt if not enough people are in the line. Leap of Faith is useful to grab stunned/mesmerized players out of void zones.

Sharing some of my experiences of the first 6 bosses as Holy Priest.

Everything is written from a 10m normal perspective.

Spoils of Pandaria

Talents: Solace, Divine Star

Glyphs: Binding Heal, Prayer of Mending

Chakra: Serenity, try playing around with chastise to help dps

Tips: Not a very interesting fight as a healer. It feels a lot like dungeon healing. Use solace to help dps a bit. Healing shouldn't be an issue in this fight, since damage is very low, so you can always try to go Chakra: Chastise and smite away while throwing some renews and PoM's around.

Updated with Dark Shaman and General Nazgrim.

The shaman are a particularly bad fight for holy. I had lots of overhealing and lots of mana-issues. Discipline is probably going to be a better choice for most priests.

Nazgrim doesn't really deserve a spot in a healer thread; but I included him for completeness :)

Updated with Siegecrafter Blackfuse and Paragons. No Thokk, since my raid needs Inner Focus for that fight.

The fights are pretty similar as a Healer imho: they require you to execute mechanics correctly while maintaining solid healing. Luckily Holy Priests have no issues running around and throwing out heals at the same time. Renew, PoM, CoH, HW: Serenity are great to keep your raid alive and run out of fire/sawblades/amber/weird stuff.

Coming Next Week: Garrosh Hellscream!

I hope :)

I've been too busy to post the past few weeks, but now here it is: Garrosh Hellscream!

Also added 6 Heroic bosses, to make up for the wait.

Garrosh Hellscream:

Talents: Power Infusion, Cascade

Glyphs: your choice

Chakra: Serenity for phase 1, your tanks will take high damage, the rest of the raid won't. For phase 2 and 3 use sanctuary to heal Whirling Corruption. For intermissions, try to enter them in Serenity, for better healing on the move. Change to sanctuary when you reach Garrosh

Tips: This is a very long fight, make sure to conserve mana whenever healing needs are low. You will also be able to use your cooldowns a few times, don't be afraid to use them in phase 1.

For phase 1, make sure to keep your tanks up. Keep renew up and don't hesitate to flash heal and binding heal if needed. Use guardian spirit and void shift when you can't keep up with the damage. Cascade is great for Iron Star damage, but don't be afraid to use Divine Hymn for it.

Phase 2 and 3 are about making sure your raid is ready for whirling corruption. Quickly heal up raid members that come out of Mind Control and dispel their dots. Cast a few renews before the corruption comes out and use Cascade, PoM and CoH. Don't be afraid to use binding heal if someone looks like they are dying, it will boost your next PoH. Use Divine Hymn when assigned to.

The Garrosh part of the intermissions is pretty rough on your healing. Shout at raid members that don't pick up orbs and spam PoM, CoH, Cascade and Renew when you have to move. Swap to PoH when you don't.

Note on the Heroic Bosses: When doing heroics, tactics may be very different for different raid groups. What I write down is from a personal perspective, but when you are doing heroics, you probably know your class well enough to know when to follow my advice and when not to smile.png

Immerseus:

Talents: (Angelic Feather);  From Darkness comes Light; Cascade

Glyphs: (Binding Heal)

Chakra: Serenity for most of the fight, consider swapping to Sanctuary when the adds come out.

Tips: The basics of the fight are still the same. There will be relatively high damage on the raid when the adds come, which is complicated to heal due to having to move a lot. Use your instant casts wisely. Mass Dispel is obviously a winner for dealing with the dot your dps will get.

Fallen Protectors:

Talents: Cascade

Glyphs:

Chakra: Sanctuary for Rook and Sun's Desperate Measures, Serenity for the other parts. Swap chakra's responsibly, e.g. don't go into Serenity when Sun is at 35%

Tips: Lots of healing to do here. Use cacade to counter calamity, cast it before the calamity completes for maximum effect. Give everything you have during desperate measures, coordinate healing cd's appropriately. Especially Rook's desperate measures can be very deadly. Do your best to keep raid members topped up during that phase. As a Holy Priest, you are very well suited to deal with Sun's desperate measures even without Divine Hymn. Keep that in mind when distributing cooldowns. Be careful about mass dispelling Shadow Word: Bane, mana is in short supply here.

