Having a bit of trouble with dps.

2 posts in this topic

My name is Monics from Medivh. I've been having trouble sustaining over 145k dps as an arms warrior. I have a 522 pvp sword as an option for another sword if I were to go fury. Would it be wise to switch to fury hoping for better chance at higher dps? I'm a casual player my ilvl is 540 and I'd really like some help. And if you do decide to reply with helpful hints and advice please keep it to a "DPS for dummies" standard as I don't know details about spells et cetera. Thanks and may the loot be forever in your favor!

There isn't much I can do to help with that little information, but I'll do my best.

Your gear looks fine, though you could reforge the hit on your boots to something else since you're really high above the hit cap.

If I were you, I would stay arms for now, because Fury can be really confusing to newcomers and takes a lot of time and practice to master. If you want to give it a try, go for it (a 522 weapon isn't horrible for your offhand especially if it has crit on it), though be aware that you may get worse results than arms until you practice Fury a lot.

As far as Arms goes, make sure that you hit Mortal Strike on cooldown. It is by far your most important ability, since it generates rage to cast your other stuff and Taste for Blood charges that allow you to cast overpower. If mortal strike is on CD, you want to use Colossus Smash if it's not already active on your target. Just watch out for its cooldown sometimes getting reset, be ready to use it asap when it happens.

If Colossus Smash is active on your target, you want to use Mortal Strike > Slam (if you have 40+ rage) > Overpower.

If Colossus Smash is not active, you want to use Mortal Strike > Colossus Smash > Slam (if you have 80+ rage) > Overpower.

If, in either situation, you get close to maxing out your rage, you want to hit Heroic Strike once to dump a bit of it.

This is a quick overview of what arms should look like on single target, though I've omitted quite a lot of details. I won't go in too many details for AoE either, but there is the official Icy-Veins Arms warrior guide that is very detailed, and Sajakain also has another small guide in the stickies in this forums.

I hope this helps you, and feel free to ask any other question you have,

      ABOUT US
We are a very social guild LFM for progression/semi-casual raiding and leveling.
When we say "semi-casual," we mean that we raid two days for three hours, can laugh about a wipe but are still serious about progression. We plan to do Normal raids (not for long) before going on to Heroic and Mythic.
New players and all levels welcomed. We are VERY new player and new role friendly and have a few new players in the raid group already. We will work with you and get you trained up. So don't worry!
We do have some PvPers and an experienced RBG leader so PvP isn't out of the question.
We're almost always on Discord and we joke around a lot. Some jokes aren't appropriate so keep that in mind. (Recommended 18+)
Currently we are using the EPGP system ( The addon EPGP (DKP Reloaded), DBM, and GTFO are required to be downloaded and kept up-to-date on raid nights.
Fridays & Sundays 8pm - 11pm PST. (10pm - 1am Server Time.) NOTE: Flasks, foods, potions, and enchants will be provided for raiders on a first-come first-serve basis. People who contribute to the guild bank will also have preference. Guild repairs provided on raid nights. Trials will be provided with the aforementioned items if we can spare them after the main raiders. CURRENT PROGRESSION

Hey guys, I've been playing Fire mage for the first time since Legion. I did my research on almost everything you need to know on Fire Mages. I've spent hours on the rotation and I believe that I've almost mastered it.
Now, the reason I am posting on the forum is because I need advise...
I can't seem to exceed as much as I am suppose to as a fire mage. If I compare myself to what I see on Warcraft logs, fire mages of my ITL, are almost always first or second DPS. And even my fire mage guildie that is slightly under gear does much more damage then me on every fight...
I believe that my gear is decent and so is my artifact tree... I do have decent trinkets ... So my conclusion is that I am missing something in my rotation, or that I am prioritizing something that I am not suppose to...
Could anyone help me out? I have my latest Warcraft logs, here is one of them
If you need any more , I could link the entire raid last week.
      Thank you!!
