Feral Druid DPS Help

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've been having a lot of trouble boosting my dps in SoO. I'm the only feral druid in my raid and I'm expected to do high dps. I just reached 560 ilvl last night but was 558 for the raid. I'm averaging about 220K on single target with ilvl of 558 fights with buffs/flask. On Noxxic is says I should be doing 300K dps with my gear. I do not know what I am doing wrong.

My rotation is as follows:

Right before the pull I use Healing touch (I have the DoC Talent), I pop a prepot (Virmens Bite), hit cat form, prowl, savage roar, and then ravage. I use mangle as a combo builder, I keep savaged roar, and rake up at all times as well as rip. I also use Tiger's fury when its up. When rip and savage roar is up I use ferocious bite. When I can I put up thrash. When Berserk is up I use shred instead of mangle, the same when heroism is cast. I have affdot's addon so when my trinkets or weapon enchant procs I can refresh my dots with a more powerful one. I cast healing touch with predatory instincts is proc'ed and then use it only to refresh rip and rake.

I use weakaura's to track my predatory instincts proc, and badkitty to keep track of my bleeds.

 My armory link is: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/sargeras/Anoura/advanced

If anyone could help me I'd be most appreciative. Thank you.

I'll be honest and say I'm not a kitty expert, but without logs, there's not much we can do. In most cases, gems/reforges/gear make up a pretty low percentage of your dps, most of it comes from playstyle.

Your gear looks fine and your understanding of the rotation sounds fine. Checking how it is being applied in practice is why a log is useful for us. It will tell the whole truth; mistakes like low Savage Roar uptime, low Rake uptime, not using Tiger's Fury on cooldown or not using it together with DoC, or not using Berserk often enough will be easy to identify.

It will also tell us what buffs the rest of the raid brings. If you are the only one who can apply Weakened Armor, that becomes your job. (I do it anyway just in case, since there is lots of downtime in the rotation.)

One thing that will improve DPS quite easily is to upgrade your weapon with Valor. Weapon damage is huge for Feral.

Depending on the fight 220k is perfectly acceptable for your item level, ignore noxxic, its not that accurate to compare to considering its a bot sim and people arent perfect in timing every single thing they do.

The biggest hurt to kitty dps is crappy SR management. If you dont have 90%+ uptime, then start there after than its just managing the strongest bleeds you can.

You can also swap to FoN for better single target dmg, but it take a bit to manage the extra move/bleeds from them.

Something that many people forget to do and take for granted anymore is using a target dummy for practice.  If noxxic (which I personally dislike) or another sim (catus or simcraft) says that you should do x dps, you should try to get to x dps on a target dummy.  You should be able to perform a perfect rotation there as you do not have to deal with outside influences that will occur during a raid.

Also, I'd love to look into some logs to better analyze what you might be doing wrong in your rotation.

Heya, as the other people already said, we have to see some logs. Also I would like to mention that the amount of DPS generated differs from one boss to another, you will not be able to do the same DPS on bosses, for me to judge if you are doing fine or not, tell me which boss are you referring to when you said 220K DPS, was it on juggernaut for example? because if you are doing 220k DPS on juggernaut as 560ilvl feral then you are doing something wrong (somewhere in the fight).   Also is it 10man or 25man, DPS also differs in both raid-sizes.

I've got several ferals, one of them is 552 ilvl with no legendary cloak or meta, and I can do more like 250k to 280k on juggernaut, sometimes more depending on trinket procs.

p.s. do you have any other trinkets other than AoC?

Another last thing that I would like to mention is your gems. You are obviously using yellow gems  for pure secondaries to increase the proc of your rune trinket, there has been a discussion about this in other forums. That there is a switch point of where the feral should switch from fully red gemmed to full on secondary stats gemmed for bigger rune proc, and I tested this myself, and in my honest opinion with your gear, I would still go full agility gems (reds) and agility+secondary on yellow slots, being lower than 570ilvl. bring your secondaries a little down, but agility more up. but obviously stil reforge for Rune trinket where the equation of Mastery+1 = haste = crit

Dropping all your yellow gems for pure agility, and see how DPS changes.

The only time where you regem for full yellows for big secondaries is when you reach at least 570+ ilvl where the big proc will shine even more then. and if you can get a hold of heroic rune, it will be even better to go full yellow gemming at 570+
