Are Heroic Drops Always Better than Normal?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Fury Warrior

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/hellfire/Herecles/simple

Recently got 2 drops from Heroic SoO:

Battleplate of the Prehistoric Marauder

Bubble Burst Bracers

Thing is I already have Warforged Breastplate of Shamanic Mirrors from Normal and Normal Bracers of Blind Hatred.

I am thinking that for the small increase in Strength and Stamina, these two pieces (whilst still heroic) are not an upgrade for me.

Is this correct?

Is it better waiting for pieces with Crit and Mastery

Cheers

Generally speaking, with the exception of particular set bonuses, heroic drops will always be better simply because of the increase in main stats (i.e. AGI, STR, INT), but many things can come into account when determining the effective worth of an item, such as how many gem slots and of what color, what secondary stats does the piece have, etc... So my recommendation (knowing little to nothing about warriors) would be to try out both and see what results you get

It depends on your personal stat weights. Especially for Warriors, as your gear gets better, the relative values of stats to each other can vary greatly. For example, in my case, 1 point of Crit is currently worth about 1.5 points of strength, so I wouldn't replace a normal piece with crit for a heroic one without crit.

Generally speaking, a piece won't be an upgrade for you if you would lose crit and/or mastery by equipping it. However, the best way to know is to sim yourself using simcraft, enter those values in askmrrobot, and check which of the 2 pieces it puts at a higher ranking.

Hope this helps, and if you need any more clarifications or help, just ask :)
