Timeless Isle - Celestials Fight Question

18 posts in this topic

Let me start by saying that because of medical reasons, I can't raid anymore.  That basically restricts me as to the level gear I can get since that problem turned me into a solo player (for example, that kills the entire black prince quest line and certain places you can go to on the Timeless Isle).

I've geared 5 characters with the Timeless Isle gear, excluding a ring or trinket here and there (4 casters, 1 melee).

Yesterday, in general chat, a player said that you don't need to be in a group to fight the Celestials (he was replying to a question by another player about what the ilevel requirement was to get in a group).  You only have to make sure that if you joined the fight, it was with your faction.

Since my faction was about to start a fight, I joined them with my lock for the last 60-90 seconds, and was rewarded with a set of 553 ilevel legs.  The upgrade over the timeless gear was just amazing.

Questions:

Is it correct that you can (or should??) only join a fight if your faction is fighting a celestial?

Can you only get a piece of gear with your faction, or can you get also get gear if you're a different faction? (If you can fight as a different faction).

I noticed that when I opened my inventory after the fight, the legs were already "identified," so I didn't have to right click on them.  Of course, that means no account bound gear, and no way to pass things on to other characters.  Is this correct?

Thanks for any help you can give, and if this is in the wrong section, I apologize and please move it.

Yes, all you have to do is hit the Celestial after your faction has tapped it.  You can join a fight while the opposite faction has the tap but it will not reward you a chance at any gear.  The items that drop will be identified and they will not be account bound but soulbound.  Only pcs of gear that you can equip will drop for you.

Edit:  Congrats on the purple lootz

Thank you very much, appreciate the information.

I was amazed by the stats on the legs, and the huge increase it provided over the timeless gear.

I was not able to fight any of the elite level 90 animals/npcs with my casters because I died before I could kill them, even with the timeless gear (not high enough DPS output) (except for my lock, with the voidlord tanking).  Now with the increase in ilevel coming up, I'll be able to finish some more quests.

Make sure you are using the buffs available on the Timeless Isle too.  There are shrines, plants/fruit, and books/scrolls.  All offer their own type of stackable buff to help you kill things quicker.

Also if you dual-spec on any of your toons, the loot that has a random chance to drop from celestials once a week will be based on your current loot specialization. So, if you want gear for the spec other than the one you are playing you will have to right click on your portrait and choose that loot specialization.

Thanks for the inputs.

OK, more questions.  I just completed two fights against Celestials.  In one, I died at the end of the fight (was not near the Celestial).  In the other, I stayed around till the end of the fight.

In neither case did I get anything.  I was playing my spriest, alliance, and the faction was alliance.

Also, when I die at anytime during the fight, and since I'm not in the group and can't expect a rezz, what should I do?  I presume I should run back and rezz?

Update:  Just completed a third Celestial fight and again, nothing.

Thanks.

Yes, u should run back. The graveyard is close. You are only able to loot one celestial per week per toon. They all share the same loot table.

You have a random chance of getting loot (either 553 Tier Hand / Leg pieces for your loot spec or 550 PVP pieces) once per reset (Tuesday - Monday) from your first celestial kill on that toon. If you have Warforged Seals, you also have one additional chance to roll using it and see if you get loot from that (most times it will be just more gold). You can use the warforged seal on your first kill or any of the subsequent kills.

Hi,

I've discovered that my tailor can make ilevel 553 gear, however, it takes 3-4 weeks to gather the mats (1 mat per day).

So, I'll do that and take a toon to the isle once a week to augment the process.

Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Take all your toons at least once a week to kill the celestials :-)

Thanks, I wasn't quite clear about that after your previous answer, and Madraslover's last answer, so I'm glad you clarified that.

I'll be on my way lol.

Thanks again.

I would like to know if something has changed about the Celestial Fight reward, as we discussed previously.

For the past 3 weeks, I've run each of my 90s into the celestial fight, and as a reward got a little box with some gold in it.

I thought maybe I'd tried too early, but I ruled that out eventually.

Just to make sure, though, I got my latest level 90 to Timeless Isle as soon as I could and after gearing up later that day, I participated in a celestial fight and got the same box (this is outside of being a member of a raid group).

So, is it possible we no longer get an upgraded piece of gear?  I could see RNG getting me, but not with 6 level 90s for three weekends in a row, and a new 90 the same way.

Also, I'd heard that you no longer need to fight with your faction.  To test that, this afternoon I had my horde lock fight a celestial with the alliance being the group that pulled and engaged in the fight.  Result was the same little gift box.

Thank you for any help you can give.

I'd say you just got screwed over by rng. And yes, blizz hotfixed the celestials so that they behave just as any other rare spawn on the timeless isle, non faction specific.

its not really that bad. i have gotten one pair of pvp boots on my priest out of 3 toons a week for at least 4 weeks now. warforged seals go up in probability with each miss, but the celestial loot is purely random. im not sure ive ever gotten anything from oondasta.

if it makes you feel better, there is a wishing well in teh north/central jade forest and there is a lucky coin in it. just pick up the coin and keep it in your bags instead of selling. your luck may improve.

Thanks all.

Yeah, RNG must really hate me lol.

Anyway, I keep getting Valor Points for some of the dailies I've been doing in the Vale and the other areas, and every quartermaster sells stuff for Justice Points.  So, I've gone over to the Thunder Isle, and I'm starting those quests and then dailies.  The Shado-Pan Assault quartermaster (and another one in the Forlown - spelling?? area) sell 522 gear for Valor Points and low reputations - so I'll go that way.  At least it's a sure thing and no RNG involved.

Thanks again for the heads up, and take care.
