10m Normal ToT

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow players. My friends and I have just recently returned to WoW in the past 3 months, and we are just getting geared enough to where we are starting to look at the normal Throne of Thunder with eager eyes. In our raid group, the tanks are my brewmaster and a blood dk. We are probably the most geared in our group. My Armory and AMR are here respectively: <http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/kiljaeden/Hawkhawk/advanced>
<http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/gear/usa/kil'jaeden/hawkhawk>

My first question is do you think we would be ready?
I am confident in my rotation and my playstyle with the way my stats are currently with the crit build, but I do wonder about my enchants. I am horrid at making gold, and I can never seem to find enough to buy the expensive enchants. Would enchanting windsong be bad? And if so please explain.
My current rotation is something like keg smash, into blackout kick*, tiger palm, expel harm, jab, *Blackout kick every three chi* and repeat until I need to blow cooldowns for boss abilities. However, it does vary based on the encounter. I do not struggle in LFR which gives me the confidence to move on to bigger things.

I am loving my BrM and just want to improve. Any advice or critique would be greatly appreciated. Our guild is located here:

Thanks!

You are MORE than ready to take on ToT, at least the early fights.  We walked into it at around 515 ilvl, clearing it in a single week, so you should be fine to push at least the majority of the instance.

Windsong really isn't bad for BrM, or most tanks, really.  It's about 80-90% as effective as Dancing Steel, to toss an educated guess at it.

You shouldn't be using Expel Harm on cooldown, instead using it any time you're under 80% health for maximum effectiveness.  Otherwise, you're rotation is good.  I used to use a priority system like this:

Keg Smash > Expel Harm @ >80% > BoK > Jab > Tiger Palm

Your armory looks pretty good, but I'd would look for different trinkets.  Stam trinkets aren't very effective in MoP, and something different to smooth out Chi gen (such as Vicious Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault) or to increase your effective mitigation (such as Bottle of Infinite Stars) would be a better fit than Stam, and would also increase your damage.

If you happen to start logging your raids, I would definitely be willing to help analyze others in your raid as well.  But without that, it's hard to tell if they're not properly doing their rotations.

Yeah i figured it would be tough to give too much advice with the info I have at the moment. Considering this is my first time posting I feel it's more like a Hi. After this weekend I will probably create another post with more information depending on how it went. I have also been struggling with the Dark Shamans in SoO LFR. I follow the tank or take the lead to kite the shamans out of their AoEs, but I seem to be dying a lot on this fight. Is this common on BrM monks? The fight is just so busy I would not be surprised if I am standing in or on something I shouldnt be.

Well, hi as well!  And welcome to Icy-Veins.

If you're looking to do more analysis, you should check out the IV WarcraftLogs guide here.  It'll give you the resources to look deep into everyones actions and the damage you/they take.

It's a tough fight for BrMs, because they typically maintain less health and they can't Stagger the big single magic hits that hit you.  You could use the Glyph of Guard and Diffuse Magic to help mitigate the hits.  The spell that is probably gibbing you is Froststorm Strike and it's corresponding debuff.

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes. For a full list of what we're looking for check out https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com .
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.

We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a scrub, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing.
You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights. Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com/ under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.
If you have any question, feel free to contact E. at DbD#1309
