Paladin Sandbox

OR is still excellent, I've been using it for mount runs / xmog lately, but I see tons of SoO runs, even heroic runs. Often their expectations of your gear is high, but if you've got proof that you can compete while 'undergeared' and send them a message about it, they can often be generous and give you a spot.

I've already made my account for it, I just need to figure out how to hyperlink my WoW heroes pages to my 'main healer'/'Alt healer' signature, like I do for Icy veins.

Hey Timothy, welcome to our little corner where we talk about how paladins are the only logical solution when picking a class. Always nice to find other vanilla players, crazy to think how young we were when we started. I used to lie about my age and say I was 17 when applying to raid guilds, I'm sure they knew I was lying when I spoke on whatever voice chat we were using but noone ever said anything, good times.

I could easily see myself leveling up a Holy paladin, since I can supply all enchants to them from my DK. When leveling up, is it better to use a staff or a 1H/Shield combination for heirlooms and @Level90? I don't know that much about how Paladins operate as healers/tanks.

Leveling up as Holy is difficult. You'll want to make sure you have the right glyphs that will reduce healing but increase damage on spells such as Word of Glory and Holy Shock. While leveling you'll want to equip what ever has the highest spell power and crit. Obviously this all changes when you reach max level

I'd level as Protection, but the gold required to purchase the tanking heirlooms/JP grind to purchase the other tanking heirlooms(excluding trinkets) would take several weeks for me, since I only play on weekends and  I  plan to be a primary Holy Pally with a OS in Protection, and I already have healing heirlooms(cloak+weapon, since I have no mail armor heirlooms.) So, I should use inv_jewelry_talisman_12.jpgScholarly Headmaster's Charge instead of inv_hammer_05.jpgPious Aurastone Hammer/inv_shield_13.jpgWeathered Observer's Shield when leveling up?

Using the staff will give you a bit more spirit, but using the mace/shield will give you more spirit and a tad higher int.

Since I am a lazy leveler, I would go with the staff since you can use it across multiple toons instead of limiting your mace/shield to really only your paladin and possibly a shaman.

I used the staff when leveling my resto druid, so I'll probably use it for a pally. Does anyone know what the gold discount for heirlooms that require gold is? I have to purchase all of the mail armor heirlooms that cost gold, excluding the heirloom spellcasting cloak, since I already have it.

Actually I'm an idiot. Paladins can't use Staves. laugh.png We can only use One and Two handed Maces, Axes, Swords. And Polearms.

[insertgenericcusswordhere]. I guess I'll have to farm the JP to purchase the 1H mace heirloom, and the shield heirloom. As a side note, does anyone involved in this topic have any alts they want to gear up in SoO? I try to do weekly runs every weekend, but I have trouble getting people interested in doing it.

At least JP farming is quick.  Heroic dungeon bosses give 100 (+20 for guild perk) each.  As for gearing alts, I have a DK tank and a warlock that could both use some gear/experience/love.

Check out my topic in the Dungeons&Raids section( my topic I posted in there is titled 'Forming group for fresh 10n SoO weekly runs'.) I'm setting up a weekly run roster for SoO 10n, to help anyone interested in SoO 10n raiding.

The problem with JP is that I believe they will be removed, along with valor points, when WoD is released in 6.0. So I have to do the farming soon, or be prepared to spend a lot of gold.

While on the topic of heirlooms, would getting the dps set for my prot pally be better once he hits 58?  Or continue to use the tank heirlooms?

I think leveling as Prot in Ret gear will go fine. If you plan on questing, then it's all about damage throughput. There may be some issues when going through dungeon instances, but if you stick to normal mode, I don't see an issue with the healer being able to keep you up if you also use your damage mitigation/self healing spells.

I've leveled him almost exclusively through dungeons since he hit level ~20.  He's still in the Exodar for when I get the mats to work on his profs (mining and engi) in between runs.  So far I've been using the prot set (he's currently level 51) and plan on switching when he hits 58.  And as for healing, Eternal Flame is massive for me when used with 3 HP, so that *shouldn't* be too much of a probem.

I think that 6.0 is gonna completely change how heirlooms work (stat squish, flexible main stat, no hit/parry/etc).  I haven't bothered to copy a toon that's holding on to the heirlooms when copied, (which I suddenly realize may be an absolutely brilliant idea), so I don't know for sure.  But DPS vs. Tank may become moot.

Hopefully I can get enough flex level tier pieces this weekend to get the resto druid 4 piece bonus. On my druid, since i got her to level 90 4 months ago, hasn't gotten a celestial drop in me running her celestial kill every week, so I only have a flex tier chestpiece for her. Celestial drop rate for PvE hands/legs drops is horrible

I'll probably level up my pally as Protection, and get their healing gear from dungeons/quests; It's too much of a hassle to try to get full Prot pally/holy pally heirloom gear(Excluding trinkets). IT'll be simpler to just get the majority of the Protection paladin heirloom gear, and go from there.

When gearing up a L90 holy pally, though, which talents would be recommended? I can't decide between the level 45 tier talents ability_paladin_blessedmending.jpgSacred Shield and inv_torch_thrown.jpgEternal Flame. Are there certain fights that might have more use for one over the other, or does it depend on someones playstyle(Shielding versus Healing)? What other talents would be good for the other paladin tier talents for dungeon/raid healing?

I used EF all the way until 5.4 came out, when Selfless Healer became the best choice. Though I don't know if SH is still better when you're just gearing up. I think you'll be fine with EF if thats what youre picking between, otherwise SH is supposed to be the better choice for 25s/LFR by a fair margin. In 10 it's also supposed to be better, but I perform much better with EF since HR is less useful.

On a side note, if anyone's interested in free loots, apparently jinx is having a bit of a contest at the bottom of that website. ohmy.png

On a secondary side note. I've started leveling a prot warrior, and its tons of fun. I'm losing my paladin ways!

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.

Been playing as 29/11/0 so far, extra crit heals is obviously good for keeping my team alive.

However, I never go OOM, so I want to get some more burst damage. What is the best way to make a hybrid paladin?
Holy shock with spell power? I want to do burst damage when my heals get interrupted, so holy shock might be bad.

7 Prot is the bare minimum for me, Imp Freedom is so strong.
18 Prot is also very strong, extra stuns together with grenades is powerful for BGs.
25 Prot for reckoning might be the best burst damage available, you could even heal with a 2hander. But this requires alot of investment and SETUP.

How good is SoC for a 1hander? Spell power gear? Maybe using Thrash Blade to do melee damage while healing geared.

What kind of gear? Spell power or strength?

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes. For a full list of what we're looking for check out https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com .
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.

We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a scrub, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing.
You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights. Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://funisforcasuals.enjin.com/ under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.
If you have any question, feel free to contact E. at DbD#1309
