Beta Patch Notes update plus new Draenei model!

This week in World of Warcraft sees an update to the Warlords of Draenor Patch notes. Blizzard has done another pass over the abilities and class changes, and a few more spells have been deemed unnecessary (such as the Druid's spell_nature_sleep.jpgHibernate ability and Warlock's spell_shadow_grimward.jpgCurse of Exhaustion). There's also been some substantial changes to a variety of specializations, including some welcome changes and re-works for Arms and Fury Warriors. Blizzard has also previewed the new Draenei Male model in their latest Artcraft entry, and he's looking buffer than ever. Our friends over at MMO-Champion have fished up another new Tier 17 armor set (this time, it's Hunters), so be sure to check it out! Also, in case you haven't yet logged into WoW and Valor capped for the week, the pvecurrency-valor.jpgHeart of the Valorous buff is back for the entire weekend! Read on for more details in this week's Warcraft recap!

Heart of the Valorous Buff Returns

The pvecurrency-valor.jpgHeart of the Valorous has returned once more, and will be active on live servers from Friday, July 11 at 9:00 a.m. PDT, through Monday, July 14 at 9:00 a.m. PDT. The buff has not been changed, and still increases Valor gain by 100%. Many players have expressed diappointment in the buff. The main concern expressed is that implementing the buff on the weekend is useless because many players have already capped valor by this point, since it resets on Tuesday, making the buff useless to the majority of active players. Also, the weekly valor cap of 1000 remains, so many players are capped by Wednesday after doing their raids and a few quests. Blizzard poster Bashiok states, "If you're capping four characters in a few hours already, halving that time probably wouldn't be a big boost for you. This is more as incentive for those that aren't capping at all." Maybe in the future we'll see this buff implemented on Tuesday? If you haven't capped yet and you're looking for easy ways to maximize your Valor-earning potential, be sure to check out our Guide to Gaining Valor!

Warlords of Draenor Beta Patch Notes Updated

It's been a while since the last update to the Warlords of Draenor Beta patch notes, but Blizzard has just done another sweep over the lengthy document. This latest update focuses primarily on class changes, with some additional ability pruning and some major changes for Warriors, Hunters and Monks. The patch notes have been updated with changes for nearly every class in this update. Notable changes this update include:
  • Tanks will now take 25% additional damage while engaged in PVP combat.
  • Marksmanship Hunters have had their Mastery changed from Wild Quiver to Sniper Training
  • Some class abilities have been changed to see better benefit from the Multistrike stat
  • Major changes to Warrior talents, including new talents and removal of some existing talents
  • An additional wave of ability pruning was done, over 10 more class spells have been removed
As always, our friends at MMO-Champion have posted a patch notes excerpt which includes only the changed/updated notes, while the full updated patch notes are available on the World of Warcraft website.

Artcraft -- Draenei Male

Blizzard has posted a new entry in their Artcraft series, this time spotlighting the phenomenal changes made to the Draenei male model. Blizzard considers the current Draenei male model one of the better character models in the game, so there weren't many substantial changes to the overall appearance of the character. Instead, the Draenei male see detailed new, higher resolution textures (in the form of bulging veins and muscles). I guess all of those empty areas of the Exodar were previously full of workout equipment. Check out the full preview of the new Human male model on the official World of Warcraft blog!

18 micro-holidays tested over the next 3 weeks, you're sure to find a few that you'll love!

The micro-holidays that are being introduced in 7.1.5 are going to be tested in the next 3 weeks and, as a lot of them won't be seen on live for months and months after the patch launches, jumping on the PTR and taking a look now is a great way to see which you should look forward to or care about! With 18 holidays available you're sure to find a few that are just right for you - personally I'm betting on Call of the Scarab for those sweet "world server down" memories of opening the AQ gates.

Beginning tomorrow, December 6, we plan to begin testing of the new Micro-Holiday events being added in Patch 7.1.5. One event will be tested each day for the next few weeks, and we’d love to hear your feedback on them.
The testing schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, December 06: Call of the Scarab
Wednesday, December 07: Kirin Tor Tavern Crawl
Thursday, December 08: Love is in the Air
Friday, December 09: Hatching of the Hippogryphs
Saturday, December 10: March of the Tadpoles
Sunday, December 11: Volunteer Guard Day
Monday, December 12: Spring Balloon Festival
      Tuesday, December 13: Glowcap Festival
      Wednesday, December 14: Un'goro Madness
Thursday, December 15: Call of the Scarab
Friday, December 16: Kirin Tor Tavern Crawl
Saturday, December 17: Love is in the Air
Sunday, December 18: Hatching of the Hippogryphs
Monday, December 19: March of the Tadpoles
Tuesday, December 20: Volunteer Guard Day
Wednesday, December 21: Spring Balloon Festival
      Thursday, December 22: Glowcap Festival
      Friday, December 23: Un'goro Madness
As these events open, we’ll be starting up new threads to gather feedback on them. Please share any of your thoughts there. Thanks!

The Trial of Valor Mythic top 20 is done and Method's Final Boss interview is also here!

The Trial of Valor race is slowing down and the top 20 has formed! As Wowprogress doesn't track Chinese guilds the standings below are a little different, but the progress coverage over at Method.gg checked in with Chinese sources and made the rankings right:

Method, this time the guild, also had a big interview with Final Boss and talked about their No.1 spot, the split with Serenity and Legion in general:

Na'zak graces us with extra loot this week and also has the recipe for Rank 3 Potion of Prolonged Power.

It seems we get double World Bosses this week as Na'zak the Fiend has arrived in Suramar (on both US and EU servers). Blue posts confirm this is not a bug, but it also doesn't seem exactly intended (at least originally), as there was a bug where you could loot him multiple times that's already been fixed. Whether this is a new schedule of World Boss spawns that will give us more than one per week (or a chance at more than one) hasn't been announced so it might just have been one of those things that slipped through the cracks.
Edit: And here's further confirmation, making it sound like this particular boss was special.
In any case, he drops Rank 3 of Recipe: Potion of Prolonged Power as well as:
Avalanche Resistant Legplates Dessicated Leather Pants Leystone Nugget Loop of Polished Pebbles Mana-Dowsing Ring Na'zak's Dusty Pantaloons Venomscarred Chain Leggings

Hello, so I started playing DK at the launch of legion, and have enjoyed it so far. I was initially unholy but then changed to frost recently, and am enjoying both specs except for one thing, namely my performance. So there are three frost DK's in my raid and lately the other two are always towards the top of the meter while I'm towards the bottom. There is no large gear difference (I think they both have a couple ilvls on me, but I have the legendary belt), so I was wondering what I was doing wrong. Upon looking at logs I found they both casted significantly more spells than me on all fronts (FS, obliterate, etc.). I also noticed that I need to keep icy talons up more, but can someone tell me why I'm casting so many fewer spells than them (there is no large haste difference, the armory has us all at 30something% haste, even though one of them (Hungerghost) and I only have 20something, and I'm sure the same applies to the other DK), or if there is some other problem, then what is it and how can I fix it? Thanks.
