Why's Ask mr robot and icy veins so diffrent?

Recommended Posts

AMR is very accurate if you get your stat weights right

If i put in correct stat weights with 14242 haste, it gives 4 (possibly 5) incorrect items

You'd have to change 'BiS Upgrade Rank' to +4 instead of 0.

Fix your settings and it should be more similar.

Do remember that each website may be using a slightly different build, but with similar weighting and soft cap management, they should show the same

I think that its the ability to item upgrade that causes AMR to get a bit confused and especially with the addition of 2 more item increases.

E.G.

Your image shows that you have normal gloves with +16ilvl giving it an ilvl of 569 and it is flagging them as BIS.

This is higher than the ilvl of heroic tier gloves as they have a base ilvl of 566.

The same applies for the weapon. Its base ilvl and stats are higher than a heroic base level MH/OH pairing so on the base ilvl and stats it is BIS.

In practice however we know that a HWF +16ilvl MH/OH combo would be better.

All tools have limitations :)

It's a setting, not a limitation!

Indeed thought there would be something like that, although it probably should default to on

I get this.

This is still wrong, but this is because 4set for frost is meh in best case scenario, and furthermore you're not using haste breakpoints.

Not sure why AMR team gave the 4set such high value.

However, once you fix it by forcing a true BiS on the helm slot (Ebon ritual hood) and set a haste breakpoint (I used 14501), then it clicks into place and fixes the rest of the slots.

Only thing that's subject to opinion is the second trinket, where AMR prefers BBoY, while most people prefer KTT. But it's not a clear cut which one is better. I consider both equally good.

Okay guys let's see how AMR works
You set up your own personal stat weights (or chose to use those of AMR)
Then AMR takes the gear which would bring you to the maximum of those secondary stats.
When you select Haste > Mastery > Crit it is going to prefer BBoI over KTT due to BBoY having haste on it whereas KTT does not.
What generally tends to fuck with all these values is that

a) AMR sets 4set as a necessity.

b) AMR takes your current heroic gear as BiS as well and then goes on to calculate with the Heroic Warforged remaining pieces.

c) KTT doesn't give any actual stat apart from the intellect proc

AMR doesn't provide a BiS list in terms of what's the best for your class.

It provides a list of: Which items give the most secondary stats

They also calculate based on set/trinket power.  So the 4-6% DPS boost from the KTT Multistrike IS counted, as well as the ~3% boost from 4pc.

Do remember that they calc those based on the current Simcraft priority list.

This is still wrong

Not wrong. It gives the best gear for he default AMR build that was selected.

If you put the "best" stat weights in and have the correct setting it will give you the Best in slot for the information you enter.

The image was to illustrate the difference of fixing the +4 ilvl upgrade change to the BIS list not to show the actual BIS list.

Simcraft is wrong for mages though :D

There is NO best in slot for Icy Veins. Period. We give trinket and set bonus advice, and list every item for your slot in order of Item level.

In each table, the items are ranked by item level and then alphabetically.

Simcraft is wrong for mages though biggrin.png

I've seen this come up a few times before. But no one says what's wrong with it. mellow.png

Just to make it clear, yes the default action lists are not really spot on. And making a good list for fire, if possible, will be very tedious process (never even ventured there). But modifying the lists for frost and arcane is nothing special.

Saying that simc is wrong for mages makes no sense whatsoever.

Also, simc can generate a log which you can go through and see what went wrong or not as you expected.
