Haste, sayyyy waaa??? (Resto Shaman)

Recommended Posts

Yeah, that's why it's so powerful - because your stuff is free and you get more free spells the more Haste you stack :D

That's not true any more since 5.4  Haste doesn't affect the RPPM proc any more.

This is incorrect. The change was specifically to nerf RPPM trinkets which proc'd Haste (thus leading to a feedback loop of procs -> MOAR PROCS). The healer LMG doesn't proc Haste, and so wasn't a problem. Proc rate still scales with Haste. In fact, the base procs per minute went up over the patch and Haste still affects the rate of procs. I re-checked the table that Damien posted in the Mods section.

If that was confusing to anyone;

The meta gem procs more often when you stack Haste, and that has always been true.

Awesome! Got my gem, and pretty soon will get my legendary cloak...this is going to be sweet. Already without the gem and with you guys' help in understanding and playing around with askmrrobot, my heals have increased a lot and healing is way better and I am finding, less effortful than before.  At 529 ilvl my heals compare to higher ilvl players...even though i know gear doesnt equal skill, it still feels pretty good ^_^

I am waiting to get my 540 flex / or normal helm to use my legendary meta gem...I kind of dont want to use it with a LFR helm.

I don't know.  I remember reading exactly  what you said, and understand that much, but the Theory crafter I follow on Monk healing had emphasized that it doesn't any more.  It could be that maybe separate classes? I'm unsure.  I have to go ask a few more questions.

Don't fret over haste too much. While it is a great stat, your play style will determine how much you want. That being said, you should go for your closest break point. I prefer mastery for my go to stat, because of the composition of my raid groups heals.

I heal along side two holy Paladins, a disc and holy Priest, and sometimes a resto Druid. No matter how much haste I have, I'll never compete with the others on fast placed heals. Mastery on the other hand, ensures if the group falls low, my heals are pumped up to an insane amount to compensate.

Try a few different builds and see how it feels for you.

@Stoove

http://iam.yellingontheinternet.com/2013/08/08/healing-theory-part-5-haste/

ncidentally, this post is written from a patch 5.4 perspective. Among various other things, haste will have no effect on the RPPM proc rate of the legendary meta (and legendary cloak), greatly simplifying the analysis.

I pretty much trust Hamlets opinion pretty significantly.

Good advice there, but I should point out that stat distributions differ between 10man and 25man raids (for precisely the reason you outlined!). I agree that in 25s one wants to focus more on Crit/Mastery and less on Haste. However, in 10man you can often find that Haste will take you a long way. Yes, breakpoints are awesome, but once you have the Legendary Meta there's no reason not to take Haste if you like it. Indeed, Haste is rather convincingly the highest raw throughput stat we can take. By the same token, we've had the debate over what value of Mastery one "should have" and come to a conclusive "it depends".

In the end this goes back to a debate that Shaman have been having for years (and which has played out several times on this forum) to which there is no 100% correct answer.

I pretty much trust Hamlets opinion pretty significantly.

Over what Blizzard told us directly? The information I'm looking at came directly to Damien in an email from Blizzard and was also posted on MMO Champion the same day. Directly from the table:

| Name | Old PPM | Old Modifier | New PPM | New Modifier |

| Courageous Primal Diamond | 1.40 | Haste | 1.61 | Haste |

So unless something changed (and I'm checking that) I'm pretty happy to say Haste does affect proc rate on the healer Legendary Meta.

Update: I found an alternative source, which was updated when the patch went live. The Icy Veins table is out of date and the LMG is not affected by Haste. The breakpoint at 30% is still valid, though.

I want to stress this part.  Sorry I kinda threw the topic off a little, but I just wanted to make sure that the information was accurate.

While the LMG doesn't get affected by haste, this haste breakpoint for shamans is still very useful for all their healing. Don't get me wrong in thinking I was bashing haste.

We had the opportunity to attend a group interview where developers answered some interesting questions about The War Within.
Production Director Michael Bybee and Senior Game Designer Sean McCann had a lot to say during the interview, thanks to many great questions from the many WoW community figures asking them!
      Delves:
Delves will be cross-faction. There will be Warband-bound rewards from Delves. Levels and Gear: 11 difficulty tiers total, with tier 9 and above not offering any new loot, mainly for bragging rights. Tiers 1 and 2 immediately selectable, 3 at max level, 4-11 when season 1 starts. There might be higher tiers as well, some possibly with just a boos room. Included in the Great Vault; gear for Tiers 8-9 equivalent to Mythic+5. Most delves will have static maps, with the dynamic part being enemy spawns, treasures and similar. The rotation of these dynamic changes are currently on a daily basis, but that may change as it's still being decided. Unlimited entries, but restrictions on the number of rare and epic keys. No downscaling in higher tier Delves, they can be outgeared. Companions: Brann progresses up to level 50, advancements shared with your Warbound. Brann is the companion for Season 1, with different companions planned for future seasons.
      Warbands:
No account-wide gold, but you will be able to deposit your gold to the Warband bank, where other members can take it out. Double click to log in Warband chars should be available, but not 100% sure yet. No plans to add more than 4 characters in Warband screen. Unclear if there will be additional poses and other options for the Warband screen, it's still being discussed. Events
More Holiday event updates, as there is now a "Live Team" that only focuses on the ongoing events in the game, including adding new ones like Azeroth Archives. Each zone will have its own world event, and the Hallowfall one is particularly special (no details shred though). Itemization:
Discussions about Legendaries are not ready to be disclosed. Aiming to broaden the sources for acquiring class sets in The War Within. Game Mechanics and Systems:
Archaeology: Not included at the launch of The War Within. Dragonriding: Leaderboards considered for future updates but not confirmed. Professions:
NPC work orders for professions, mostly for skilling up.
      Raids and Mythic+:
Heroic week is coming back! Mythic difficulty will unlock a week after the raid releases once again. Dungeon rotations from season to season will remain, as well as adding old ones in to the rotation. Plans underway to enhance the soloability of Battle for Azeroth raids; details to be announced. Mythic system has been reset: Mythic +10 is now the starting point. Discussions ongoing for more affix combinations; no new affixes announced yet. Raid testing coming later on in the Beta. Engine and Feature Updates:
Major updates include the Warbands system and improved ocean visuals at Isle of Dorn. Overhaul of the Group Manager to simplify group coordination. Follower Dungeons available from the start for leveling, allowing dungeons to be part of the zone story; potential expansion to include Follower Raids based on player feedback. Early Access and Launch:
Set to start at the end of the week with a Tuesday game launch. New raid opening delayed to prevent early access advantages, ensuring no unfair benefits from the most expensive pre-order options. Customizations:
No new glyphs for character customization at launch, with a commitment to add more customization options throughout the expansion. An idea for sharable links/codes for transmog setups was mentioned, and while they did not confirm it was being worked on, there was a seeming hint that it may be, even with the code showing where to get parts you're missing from the transmog set. Feedback and Development:
Evaluating player feedback on Brann’s performance in Delves and overall class balance in the Alpha.

This indomitable fighter now ensures that any who threaten the throne fall before its might.
      Rasha'nan

Deep within the bowels of the queen's palace, Eggtender Ovi'nax conducts abominable experiments with the black blood found in Azj-Kahet. This corpulent horror lumbers through the palace's cavernous depths, regurgitating inky sludge onto hatchlings to observe its gruesome effects.

While unleashing their considerable strength onto their enemies, each is also fighting to ensure their counterpart does not survive.

      Queen Ansurek
After a revelation of traitors in her court, Queen Ansurek decides she must eradicate the palace's invaders herself. However, paranoia over whom she can trust gnaws at her psyche.
