Destruction Warlock and CC 5.0.4

4 posts in this topic

Hello! I'm new to Destruction Warlock. I am level 47 right now; but my dps will be high in one dungeon and low in another. I start my rotation with Immolate, then conflagrate, then Incinerate. I try to dot mobs with immolate, and then conflagrate, then focus on one with incinerate and throw up rain of fire. Chaos bolt where it applies. I read everywhere about rotations, tried making macros and they don't feel right. I key bound the rotation but sometimes point and click.

I say all this so you know where I am coming from. My question is about crowd control, how do I do it, and is it necessary before 85? Is fear part of CC'ing? I don't use fear because 1) I am afraid to send a enemy into another crowd, and 2) What good does it really do? I do use it when questing, and more than one enemy is attacking. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated. I have tried looking it up, and I seem to be more confused, maybe looking in all the wrong places. Thanks again.

Oh yeah I did get glyph of burning embers but that is all.

dont bother fearing. It will cause more wipes than any other CC. If you HAVE to CC, use either banish or seduce, but generally, CC isnt really necessary in dungeons.

You should ALWAYS be opening with Curse of the Elements. It gives you (and all other spellcasters) a flat 5% damage increase and is well worth the global cooldown.

Your rotation seems fine, and theres not a lot you can really do about it. DPS will vary greatly in levelling dungeons, especially when you get to a new dungeon with higher level mobs if your Hit Rating hasnt increased. Hover over your spell Hit in the character pane and it will tell you how much you will miss against mobs up to 3 levels higher than yourself.

Another factor is your secondary stats. When levelling, they are changing constantly due to new gear and are often FAR from optimal for your spec.

TBH, I wouldnt really worry about it. Levelling is levelling. You cant really assess things until you get to max lvl and start raiding.

Thank you. Every time I go into a dungeon, I worry that I'm blowing it. I tried Affliction, but I got complaints. Destruction seems more my type anyway. Again, thank you.

Nothing To Lose is recruiting exceptional players for Mythic Emerald Nightmare and Legion progression.
Raid times are 7-11pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday and Friday nights.

We are mainly interested in Ranged DPS at the moment, however
we are always willing to accept talented and experienced raiders.
The following classes would be highly preferred:
      -Mage (Fire)
      -Priest (Shadow)
      -Druid (Balance)

For Mythic content, we expect our raiders to be consistent both in their attendance and performance. We are a generally laid back and sarcastic crowd, but our 20 spots will be filled by those who:
-Show up on time with full consumables
-Know the ins and outs of their class
      -Know the boss mechanics
-Push their numbers to highest possible in their spec.

<NTL> has been on Cho'Gall since the Burning Crusade, and we intend to be around through Legion and beyond. Join us for some !@#$-talking, meter-whoring, and good old-fashioned purps.

The easiest way to apply is to contact myself (GM) directly via PM or in-game mail.

I am an Affliction Warlock, and my brother is a Marksmanship Hunter. Currently, we're sitting at about 850 ilvl average, both easily pulling over 200k DPS on a consistent basis. We both have a good amount of experience with the game, as we've been playing since Burning Crusade. We're both on Bloodscalp on the Horde, so looking for any guilds on that server or the connected ones (Boulderfist, Dunemaul, Maiev, Stonemaul).
We're both looking for a new guild for progression raiding and PvP. While we're interested in PvE (particularly in progression), we spend a good amount of our time doing PvP. Our current guild, sad to say, does not have any PvPers, and the core few who wish to raid at the moment are not strong enough players altogether to pull forward, so we're at a bit of a dead end.
Both my brother and I are good at the game, and want to be apart of a group that can make full use out of what we have to offer. We are available primarily in the early evenings (between 5 pm and 10 pm CST), as both of us work during the day. We're both in our late-20's, so we're only looking to join a guild with mature players.

Hey guy so we are currently rebuilding the guild after we had to kick some bad people and others left because they didn't like that we are recruiting every spec and class we raid 3 days a week Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday 10 pm server to 2 am server that's eastern time. we have an optional flex Monday  raid to ether progress more or do some Mythic+ stuff. Serious inquires only please and only taking people that can make the full raid time.
Leave a comment with your class, spec, and battle tag as well as current progression.