Norushen:

Talents: Divine Insight, Cascade

Glyphs:  Circle of Healing, if you have enough regen to support it

Chakra: Sanctuary for most of the fight, Serenity when inside the golden orb

Tips: Very similar to Normal mode, but a lot harder. Keep healing until you're out of mana, then Hymn of Hope, Mana Potion shadowfiend/mindbender and do it again. Healers are often picked to grab the corrupted orbs, keep that in mind when positioning yourself.

Sha of Pride

I did this fight as Discipline, but Holy seems a good choice if you have a reliable way to reduce the damage of every swelling pride.

Galakras

Talents: Twist of Fate, Divine Star

Glyphs:

Chakra: Serenity for adds-phase, but switch to sanctuary for bonecrushers. Sanctuary for the boss-phase.

Tips: No changes from Normal as a Healer. Damage will be slightly higher during the adds-phase, but still not problematic. Make sure you have as much mana as possible when the dragon comes down, then give everything you have.

Iron Juggernaut

Talents: Twist of Fate, Cascade

Glyphs: Prayer of Mending, if tank damage is a problem

Chakra: Serenity for assault phase, sanctuary for siege phase.

Tips:  Heal people up quickly when they take damage during the assault phase. Focus mainly on the tanks, since they will take the most damage. Siege Phase deals a lot of damage, make sure to have a fresh lightwell ready for it. If you cast lightwell at the pull, it won't be ready again untill the siege phase is over, so pre-place it! Your biggest goal during siege phase is to top up people for the Knockback, which is more than just annoying on Heroic.

Dark Shaman

Tips: Get some crit gems, go discipline. It trivializes mechanics like Iron Prison and Falling Ash.

If you are splitting the bosses, Holy is a decent choice for healing Haromm.

General Nazgrim

Talents: From Darkness Comes Light, Cascade

Glyphs: Binding Heal

Chakra: Serenity.

Tips: Again the same fight as normal, but with some higher numbers. Execute greatly increases tank damage, so be prepared for that. The bonecracker dot also deals a lot more damage, people with it will need constant healing. The best use of Divine Hymn is when either War Song happens, or your raid is taking a lot of damage from the adds.

Specific add tips:

- Shaman: Don't let them melee you, use Fade!

- Sniper: Likes to target healers, make sure you don't tank him too far from the raid. Binding Heal is awesome.

- Mage: Mass Dispel if their big cast lands.

- Assassin: Use Void tendrils to keep them away.

Fantastic guide! I look forward to reading bits of it as I have time!

One thing I wanted to note is that if your guild stays stacked throughout Norushen (25), Divine Star isn't too bad of an option either - it's my preference on the fight, though I'm the stack point so it helps wink.png

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      To all who read,
I am a WoW player and have been since vanilla, I’ve played several variances of classes through the expansions and this round settled with shadow priest which I ran through the majority of Legion and BfA. I have never written a guide or forum post before but decided I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions and see how other players in the same position feel as well.

I would like to ask people to respect everyone’s opinion as this forum topic will be a place for unusual class builds, talent choices, and stat priorities. Everyone plays the game for fun and should be able to build a toon that is effective utilizing a multi style approach. I do believe that the simulators are awesome for checking gear and choices when it comes to specific cases perhaps PvP. That being said though, I feel as though sims are not really a good indicator of a talent choice or gear piece’s level of effectiveness. I am by no means a tremendously good player, probably average to be honest, but ask any top tier player and they will tell you very rarely does a pull go “perfect” for their class. these simulations then are only showing if something goes perfect, so I thought why not build a class around what “actually” happens versus the “perfect pull”, so that is what I did.
I would love to hear what other players thoughts on the matter are and list what your individual stat priorities are and maybe discuss why!
      mine are as follows;
      1.) Mastery = Versatility
(both of these boost damage output but versatility is not limited by number of DoTs so it helps if you are struggling to keep skills on targets.)
2.) Haste (this increases the amount of ticks per cast, when paired with high Vers and mastery you deal large DoT damage which is great if you’re in a high movement fight.)
      3.) Critical
This for many reasons is great. First, shadowy app procs, and secondly just plain damage bumps. Lastly, and arguably most important though is the shadow word death damage boost. When we execute (comparing to warrior skill) it deals increased damage naturally to targets below 20% health I believe. When you pair this with high mastery Vers and a decent crit chance you can execute for incredibly high amounts of damage to help that end fight dps chart!
