Spriest looking for some suggestions!

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you except, that those who will be able to help you will want to see logs.  I wanted to pass that to you to hopefully get a quicker answer to the help you are looking for.

are you new to spriest? your numbers on protectors are a bit low. do you have keybinds for casting spells at your focus? are you trying to clip your flay just after a tic?

the 3 spriests are pretty close in numbers on jugga, although the best spriest doesnt have the best gear. if you can get genovaa to give you advice on a fight to fight basis, that would probably be best. although it may just be that his execution of abilities is superior, which comes with time playing the class as well as keybind and ui optimization.

Hi there! Long time lurker here with a couple of tips.

Firstly, Twists of Fate is your friend in SoO! I know that proccing extra instant Mind Blast is very fun and feels like it might be worth it, but for the majority of fights it just isn't! For example, on protectors the top 2 spriests in your group have around a 70% uptime on ToF, meaning a passive 15% damage bonus for the majority of the fight... that's huge! Then looking at Norushen, Genovaa has 88% uptime on ToF! Divine Insight just isn't worth running on this at all, proven by the fact you had 25 MB's compared to Genovaa's 26, despite him/her not running it in the first place, whether this is down to unlucky/wasted procs I can't tell but it might also have something to do with your uptime on DoT's.

VT and SW:P Should be 100% uptime or as near as possible which to be fair on some fight's you havn't done too badly on, but on the other hand, Genovaa (sorry to keep using him/her as an example) has 98% uptime on protectors with both spells. This paired with the 15% increased damage is what makes their damage so much higher then yours.

In regards to Seigecrafter depending on what your kill order and what your roll is within the raid (killing belts perhaps?) running DI probably isn't a bad choice, at least for progress anyway. Just make sure your DoT uptime is as good as you can get it and don't forgt to throw a SW:P on anything you possibly can if you're going to get a decent duration from it. It might only do 1k per tick on the shredder but it might also grant you 3 extra DI procs.

Finally, I'm not extremely well versed in WoL so I'm unable to tell a few things. First being; are you clipping your mind flay? This can make a substantial difference in your dps when done properly - I'll try and find a decent article to link. And secondly, do you have a DoT tracker? I previously relied on weak auras to show me when my trinkets/meta procced so I'd know when to refresh DoT's. I then added Affdots Spriest which you can setup to show you when to re-apply your dots. For example, you've just recast VT and SW:P 3 seconds ago, but now you've just got double trinket and ToF proc at once! Re-apply them to as many targets as you possibly can because that extra damage is crazy!!!

In conclusion, forget about DI and embrace ToF. The only fight's I use it on are Juggernaut, Thok and occasionally Seigecrafter (depending on belt etc).

Not the best guide I know but I hope it helps!!

if youre new to tof, remember you get the buff from heals or damage, so a well timed renew, halo, pom can up your bufftime.

Thank you all so much - I will have to try and be more diligent about clipping my MF! I also used to be specc'd into ToF but felt it was lacking and switched to DI - but maybe quite a bit has changed since ive changed those 2 ... I will give ToF a try tonight and see if I can be better about clipping MF!
*fingers crossed*

ToF has better potential, but it does take some commitment to master. if it feels like youve got the spec down, but tof isnt doing so hot, just keep at it.

on the other hand if you feel like youre doing even worse after swapping to it, id go back to DI to master dot refreshing and clip timing. you may also need to consider your footwork, maximize traveling during your gcds and getting the most out of every insanity.

the addon i use to time the tics of channeled spells is called "gnosis"

Warcraftlogs is far easier to use and analyse the logs.

If you want to get right into your rotation and receive better input from others here then i would suggest making an account at warcraftlogs and uploading there.

Happy Killing :)
