If your people swapping out are responsive enough, you can swap debuff groups every 2 stacks until the boss hits 30%, 3 stacks thereafter. Found this to be very effective at improving group survivabilty with undergeared healers. In order for this to work, your person moving back in needs to move back in during the last couple seconds of their debuff (I just go after the other group takes 2 cleaves). You can further tweak this by swapping groups after the first cleave at start and after each bou ding cleave.

If your raid team is small, tanks can safely take a cleave or two in a pinch, especially if they're well geared. They mitigate a much higher % of the damage, again making it easier on your heals, so long as they don't dip too low.

Worth noting, when doing this we've always had a 3rd group, generally the healers to take the bounding cleave. Also seen the swap done with uneven dps groups (4 and 3) by having 2 move out and in at the same time from the larger group to force the change.
