Krushinator 49 Report post Posted July 15, 2014 Shadowstep is a nice tool for maintaining uptime during a fight, but I wouldn't call it a deal breaker if you don't have it. If you can perform your rotation more smoothly and position yourself better without Shadowstep, I would say go for it. Falcifer 7 Report post Posted July 15, 2014 I liked Shadowstep a lot because it felt quite rogue-y to me. Then when they introduced Cloak and Dagger, that felt even more rogue-y, so I started using that. But when we were progressing on Thok and I started using BoS for the fixate phase, I never went back. I really like the speed boost. Less rogue-y perhaps, but I find it far more useful to have. Shadowstep certainly isn't mandatory, and if it's affecting your performance in a negative way, Burst of Speed should help a lot Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Hybrys 199 Report post Posted July 16, 2014 Honestly, I think Burst of Speed is a poor choice for that tier, because it's the only one that costs extra Energy. You can also find a lot of people using it any time they're moving, and wasting 1000+ energy. But, if you're not comfortable with another talent, then by all means! But shadow step is the king for this talent tier in my choices, maybe cause i'm engineer, so i've sprint + nitroboots, so extra instant TP is really more attractive. In all cases, this is so usefull in all situations, never i'll choose (for now :p) BoS as the "default" talent. One thing people don't use frequently with shadow step is "just" for replace your char really behind your target. One of the better plan is for pass through a lot of "one shot" spells (like the ice walls on hagara, way back to cataclysm, or near of you on heroic blackfuse supply chain) without lose ANY second of dps... Last things : a lot of people (of course noone who read the IV forums !) don't know you can shadow steps on your raid members... So yep, not mandatory, but really better for me than BoS.
