[Feral] - Rotation downtime?

Recommended Posts

Since last here, looking for advice, I've been working on my feral rotation. I've come to a question.

Say that I have (on a SoO boss);

-SR up with over 50% of the time on it left (5 CP)

-Rake on the target

-Rip (5CP) on the target

-Thrash on the target

Now what do I do? Do I sit and watch everything tick away on the target? Something else?

Currently I've been using shred, as to not interfere with the bleeds, but I've been building CPs with it and hit 5CP well before SR or Rip are close to done. I have been dumping the CPs into SR, refreshing it whenever so it never falls off.... but this seems like a waste sometimes.

I I had Maim on my bar (from PvP) and over the weekend have been dumping the 5Cps into that... but without the PvP gear bonus (and in PvP) it also seems like a waste as it does nothing.

Maim won't really be effective on most bosses because the stun won't work. Ferocious bite has two main benefits. First as you said, it clears up down time in your rotation, so you are always doing damage and you don't resource cap. In addition when your target is below 25% Ferocious bite also refreshes your rip on your target so you don't have to keep re-applying it :D

I'm aware of the under 25% FB refresh, which is why I only used it there. I'll move it back to it's spot on my bar and drop Maim for PvE all together (stick with it in PvP).

FB is the filler I've been using, I'll just keep using it.

Also, our Feral Mod posted this on the Feral Druid comment section which comments on Shred vs Mangle as a combo point builder. Take a look at it to see if it helps with your rotation a bit.

Also Paloro, is that post still true come 6.0/WoD?

@Krazyito

Good luck finding Mangle in 6.0

@OP

Demonardvark is correct that in that particular situation, FB is the correct skill to use.  Energy capping is a big no-no.

Be careful about getting into a habit of using FB though.  Fight situations will always be the dictator of your future skill use.  Before making these types of decisions mid battle, you should ask yourself, "What am I going to be doing 40 seconds from now?".
