mop Dread Wastes: Storyline, Screenshots, Quests, and More

3 posts in this topic

Spoiler disclaimer: this article contains many spoilers.

The Dread Wastes is a level 89-90 zone located on the southwestern part of Pandaria. It is bordered in the east by the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and the Valley of the Four Winds, and in the north by the Townlong Steppes.

The Dread Wastes are the home of the Mantid race and stand out from the rest of Pandaria by their blue-colored flora. The Mantid use Amber as the cornerstone of their technology. As such, many gigantic Amber trees are growing throughout the area.

Storyline

While investigating the disappearance of a Shado-Pan scout in the Terrace of Gurthan, in northwestern Dread Wastes, you stumble upon a non aggressive Mantid sect. It turns out that this sect, the Klaxxi, has not been corrupted by the Sha and is trying to prevent the early swarm that the Sha-corrupted Mantid Queen has ordered.

Long ago, the Klaxxi have made their greatest warriors, the Paragons, hibernate. They were to be awoken in times of need. In the Dread Wastes, you will help the Klaxxi in their fight against the corrupted Mantid and you will be tasked to awake many of their Paragons.

There are also two optional quest hubs at the Brewgarden in the north and Soggy's Gamble in the south.

These quests give you reputation with the Anglers faction.

More

The Dread Wastes house the Heart of Fear raid instance, where you will get to fight the corrupted Mantid Queen.

In addition, Klaxxi'vess will act as a daily quest hub for the Klaxxi faction, even though the daily quests have yet to be implemented on the beta.

Thanks for that Damien - I particualy like the look of this zone, sounds interesting... looks quite dark actually - but not quite as opressive as shadow moon valley!

Thanks! It isn't as oppressive as Shadowmoon Valley indeed. Thinking of it, the Klaxxi are actually quite funny :P
